I may be wrong but it seems that in this song one of the vocal tracks, the high pitched one we hear, is generated - 1 octave or something added to what he actually sings.
I laughed out loud when i first saw the title "Winter songs" by Halford, i thought to myself " totally unexpected and fucking brilliant". And it was, absolutely amazing stuff, this is what metal is all about. Good times!
It's something UDO-ish over the bridge and chorus. Very catchy. Halford is really good at that. He isn't just an excellent singer, but he is very good at composing catchy vocal melody-lines.
Rob you have the best voice in music period. . . I wish you would do a gospel CD, the LORD wants to use you so badly. You hint around about GOD in songs like Exciter and Judas is Writing, I wish you would go the extra step and allow Christ to use you more.

@Whackooyzero On November 10th, 2009, he described himself as a "heavy metal Christian" in an interview with a Phoenix radio station called KUPD. He also discussed becoming more devout than his family members since youth in an interview with the Montreal Gazette. I admire that he reconciles it so well with his homosexuality, really. I owe Metal more respect than to acknowledge contrived grimness as anything other than amateur black metal bands trying too hard to be kvlt instead of good
Is this really Rob Halford's YT channel? If so many kudos to you Mr. Halford for having you comments section enabled! Most of your peers, & their official channels never allow for their listeners to comment on their content. Of course there are a lot of blatant idiot trolls that will come w/I'll will & stupidity towards the content creators, but for the most part it's huge life long fans that just want to connect w/the artist to let them know how much the content creators meant to them thru out their lives.
Go see a concert he can do screams so good from ear piercing high notes to Seth Putnam type screams, he tends to start losing his voice near the end of the concert but oh well, he also adds in some death growls too.
@Whackooyzero There's pathos and there's bathos. There's tension and there's melodrama. Likewise, there are bands who give artistically viable treatment to macabre themes and ones that just hork the symbolism for no other reason than to appease groupthink.
He doesn't do the high notes, or screams, these days. But he can. Check out Wrathchild from the "Live At Ullevi" concert (you can find it on youtube). There he does a serious scream.
@bubbatha There's an interview somewhere on here where he says he plays a little guitar on the album too. No surprise since he wrote the entirety of War of Words himself. He has more up his sleeve than a great voice. :)
