Here is another view of my version of Gerrys beam engine with a wooden frame. I usually run my engines on compressed air but it's nice to run them on steam occasionally but it is messy and every thing gets a bit hot.
Really nice...I love your idea of mixing wood and machine. Wood is a nice cushion against metal parts and as a carpenter it's 20 times easier to "machine" for me. It also looks very "Western cowboy" like something you would see on a Texas oil well or a Montana silver mine. Thanks for the inspiration!
This site has lots of plans www.john-tom.com/html/SteamPlans2.html the original has the frame cut from Aluminium but i decided to make it with wooden beams, it's a popular engine for beginners , there are plans in inches and metric around somewhere.
