It would’ve been hilarious if Lucas did one of his high-speed intros where he shoots and runs around- but he does it with a magless gun and dryfires the whole time

Got to say this site is one of the best for all around knowledge from basics to tactical. I have watched all of these series and it was well worth the time and I finally bought a couple of your holster systems and the quality, fit and interchangeable options makes building a holster portfolio much easier. Thanks for your efforts.

I really appreciate a series like this. I live in a place where firearms are mostly banned or heavily restricted, including magazine capacity. All I can do is dry fire or sometimes shoot bb rounds with my airsoft guns. But I still want to achieve a competent, if not high level skill in firearm manipulation, safety, accuracy, all that good stuff. Just in case I'm ever faced with a situation where I need to defend myself or those I care for, I'm not a danger to innocent people around me if I get a firearm in my hands. Thanks for always sharing your knowledge, Lucas!

My wife bought me ITarget last Xmas and I love it. I have it in both .40 and 9mm. Aiming at a target is fine but knowing where the bullet will go when you pull the trigger is much better. Dry firing without the laser will help with acquiring the dot, but it also helps to know that when you press the trigger, you're not gonna pull low and left. You still have to put in the range time though to manage recoil. If only there was a dry fire way to simulate recoil!

So funny that this video dropped literally while I was doing dry fire practice 😆 I have three targets around my apartment. One is the zeroing target that Trex sent me when I bought my AimPoint PRO a few years ago, the other is a 1x1 square of tape, and the last one is actually me. I’ll just stand in front of a mirror and practice shooting myself so that I’m accustomed to putting my sights on an actual human being.

I use a DryFire mag for the light switches in the house. It really helped get better with the dot. I use it almost every day, and it's only about 90 bucks. Nice to reset the trigger without racking the slide 50 times a day. The lasers seem wonky, and it seems like you'd focus on the bouncing laser like a video game.

Love the video!! The mantis x3 does (as you put it) spit out too much info that may or may not be useful depending on how you use it. I've found it highly beneficial as a shot timer at indoor ranges as it only records your shots.

Going with the money saving aspect I bought an Advantage Arms .22L conversion kit for my 26. It cost me $280 and I’ve saved welllll over that much in ammo. I can now shoot a couple hundred rounds for a fraction of the price. Working draw, grip, target transition, everything. Then run a few mags of 9mil to get the recoil impulse right and I’m good to go.

Idk about shitting on mantis. Def helped during COVID when 9mm was over 50cpr. A dryfiremag also helps get past the first good trigger pull and subsequent follow on shots a lot of people struggle with from only firing one shot then racking the slide in dry fire.

Plus, this training up by adding differnet types of weapons to the targets. Mix in unarmed targets with armed targets that in various stages of threat levels. In OTC guys have been dropped for shooting unarmed targets due to training scars. If you're going to train this make it even more valuable and the effort will pay off in the chaos.

For dry fire practice ,something rarely spoken about these days is " balancing the dime" . Balance a dime on the slide near the muzzle and learning how to pull the trigger without the coin falling .
@Osprey1994
@Osprey1994 Месяц назад
It's an old technique, and honestly it's not that difficult. If you are using a red dot, the dot will give you all the feedback you need. More importantly, people tend to game the coin drill by prepping the trigger. The important thing, is being able to from off the trigger, to breaking the shot with one trigger pull and without having to prep to the wall.
