99% of those who comment negatively about jkd. Haven’t seen real jkd. Good video on the rear hand. Also known as the reserve. As most work is done with the lead. If it’s jammed up or miss, use the reserve. Simple.

Cool video, thanks! Before watching it, I tried to think how I would use the rear hand myself. What I was thinking is that it would be in some combination requiring footwork - for example, using the straight lead to cover the distance, and following with a rear hook to the body

@3:36 Slip or flank a right punch then follow with that left. I was thinking this shot. You can also even uppercut. Straight lead, then uppercut with the left I do it all the time.

I talked to Ramsey Dewey about Bruce’s training and my opinion that he can beat Jackie Chan and jet li since that was the vids topic. he said that every martial artist thinks they are training techniques that are banned in mma. I asked him more then once if groin kicks and eye jabs are banned or not and he hasn’t answered my question. Lost respect for that guy.

Of course there are restricted things in MMA, therefore it‘s called a sport. It‘s also good sportsmanship to respect your opponent and not kill him in the ring. The banned things as listed by Sifu Thomas are easily learned especially when being fit like UFC fighters. They are no joke, it‘s the ultimate test for oneself to step into the ring with all these rules. Also weightclasses are a must in a ring where you‘re continually trapped and have to withstand enemy blows to conquer the ring mid. So weight does play a big role as the opponent is going to tank more likely hits from someone who‘s lighter than you. With all these rules it doesn‘t matter if you generate as much power as a heavyweight as they tank these hits regularly by opponents of the same size and you can‘t even hit critical spots. Let‘s not even consider them hugging you and putting you on the floor. McGregor f.e. here is bench pressing 100kg with ease and the weights are strapped with therabands on the floor. That‘s insane superhuman strength, but still got beaten like a chicken in the ring by a grappler. So there is constant evolvement in MMA and Bruce would have been outdated for the sports but not for streetfights as they are. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2BZDEPErl5M.html

@@KnightEnd25 you said it yourself. It’s a sport, and no, some of things are not easily learnt. Bruce Lee was raining 25/30 hours a week for years doing hundreds of reps a day, sometimes more, to thousands of reps a week of these techniques. It’s takes a long time to get good at this stuff and be accurate against a moving target. You might only get one chance to stop the guy before things escalate to an even worse situation. This stuff takes hours and hours and hours of training to be able to pull it off without any hesitations. No mma fighters can do this because they don’t train for this.

To be honest what you describe is extremely useful if someone understands the importance of what you teach and dedicates oneself to perfecting efficiency. I just wanted to say in a streetfight there are several mor things to consider. For example am I rightful in fighting for something or someone, also there are several more factors or forces if I may say so. If the opponent is big and very fast powerful it‘s mor likely someone smaller and with less weight is going to step back from this fight. It‘s also our voice that plays a role, as animals who‘re big also make loud noises. A commander on a battlefield f.e. has to be able to shout powerful and give orders to others. The voice of someone being powerful enough can already decide battles. Also the mentality of someone and his will in his eyes plays a role, there is already a force pushing someone down if not confident enough in you own abilities. So we also need the heart to fight like a lion and also we need to morally accept what we are doing is rightful etc. Just wanted to point these things out, I thank you as I understand what you mean with stepping while punching and also being able to hit while retreating. In order to do this effectively one needs to train footwork isometric strength training for explosiveness in movement with feet and strength while hitting from short distances. I think that‘s all there is to it, some are gifted and some will never get there even with their training.

@@ThomasMarxJeetKuneDoIFO “@gw1357 • 10 hr ago @axelstone3131 I don't think l agree that most of what Bruce Lee practiced was anti-grappling. If you look at what's in his notes in TJKD, its mostly grappling finishes. I think what TJKD really does not like is the idea of grappling/wrestling for position. It wants to apply a finishing hold when the opportunity presents, like it applies a trap or a strike. You sort of see that in the way Lee applied throws in the Long Beach sparring. You're right that TJKD isn't a "how to" guide. But it is the conceptual framework for JKD and provides an exemplar from which the student can structure his own self study. Which is exactly my point about emphasizing the principle of intercepts in counter-grapples.”

@@ThomasMarxJeetKuneDoIFO if it wasn’t for your channel, Tommy and John, I wouldn’t have ever learnt the things I’ve learnt about JKD like I have. So many people think tao is a how to book on JKD. I told the guy to watch John’s videos “training for efficiency in JKD” he hasn’t watched it. He said he’s been reading the two for 30 years lol. And the other idiot who “devilishly _delicious” wouldn’t either. He said he’s had 5 years training and he’s beat bruce and a guy whose “6 ft 200lbs” would floor him.. 🤔 those stats sounds very similar to Joe Lewis, didn’t he humble him and then when they could have fought Joe walked away. These people are clowns. He even said Bruce was “one dimensional only fighting in a one dimensional space” and didn’t underhand “circles” because he didn’t study kali 🤣 the guy was a fkn idiot. Blocked and removed him. I also noticed he’s not commented on your channel or johns, so for all the talk of being a badass, having not videos of himself training or doing anything. He was all talk like the idiot hippo. All these guys are the same. The guy kept slamming me for 48 hours about how JKD is no good and Bruce wasn’t either. Just wouldn’t stop. “@DEVILISHLY_DELICIOUS • 16 hr ago @axelstone3131 if the only principle of jkd is hit the nearest target with the nearest weapon then it is a style for people with zero creativity. The best fighters aren't the best fighters because they are fast, strong, or big. They are the best fighters because they are really smart and can see patterns in the movement of their opponent and create patterns that trick their opponent into thinking they see patterns. That's how you time a calculated attack/counter attack. Jkd is not a real fighting style if it doesn't work like every other style in the way I just described.” “@DEVILISHLY_DELICIOUS • 1 hr ago @axelstone3131 nope. I never trained to compete in a dojo. I trained to actually defend myself in real life. That's what the class was. That's why we trained to fight against people with different kinds of weapons, even guns. I'm opinionated because I'm educated on everything we were talking about. You defended the side that was always going to lose. Sorry. Bruce Lee wouldn't win a streetfight against a 6ft 200 lb man who has had the level of training l've had, which was only 5 yrs. FYI, I was teaching the class after 3 yrs.” 🤣

Hi Thomas, I know it's off topic, but I wanted to wait with this until you made a new video, so now: Of course it's only a question, but if you have time and fun, can you do at some point a video about this sad incident in Germany from a couple weeks ago, when this 29-yrs old cop was brutally stabbed and killed by an Islamist? I asked because I saw some other German martial arts channels like "MA lifestyle" or something like that did video's about it, and they say this incident just underlines how useless and dangerous these fake knife disarm techniques are, which are still taught to this day in some classes. There exist a video about the attack, and you see how effective and upredictable this Islamic dude handles his knife, and that it's simply impossible to use these so called "knife defense" techniques against it. Cheers and go on! :)
