I just started carrying a few days ago and on day one I did the cheater grip. It seems like the logical thing to do. It’s other advantage is it looks like a standing posture so it makes your draw considerably quieter or people may not even realize you’re prepping to pull your firearm because everyone is so used to seeing one drawn normally. At least that’s how I think about it
I love this video. As many times, as I’ve practiced your black belt standards, I’ve never allowed myself to try it this way. I’ve also never been able to make the black belt standards either. Maybe I’ll change both. It’s definitely a bucket list. Item of mine to be able to deliver in front of you and or AJ
If you compete, especially in a new game, you study the rules. If it isn’t prohibited, you’re doing it if you gain advantage. Those who don’t see the opportunities to gain advantages are the ones whining.
Hey Scott, M level shooter here training hard to GM this year. Question... I compete in CO which has restrictions (no ports/magwells). I have a monsoon ported gucci g19 for carry, but I train 95% of the time with a restricted CO g19. Would you move the percentages? 50-50 maybe? I worry that training more with the gucci gun then "stepping down" to a CO setup for competition may hurt performance as I need to adjust to a different level of recoil sensation. My current thinking is train more with the pistol that's more difficult to shoot, then the gucci carry will be easy mode by comparison. Am I thinking about this correctly? Thoughts? Thanks, W.
Lot of variables there. I would even out each guns performance to make them more comparable. Gucci ported 19 for EDC. Then Glock 34 with 13 lb recoil spring with 130 PF ammo. They will be same same…but different. 😁
Respect your opinion on this. I did law enforcement for 10 years and another career last 10 years, going back to law enforcement, duty gun will be gen 5 G17 no dot allowed. For the past 6 years my EDC has been Walther Q4SF, AIWB with an SRO. The question is should I still carry my current set up for off duty, or switch to a similar carry gun, ex G19 no red dot at 3 o'clock carry so I have similar battle of arms? Is that smarter or does it matter. What do you carry off duty?
I do not disagree. I think what some people are saying, in the context of civilian defence scenarios, that prepping your draw, given the situation, will telegraph your punch. In some scenarios that might be bad, you might want to fein compliance and wait your turn. It seems quite situational.
