Flick works great for me on fastest. The inconsistency of left or right is maddening. I'll swing "the same" and the ball goes left or right completely randomly. Its making challenges like making two chips or a flop all but impossible.
The swing mechanics are very good,i learned how to swing straight after a week.Another factor with the swing is swing speed .This not easy to teach, practice makes perfect.
After playing rory McIlroy for years its going to be hard to get used to not holding the stick after a shot, but thank you so much for the info, i was getting ready to give up on this game as getting slow all the time was killing my enjoyment for it
Hope this tutorial helps you understand how the mechanics of the swing and tempo work. If you are looking for a description of how fast/slow tempo changes the accuracy of your shots and what it does to the ball, please check out this video at the timestamp I have provided: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bygyHMabJ0E.html Edit: I have found that the putting method for tempo also works for chipping. I read on EA’s website and understood it when on course when i saw it; that your yardages and ball flight differ from high altitude courses to coastal courses, not just the run of the ball but the actual flights and length of clubs do too. Apologies if you were already aware of this. But i noticed it when i went from PGA west where my driver goes 293 yards but pebble beach it says 303 yards.
Jesus! Finally a video that explains the mechanic in this game! I’ve been looking for a week any everyone just talks about the game, how to exploit XP or anything else but not how to tune in your god dam swing in the game to just be a better player. My shots are perfect but all over the place, either long, short, left or right when all the visual aids tell me I did nothing wrong.
I am loving my Career mode, its got depth, and iam loving completing each comp by playing the course 4 times, it's a grind, but with the tee and wind changes it makes it fun.
How such a well-funded developer includes tons of well-made fluff for the game but then proceeds to not include even the simplest of tutorials for the very core of the game is beyond me as a developer myself. Thank you so much for making this, I would never have figured that one out - I held the stick at the top after the forward motion, which indeed works great for putting! I thought that's my controller causing this and putting is just slower so my swing was more adequate. xD Next time EA can get like 10-15% higher ratings by spending a single day making a one-screen tutorial for the swing mechanics in game :D hope you got a nice little check for making the video for them. Cheers!
I guess I'm the only one whom has a problem with having to hold the controller and manipulate the analog stick in an unnatural way to try to have the best chance at a straight forward and back position. It's ridiculous and should have other options. No, the 3 click option is not an option because, you can't play most of the challenges or tourneys unless you use the analog. Complete garbage.
My controller is connected to PC, and vibration non-exist because Steam not implemented that controller.. So I just use deadzones. Not my fault, so I use such settings.
Hey Respawn, have you ever used the rule of 12 for chipping? it has really made that shot more useful for me. the rule is to take the total distance to the cup, divide by the distance you are aiming the shot. then subtract that number from 12. the result is the club you should use. for example, cup is 15 yards away, my marker is set at 5 yards, the result would be a 9 iron. 15/5 and then 12-3. This works really well for chips that are fairly level. for up or downhill change to rule of 11 for uphill and rule of 13 for downhill. you also may have to go down if the greens are really fast for that particular course.
I got it out of the store. I know they rotate those everyday so might just have to wait for the refresh to grab it. It was called lightning or something like that.
Its explained on their website but they dont even have their website in the game as in somewhere to go to learn about the game, could be better but thankfully we have respawn to teach us 💪🏼
Cheers m8...Made a heck of a difference...Now i just need to get to grips with the distance the ball travels past the shot marker. Not played for some years and i seem to remember the marker being the total distance...But its all fun :)
5:47 well, that is not true. It vibrates if you go off too far from the middle plane, but I produce uncentered swings like your "bad" examples without having a vibration. Very frequently I might add.
It is sick how this game was 15x better 15 years ago. They absolutely ruined a once great game. Whoever changed the swing mechanics should check themselves out.
Thanks! I still don't really understand what over/under swing is. I think I understand fast/slow if it's the same as in 2K, but how does that notch on the swing meter work? Is that just ideal power? How do you control over and under swing? Does it have to do with the notch on the swing meter?
Nice video! I am new to swing mechanics and am ALWAYS slow on the second swing. No matter how hard I try I can not do fast or perfect. But because its Golf I can adapt to this. I add about an extra 5-10 yards of distance, depending on club and situation. I have scored 3 Albatrosses so far and got my first Ace a few days ago. Feels good to not HAVE to be good. I will always be slow, but I will always be close ^
While I appreciate importance of the downswing especially in a golf game, but maybe I’m used to 2k as I prefer to hold the stick to make sure I follow through. Sort of how I would in a real life swing. It doesn’t matter if I bring the club back to the tee after I hit it.
This is the most idiotic and complicated controls I've ever seen. There would be nothing wrong with it if there was no choice, I want to play on the pad or not. It would be nice if EA Sports also thought about older people and their limitations. I bought an expensive game and I can't use it fully because I can't handle the pad
Why does putting have a swing plane? I'm tired of the ball just shooting off in a different direction than i aimed. Is it simulating it slipping in my hand. This game makes no sense. I cant get any consistency with the stick. I got a perfect by holding at the top but then never again. Also tour tourny seems to have a different tempo. I have no vibration working in the game on xbox. Cant see in game setting for it. btw thanks for the fade swing plain explanation but i dont see a normal shot swing plain explanation. Why are my shots going off right or left?
I notice you have a indicator at the top of the white swing meter bar that let's you see you reached the top of your swing power how did you apply that cause I don't have it on mine and it would also be very helpful.
On the player there is a swing plane at the top of that there is a blue line?? My player doesn't have this why is that?? Can someone please help me please
I've tried both - but found that holding method gives me accuracy and the "slow" doesnt feel like it affects me negatively enough to be worth trying the release method. Would rather have the accuracy.
After 20 yrs of 3 click why would I want to waste my time with this stick jockey maneuvers?.. 3 click leys you focus on the measurements of golf not stick flicking. I hate the way 2K looks but at least with 3 click I can get both games and play them without dedicating my life to it lol
I use the slow swing tempo, with 2 fingers to rock backwards and then forwards. Works well for me, usually a 2.8-3.0 slow on takeaway,+ 2.5 downswing nets around a 100%!!! I also use KontrolFreek Call of Duty Modern Warfare Performance Thumbsticks for PS5. They have six sides vs round buttons that will help lock in a perfect swing plane!!! Has improved my game immensely😀 Now trying some True Sim, thats a game changer there😮
I will say this for EA, the swing tempo is much more reasonable than 2k23. Seems there it's either perfect timing or your ball ends up OB, there's no in between. There's just slow and very slow. EA gives it as a percentage to the decimal and as long as I'm slow or fast within 2% it's more or less okay whereas 2k23 the slightest timing mistake sends the ball spinning out of bounds or a 50 yard drive.
This video is full of good info. My biggest issue is that controllers are not designed well and its practically impossible to pull the stick back and forward straight. Even yourself is using your thumb and finger while holding your controller with 1 hand. My other issue is there is still no proper online in this game. I need clubhouses to join and play against other clubhouses. I think EA really dropped the ball with this game. 2023, and they completely leave online out of a game that had online 10 years ago when they actually made good golf games
Here's something I realize today goes along with tips and tricks if you create a new golfer by clicking on the bottom-right tab you start from scratch what's your name your golfer and create them if you go to your clubs. You get all the VC that you have in your other character plus all of the attributes you've bought in for the clubs legendary and such. Check it out.. Your new creative character starts off amazing because they get all the specs
Curious - have you had a big hit moment using the analog stick (slow motion swing)? I’m using the stick on the “tour” gameplay mode and I believe I accidentally got one but can’t get another one at all. No problem getting them with the three click method, though.
Great vid. I still prefer fastest with the flick, but there's a real knack to it in this game. I find if I grip the handle really tight with my three fingers it puts my thumb on a perfect line that rarely misses. It's pretty well locked in now. Thanks SO much for shining some light on the fade/draw mechanics. I'd just stopped using it because it was ridiculous and you miss so many birdie opps especially at places like Bay Hill. As a general comment the instructions and EA's general information is garbage for this game. I wanted to turn on Mulligans - I don't use them except if my controller goes flat during a shot and it's handy if it does. I've turned it on but I'll be damned if I can find the button. Even their instruction manual says you can trigger a Mulligan by pressing 'a button'. Cheers for that. I went onto their live chat and the guy tried to tell me you press the X button, which is literally the button that skips you to the next screen and voids the opportunity to use Mulligan. I just gave up. Cheers again man!
I'm using the flick method (fastest swing) for all of the shots except for the putting, for which I get more straight shots with the "normal" method. Moreover I noticed that the draw/fade "angled path" in Simulation difficulty with the flick method is impossible (at least for me), since the joypad lever naturally follows the orthogonals
Putting speed is where u end up leaving the aim arrow. If u notice the further past the hole the arrow is, the line for the putt tempo goes back further. Now obviously you don't wanna do the follow thru at warp speeds, and I don't think holding it forward does anything, but I haven't tried that yet.
Seems like you've got a lot more points in power than I do! I'm about the same level as you but nowhere near the distance as you have, I just put 4 points in. Care to show us your current point distribution? I wonder what you've kind of not put any points in.
I have a hard time in the challenge mode it says hit 5 long drives 100% but can't get it to register the drive go over swing but doesn't work? Any help?
I've recently upped my difficulty level from tour to simulation and it seems like a bad tempo is far more likely to send the ball into the long grass. This video is just what i needed.
