This deck can just win on turn 4 with minimal work: T2 Daxos/Anafenza, T3 Heliod, T4 Ballista for 1 and put the second counter on Ballista, give lifelink, gg or T3 Heliod, T4 Ballista for 1, play Idyllic Grange and put counter on Ballista, give lifelink, gg Even with 25 lands, you are still likely to only draw two lands and not go off. Just ask my Mono-W opponents last week.

What I'd love to see isn't so much another deck tech, but you taking the previous Challenger decks and upgrading them for Pioneer. Lots of LGSs that I've been to have older ones on the shelf, and they seem like great entries into Pioneer with some tweaks. I'd love to see a video going through those tweaks.

out of topic (mostly) in the end during the list of patreons, theres a small clip of another video. i really LOVE those videos. i wish there were more of them. there could be an entire channel dedicated for them! so, please Professor, could you arrange* more of them? *gathering the actors and planning etc goes more into the term "arrange" rather than just "make", i figured

Sooooo glad I picked up those old 2018 challenger decks when they were discounted at GameStop. I have 2 counter surges! Time to open them up for Walkie B. And build this deck! Also enjoyed the mono blue devotion deck tech. Maybe do a video for the other mono color’s pioneer decks?

Wow turn 4 win with perfect opening. Turn 2 daxos. Turn 3 heliod. Turn 4 ballista for x = 1, which triggeres daxos, which triggeres heliod, put on ballista, commence loop. Chiefs kiss!

The idea that we are “holding the combo decks at bay” with ballista heliod suggests pioneer has gotten to that gross status already.

After playing 10-15 matches with a similar variant of this deck, it feels more like a Midrange Combo deck than an Aggro Combo deck. It doesn't have a fast clock without the combo. It plays the defense role against aggro decks well, but is not very good as the aggressor when up against a control deck. Also, it's fine to play on paper, but on online platforms the repetitive execution of the combo is quite tedious. Reminds me of a certain animal oven combo.

Honestly I have strayed away from the WB/Helio combo. People see it coming from miles away. Control decks will leave up mana for a counterspell to hit either combo piece and Aggro will just continue smashing face like normal unless you get it off no later than t4 or t5. I have seen too many cards hate on the combo but honestly, if the rest of the bodies that have hit the field help push through, I can see myself playing this list. It does seem super fun. Just don't see it going over well tbh.

The deck seems really good but I’ve played against several times and have yet to lose. I beat it with Gruul Aggro by playing bigger creatures and holding up Atarka’s Command. All my Izzet deck has to do is sweep the board once and counter anything significant afterwards.

I'm pretty sure there are good sacrifice Rakdos decks in Pioneer. There was a really good aggro one last time I checked but I can't remember the name of it, only that it existed lol. There's definitely a way to make Rakdos really good in Pioneer I'm sure of it.

The nyx lotus is a bit too slow for pioneer generally and in this agro deck definitely. Coming in tapped and costing 4 to begin with isn't really feasible when you ideally wanna win by turn 4 or 5 anyways. If you find a good way to adapt a mono colored deck into more of a mid-range deck then the nyx lotus may be a great budget alternative to Nykthos, but there's just not really a way to compare it to the real deal in this list.

Kinda sad that the 'good' white deck in Pioneer is built around a combo with a Kaladesh abomination. I'd sooner see Ballista banned and there be no token white deck for WotC to claim as evidence the color isn't struggling as frankly I'm not convinced there's any merit to mono white outside of the combo.

Hum... I guess so, yes? But it just so happens that for the cost of a Tier 1 Pioneer deck (~$500) you could also buy a perfectly good Modern deck such as Dredge, Storm, Bogles, Burn, etc.
