Holosun may not be US made and may not be perfect but they are single handedly responsible for Trijicon marking these, everyone keep that in mind. Competition is why this is coming out.
I'm beyond thankful and blessed for Lucas and everyone else at T Rex arms as well as the guests that are brought onto the channel for providing all of the information that we ask for, always transparent and straight forward, as well as equipping citizens with the right tools, knowledge and gear, you are all very much appreciated 🙌💯
Man thanks again fir being a man of your word Lucas. You & your company. You literally asked your viewers/customers what they wanted with RU-vid. We told you what we liked & you started sropping these uploads immediately. Awesome! Such an awesome role model for all. Man of your word, you've got a lot of self-discipline & integrity
All it takes is a fumble at the range or knocking it off a tailgate to trash an optic. Sage drop tests aren’t like a tomahawk toss extreme torture test, he just drops them from a standard height that might replicate an oops moment and worthy for civilian consideration.
Have oops’d my rmr several times in the 2-3 years I’ve carried my Roland special. Concrete, tile, and hardwood. No higher than a meter each time. With the concrete drop being off the side of my truck bed. Can’t recommend them enough.
My rmr has been dropped, fallen off my glock when the mos screws sheered off from 6 feet off the ground, beaten around and abused and has 10k rounds on it. These will handle it. It's trijicon... you don't think they did the same thing?
Appreciate the review. I believe I’ll pickup the closed emitter. Here in the PNW it rains so often that I believe an open emitter is actually a detriment more often than not.
Totally agree with you guys about the open vs closed emitters. I prefer open emitter for CCW guns because they have a slimmer profile and don't print as much. However, if you are in a duty role, closed is preferred because you definitely find yourself standing in the elements more than the average person.
I for one like the bullseye and have been shooting with that reticle style for years in various conditions, environments, and classes. Prefer it over the single dot. So yay for more options for those of us that prefer it. I do use other Trijicon products but have been using pistol options from other manufacturers because until now, Trijicon did not have my preferred reticle option.
Y’all are awesome, love what y’all stand for and how you conduct your business, keep it up! Also, might I suggest bug spray for those pesky bugs cause they were eating y’all up
@@daytonsmith8910my Holosun 507 has been through hell and back lol Don’t be fooled by money hungry people saying “support our economy” while they are inflating the shit out their prices to screw you over 😂
@accs222 Well my 507c lasted less than 200 rounds before it quit working while my Trijicon SRO has been going strong for 5 years of everyday carry on a Glock 19, even though I carry at work building houses every day where it gets banged around dirty and wet. It also has thousands of rounds on it. So maybe you get what you pay for.
I like the circle dot reticle for rifle applications. When the red dot is mounted on top of a magnified optic, it has a lot of height over bore. The bottom tick of the circle is a good reference point for holdovers at close range. 100% agree that the circle dot is basically useless when mounted on a pistol though. Drains the battery quicker, with no real benefit.
I know right those bugs are getting on my nerves and I wasn't even now, I was outside talking with my dad the other day and the first thing he said is son sure you don't want some of this off, I'm like now I'm good how bad can it be, a few days later my arms are still itching, if I could I would Purge the Earth of mosquitoes they are so f****** annoying.
Love the more candid, less rigid/structured, video style. The conversation seems natural and helps some viewers feel more like they're a part of the discussion and not simply consuming the content.
Really quality, useful info for the average person. Thank you. I was leaning toward the RCR, however after the video, now I think I'll go w the RMR HD.
Always stuck with trijicon, swapped to Holosun because they innovated far ahead of competition. EPS carry remains my go to my x macro ccw. Also prefer the green dot to red. Bulls eye gives me faster reaction to close targets (ccw), also reminiscent to my eotech on rifle. Dropped on concrete, beat it take it down all sorts of temps and still running strong.
EPS carry is hopefully a new standard others will try to achieve, it's untouchable right now. I have noticed I'm better on a plate rack with the circle-dot, not experienced enough to say if that "betterness" carries over to realistic engagements.
X macro - holosun eps carry in green - Streamlight tlr7 sub. Been running this setup for a few months and it’s been nearly perfect. Aside from the battery tray coming loose on the sight I haven’t had a single problem.
@@POPJack1717i too like my products made by slave laborers. It would be even better if a uygur in concentrated camp made my holosun. I love China so much you wouldn't believe it.
Finally! Man Trijicon took a long time to catch up to the market. I was looking for an enclosed red dot for my pistol to replace my RMR. Mainly to prevent lint and dirt from getting on the emitter.
Lucas, while I agree the donut of death style isn't useful on a pistol, it's actually fantastic to me, running a Scalarworks Mount on my Benelli M4 with an RMR footprint. The RMR mounts super clean, but the 3.25 MOA dot isn't that great for a shotgun. I stuck a friend's Holosun on there, and loved it. I was about to pull the trigger on a Holosun, until I saw the RMR HD. The great thing about this type of reticle is obviously fast target acquisition, and my shotgun can be made to pattern completely inside the reticle from close home defense ranges. Now that Trijicon has their's, I won't need to go down the Holosun route. I wish they had made the RCR with this option, but hey, really excited about the RMR HD.
lol I love how you say the donut of death isn’t useful but it’s actually fantastic 😂😂 makes no sense and you’re deluded by those useless options and cheap price which makes u think Holosun is a good brand 😂 sell that junk and buy a RMR type 2
I'd like to see, on paper, how much ammo and time Lucas has put on the range through the years. Obviously no matter how much training time you put in, theres always going to be room for improvement but his skill alone is better than anyone I've ever seen when I go to the range.
@@MrKook While you’re waiting on Lucas’ video, I’d recommend watching the podcasts with Jay Beal. He’s a literal goat farmer who made USPSA GM from concealment shooting
I'm still rocking the original RMR on my Gen 5 G19 MOS with the proper plate to prevent the infamous flicker. It's my carry pistol. No buttons, always on, have to remove the RMR to change the battery at the range once a year on "Muh Birthday Shoot" session at the range and re-zero it. Don't care. It just works. It was also super-cheap since it was new-old-stock collecting dust on the gun store shelf and they were desperate to get rid of it. If I pick up another optic-enabled pistol then I'll see about getting a new RMR.
Drop test like Sage Dynamics is important because people actually drop their guns in everyday life. I for one would like to know my optic can withstand a drop test instead of finding out first hand that it can't
Exactly. It’s not like Aaron is doing some 100mph fastball pitch into a tree, he’s replicating an oops off let’s say your tailgate at the range or knocking it off your work bench in the garage. Accidents happen and I’ve seen plenty of trashed SRO’s because of that.
They are very reasonable tests. Lucas is just so insecure he has to bring up all the tests he's NOT doing like 60 times a video lmfao. It's nauseating. Just review the product man. I don't need 100 justifications for low round counts or not torture testing.
@@mmafanatic-tz5or and? Id bet neither have 99% of gun owners. The point is to simulate a worst case but still realistic test, while also giving a rough idea of how long the optic will hold up over time.
Trijicon RMR’s are the best for pistol red dots. I purchased several Type 1’s. When the Type 1’s had battery harness problems, I sent all of them back to Trijicon for repair and they just sent me Type 2’s instead. No questions asked! Trijicon is awesome! Can’t wait to try this new and improved RMR.
@@Weimerica8841not to mention a drop of water renders them unusable. Open emitter pistol dots are a fad that won’t stop because people just hate making smart decisions
Love watching y'all shoot! That said I really do appreciate Sage Dynamics brutal testing process. I've carried a gun for a living almost 14yrs now and either run my gen3 G19/RMRrm7/x300ub or G45/509t/tlr1hl. I really like both but I lean closer to the enclosed emitter RDS. I'll try one of these out eventually.
I've been wanting to switch to the LTT 92 but the lack of enclosed optic plates has made me hesitant. The RCR is exactly what I've been waiting for a company to figure out how to make. No plate system to increase height but still mounts to a standard and ubiquitous footprint. I'm very excited that it was Trijicon themselves to come out with an optic that does everything I could want out of a carry/duty optic.
Love my Holosun 508T because of the bullseye reticle. I find it so much easier to pick up and put on target then a little dot. I don’t really understand why you think it’s useless, can you explain further? The dot is more precise but trying both, I am always faster with the bullseye reticle
It's a preference thing, if someone's shot with just a dot forever they're going to revert to that whenever possible. Its just like the guys who have shot with irons their whole life that will tell you how useless a dot is because they don't spend the time to get proficient with it.
I like Garret! More of Garret. And hello to you, too. Nice work! I like the closed emitter concept if only to avoid all the blasted lint. Its kind of a pain to clean my rds internal window side. I'm sure the NV performance is there, but please confirm! That was a major selling point to me, and remains so as a nods user.
To add the other side of the argument and I know my reasoning is in the minority. But being partially red green color blind the circle dot I can pick up fast. I struggle to find a single dot depending onthe back drop
NO matter what people say Trijicon set the standard and without the standard you would have NO Progression and nothing to advance. Trijicon is absolutely still the gold standard and combat proven in many arenas not just “pistol red dots” either.
Get with the times. Primary arms optics annihilate the acog in performance for way less money. But ofc someone always mentions the durability of acogs. BROTHER IF YOU HAVE TO HAVE AN OPTIC THAT DURABLE YOU TREAT YOUR RIFLE LIKE TRASH.
Haha I did that exact thing with the bullseye on my Holosun. It is easier to pick up when you’re new to red dots but once you become a little more proficient, the battery drain of using a bullseye over a red dot is no longer justified
I 100% vouch for enclosed emitter even just from a concealment standpoint from a much more realistic standpoint. As someone from the south, a big thing we deal with is heavy humidity. Enclosed or not, your optic WILL fog up transitioning indoors to outdoors. The difference is when an open emitter gets moist, it’s both sides the glass, which causes dot splotching, as well as the emitter amplifying that. Enclosed only fogs the outter panes. Yes, it’s still occluded from the fog, but since the emitter is retained, as well as the inner pane, the dot stays CRISP! That goes same for rain. Other than that, little quality of life being able to wipe crap off the back lense with your shirt is nice over digging out lint and crap. You can call that petty, but it’s what I’m dealing with far more than the crazy snow/mud “what if.” I carry my Glock 19 with an SRO/BROS and I also have a p320 for duty/big carry with a Stiener MPS. I have the same logic as Lucas, SRO is great for carry, for what I paid for it, it’s frivolous to replace and my body heat mitigates that fogging concern (which really lasts less than 2 minutes to adjust) but for OWB/duty use, I’m all for enclosed. Moving forward I’m going enclosed over all just for the niche benefits. I think if you have an open, it’s fine and not worth replacing. But if you’re in the market for a dot, just soon go enclosed. Though the RMR mounting is sweet, I don’t think anything beats a direct mill for ACRO/509t/MPS. The way they clamp to the slide like a pic rail gives me a lot more confidence to smack on barricades or beat open a stuck slide over screws.
American Made is always what I'd like to have. I just haven't made the move yet! Hopefully soon! Thanks for your shooting tips with the Trijicon lineup. God Bless!
I get the idea behind not necessarily needing ACOG level durability for an EDC pistol optic, but I also don't think we should downplay the importance of having durability standards more than the SRO. I think the shoulder height drop test that Aaron does is very reasonable and realistic. Optics are too expensive and too important to the effectiveness of the pistol to not be able to withstand an accidental drop off my nightstand. Great video and awesome shooting!
The data is very solid to have. I think manufacture will have a hard time now days slipping anything past folks due to the large amount of end users who will shoot carry drop and abuse their product and then take to the internet with that info. If you really do have a big issue It is verry hard to hide now days.
$850 for this RMR yikes. I can just about buy 3 DPP for that.. 👀 American made is cool and all.. But so is having money in my pocket at the end of the week..
Yeah, it really is difficult for me to shill out almost as much as the gun it's sitting on for a simple red dot. Call me cheap, but I love my 507C variants. For people who aren't beating up their guns in real duty use (which is most of us, let's be honest) it's mostly just a flex. If you think you're going to break a Holosun, sure. Buy a trijicon. But you probably won't break it, because you won't use it enough and you aren't going to war with it. You'll be fine.
Thanks for the video Lucas. I know you mentioned that RU-vid is hard to keep up on lateky but these to the point type videos are great and especially because I’m pretty interested in them. I have nothing but RMR’s and one Acro pistol so I’ve been really intrigued by the RCR.l
I don’t know if I would call this competition. The new RMR is not doing anything that hasn’t already been done before, but it has the price tag like it’s one of a kind.
It’s an American made optic and you know there’s people that refuse to buy Chineseum. It’s making a more diverse optic choice for everyone which just keeps making other companies innovate.
@@gbarraza2012 but this really isn’t that big of a step forward for them. The glass still has a very noticeable blue tint to it. Way more than the SRO, and because this new RMR body sits forward more, certain gun models and optics cuts it actually won’t work because it’ll interfere with the ejection port.
Holosun is just the smart choice if you want to save money. I hate China as much as the next guy...but I also like money, and Holosun does make damn fine optics.
The reason they chose the second reticle is because a lot of people like to use the rmr or similar on a Rifle setup, either as an offset red dot or a micromount riser for a sub-gun to reduce weight
With an MSRP of $850 is a no go. The only selling point is the RMR footprint. It looks like a Holosun 507 and EPS clone at almost double the price. And there is the new Sig Sauer Romeo X and the Aimpoint ACRO P2 that is a price point of $250 to $400 lower than the Trijicon.
Nothing beats the Holosun’s equipped with the Primary Arms ACSS Vulcan Reticle. If you’re not familiar, the “ACSS” is a chevron vs a dot and the “Vulcan” is an outer ring that you only see when the dot/chevron isn’t in the window. It’s fist for shooting offhand or in unusual positions.
@@smith8124 because Trijicon is beautifully done compact RMR red dot that is combat proven and has been for years on years and involved with many conflicts while Holosun is cheap Chinese garbage that is rebranded in the US and is known for having a multitude of issues causing even multiple law enforcement agencies across the country to drop them from usage. That never happens with Trijicon 🤷🏽♂️
Great presentation, i can’t and/or wont argue with major of what you decided to cover with this video (vs other youtuber). Two additional things i would like to have seen / would like to see . 1) would you realistically consider replacing a RMR or SRO with one these (and what factor play into it), or if given a choice between the 4, where would you pick and not pick one over the SRO/RMR {to be fare you(both of you) start to or eluded to these answers at multiple points in the video, but for the most part did not explicitly state it} 2) how do they shoot in low light (like say the range from this video at dawn/dusk {i can only image insect assault level verse what did just endured}) or scenario where you are actually shoot from/into a dark room to well light/ outside midday. Thanks again for quality content.
I recently got 2 acro p2s, and just sent 2 slides in for milling kind of wish these came out sooner but if the acros do fail, I'll have found out about these new trijicons dependability level.
