Your idea is very similar to Sayf Carman's.....this is the thing that the JKD community is suffering from, non-compliance with Lee's philosophy....putting the link of the video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lSAU3QZZmVo.htmlsi=40hiMwpgadwnib7V
Hi, Thomas. I really hope you could do more youtube "Live" with Sifu Tommy. The last time you live stream with was a year ago 🙏 please do more, we miss to hear from Tommy already 😭🙏
That's what they do in the octagon, that's what they've trained to do in sport & that's what they are most likely going to do under pressure if they had to defend themselves in the street. "You can only fight the way you practice." - Miyamoto Musashi [The Book of Five Rings]
@@jagger_claw So jkd can protect you from 4 attackers? What makes you think a MMA can't take defend themselves on the streets. The fact there in better shape then average jkd practice..I seen dozens of videos jkd getting their ass beat in Vale tudo matches..
He teaches Kali and jun fan kung fu and calls it jkd. And he does it reluctantly because he says "there was only one Bruce Lee." So don't even try, I guess? Also Bruce and him were not the close friends they are made out to be. Dan kept adding stuff and Bruce kept subtracting and it caused a lot of friction between them. Also, Dan didn't like to spar because he didn't like having punches or kicks thrown at him and was too lazy to put on sparring equipment. The more you know
@@PingTPunk-rq9us kicking the knee and snapping the kick into the knee to snap the leg aren’t the same. The kick that’s being mentioned here isn’t legal.
@axelstone3131 It's not illegal in UFC and One FC. These sports have specific rules and banned moves and, if not listed they are legal. The list is short (inclusive of both rules), but in terms of striking its only: 12-6 elbows Soccer kicks to the head of a grounded opponent Stomps to a grounded opponent Head butting Eye gouging Throat strikes Clawing Groin stikes Stikes to the spine or back of the head
@@PingTPunk-rq9us JKD people don’t care about sport. The way they kick to the knee in mma is like a push kick meant as a distraction. It rarely has intent behind it and it certainly isn’t a side kick.
Power slap is stupid and dangerous. I saw the kicking video. I’m not sure if it’s cause you linked it before or I saw it randomly but I also thought what’s the point 🤷♂️
In the Spike Milligan COMEDY series in the 1980s Q they had boxer ALAN MINTER (who had just lost to HAGLER) hit Spike Milligan repeatedly in the face knocking him to the canvas every single time he did it... But TODAY in 2024 it seems that REAL 'martial artists' are actually GREEN LIGHTING this barmy practice as a LEGITIMATE enterprise 🤨🥴🙄
Very good lesson and good points,..to me kicking in the thigh muscle is a waste of energy .. when I took TKD..back in the day I would question that kick ..I would say this isn't going to affect a 200 pound guy or really stop him .. through the years I found the cause of my ignorance .. especially when I started training in JKD and changed my whole perspective..
@@franktidwell8392 when people talking about “fighting” in a self defence situation you want to stop the guy, not fight him. So many stupid many stupid mma idiots on RU-vid that have no idea about staying safe. It’s all trying to be tough and macho. Good way to end up with your head kicked in.
That's an AMERICAN jkd recruitment poster isn't it ? ....As long as its the JOHN PAUL JKD American Poster & not the 'JKD ACADEMY of MMA American poster 🤔🤨🥴 lol
@@axelstone3131 seriously,, I think martial art ist the only area filled with the most delusional and fraudster people. No other bussines or departmet, if you will so, has that many loosers and wannabes .
@@ThomasMarxJeetKuneDoIFO there are some fake doctors around. But considering how long he’s apparently trained he was pretty useless. I feel sorry for his students. He moved to Africa cause he wouldn’t have made it in England. Says he’s African but he’s white lol 🤦♂️
@@ThomasMarxJeetKuneDoIFO the amount of RU-vid experts who keep trying to tell me what JKD is and what Bruce’s approach is is really beginning to piss me off. Writing paraphrases and paragraphs expecting me to read it. RU-vid expert nobodies.
Thomas, what’s your favourite comment from the haters about Bruce Lee that you keep hearing? Mine is probably “martial arts has evolved since Bruce Lee” 🤣
@@ThomasMarxJeetKuneDoIFO tried to tag you but it won’t let me post the screenshot so I’ll post it here. I just saw this “@stephanwatson7902 • 1 yr ago I've got a good Dan Hardy quote that sums up the problems with JKD today, he responded with this to me in the comments! "Anybody training JKD today hasn't read, or properly understood the Tao of Jeet Kune Do. The best source of realistic fighting is found in MMA gyms today, Bruce Lee's concepts applied to modern MMA is where it's at, and many of his concepts have been proven true by the filtration process of mixed martial arts."
99% of those who comment negatively about jkd. Haven’t seen real jkd. Good video on the rear hand. Also known as the reserve. As most work is done with the lead. If it’s jammed up or miss, use the reserve. Simple.
This is the only channel I have seen that uses movement with pads. I made a comment about static punching and how ineffective that is and suggested to add movement for realism and I was told I had no idea what I was talking about. Talk about closed minded.
“@Pedro_Le_Chef • 41 min ago @axelstone3131 "fencing has superior mobility over boxing" It doesn't. You haven't seen master boxers using their jabs like rapiers and moving in and out of range before their opponents can catch them. I recommend you watch footage of Ali, Gene Tunney and Tommy Loughran. Boxers can be very fast.” I’ve seen em all. 🤔
I think striking coaches are actually afraid of their students of any skill level eventually overthrowing them. It makes sense why bjj/striking are so controlling ò their students.
@@ThomasMarxJeetKuneDoIFO “@gw1357 • 10 hr ago @axelstone3131 I don't think l agree that most of what Bruce Lee practiced was anti-grappling. If you look at what's in his notes in TJKD, its mostly grappling finishes. I think what TJKD really does not like is the idea of grappling/wrestling for position. It wants to apply a finishing hold when the opportunity presents, like it applies a trap or a strike. You sort of see that in the way Lee applied throws in the Long Beach sparring. You're right that TJKD isn't a "how to" guide. But it is the conceptual framework for JKD and provides an exemplar from which the student can structure his own self study. Which is exactly my point about emphasizing the principle of intercepts in counter-grapples.”
@axelstone3131 Most of the grappling stuff in the tao are sketches for the fighting scenes in his movies. It was a mistake that those did end up in the book in the first place. Lol, that's hilarious, isn't it....
@@ThomasMarxJeetKuneDoIFO if it wasn’t for your channel, Tommy and John, I wouldn’t have ever learnt the things I’ve learnt about JKD like I have. So many people think tao is a how to book on JKD. I told the guy to watch John’s videos “training for efficiency in JKD” he hasn’t watched it. He said he’s been reading the two for 30 years lol. And the other idiot who “devilishly _delicious” wouldn’t either. He said he’s had 5 years training and he’s beat bruce and a guy whose “6 ft 200lbs” would floor him.. 🤔 those stats sounds very similar to Joe Lewis, didn’t he humble him and then when they could have fought Joe walked away. These people are clowns. He even said Bruce was “one dimensional only fighting in a one dimensional space” and didn’t underhand “circles” because he didn’t study kali 🤣 the guy was a fkn idiot. Blocked and removed him. I also noticed he’s not commented on your channel or johns, so for all the talk of being a badass, having not videos of himself training or doing anything. He was all talk like the idiot hippo. All these guys are the same. The guy kept slamming me for 48 hours about how JKD is no good and Bruce wasn’t either. Just wouldn’t stop. “@DEVILISHLY_DELICIOUS • 16 hr ago @axelstone3131 if the only principle of jkd is hit the nearest target with the nearest weapon then it is a style for people with zero creativity. The best fighters aren't the best fighters because they are fast, strong, or big. They are the best fighters because they are really smart and can see patterns in the movement of their opponent and create patterns that trick their opponent into thinking they see patterns. That's how you time a calculated attack/counter attack. Jkd is not a real fighting style if it doesn't work like every other style in the way I just described.” “@DEVILISHLY_DELICIOUS • 1 hr ago @axelstone3131 nope. I never trained to compete in a dojo. I trained to actually defend myself in real life. That's what the class was. That's why we trained to fight against people with different kinds of weapons, even guns. I'm opinionated because I'm educated on everything we were talking about. You defended the side that was always going to lose. Sorry. Bruce Lee wouldn't win a streetfight against a 6ft 200 lb man who has had the level of training l've had, which was only 5 yrs. FYI, I was teaching the class after 3 yrs.” 🤣
Thomas, there is a guy spamming my posts on my wall. The third video down where Adam chan talks about Bruce, and some posts further down on Bruce’s fight record. He won’t shut the f up. I know I could mute him and remove him but I just want the guy to be shown he doesn’t have all the answers and is wrong. I can’t be bothered to reply to the idiot anymore. He’s really really opinionated and stuck up. Extremely arrogant. Keeps looking at everything from a “sport” mma context.
