I remember my first try doing eights and u-turns. Omg man, was horrifying the first tries 😄. It took me like half an hour to lean more and more and get over my fear of falling. Then after a few lessons, was an absolute breeze to do eights and u-turns. It can seem impossible the first time but keep trying. Trust me, u will succed !

Leaning the bike over can be the most terrifying and the most exhilarating part of owning a scoot. When you finally scrape your floorboard (on a touring bike) in a turn and your backside clinches up like a hydraulic press but you don't die it is the most amazing feeling you can get on two wheels!

One of the scariest moments of my riding life was going way too fast in a corner. I leaned that puppy down until I heard the foot pegs scraping and I was just heading for the other lane on a blind curve. Got lucky that day and no one was in the other lane, and I learned a valuable lesson that day. I will never forget it man.

Ive been struggling for years and years with cornering. Im in the uk so most left handers are cambered left so i find im slightly more confident. But right handers scare me a lot. Roundabouts in particular are my worst fear especially in the wet. I also fear spillages like diesel and so after over the last 20 years this fear has been my constant companion and seems to be taking over. Another problem i have at higher speeds is when i push on one handle bar and lean over this fear causes me to push at the same time with my opposing hand. Your advice on looking where you want to go now makes perfect sense as does your advice on practicing somewhere safe. I openly admit my fear but i find i get so frustrated with myself and subsequently ride so much slower. Im now 60 years old ut im determined to overcome my fear. Your videos i m hoping will rekindle my love of motorcycling. Thank you so much for your videos and advice. I cant wait to get out and practice. Kindest regards and respect to you sir. Ride safe .

In a turn I get afraid of scraping the floorboards lol. To do a turnaround in a street with a passenger is my biggest fear. Like when you were a kid you're always afraid for the front wheel turning sideways and throwing you. I get into a panic, so I'm headed for a parking lot to practice asap. Wish I could take your class I would love it....... thanks Marty from Michigan

My good friend is an ex copper who was on a bike. The best tip anyone, has ever given me, and it wasn't even taught in my Harley class that when making a turns like that, you push on the handlebar the direction you want to go. I was having SO much trouble in cornering and turns because i didn't know that. He mentioned it and explained it, I went home and tried and all a sudden I'm plowing through round abouts and curves like nothing.

Your video came up as a suggestion... Leaning my Ducati is one of the most thrilling parts of riding my bike. Although I have been riding for 20+ years, I still took an advanced riders course and still learned more than I thought I could. Biggest thing I see around here is object fixation and lack of training. Thanks for the video and I have hit that subscribe button! :-)

I’m new to riding but I think people forget only a part of your tire is in contact with the road at any given time. You have an entire tire to use the sides of your tire have just as much grip as the center. If you’re steering correctly, leaning, and accelerating through turns you are going to be fine.
@challengerbrant

please explain more about the tire and contact to the road. I really don't understand. Please, I'm trying to envision how complicated it is. Who does not understand the tire structure as you do? I'm fascinated by this .

Hi Jerry, I love all your videos. You’re very helpful. I ride a 2009 street glide. I don’t practice enough. I did make those nice tight u turns at my last advanced rider course. I know I can do it, but everything else is in my head. It’s an uncomfortable move because I don’t do it enough. Once I get my brain in gear, it will be like putting my socks on in the morning. Also I watched your video about the insulated and waterproof gloves, I ordered two pair of XL. The glove itself fits fine, it was almost impossible to get my hand past the cuff to get it on. I had to send them back, that’s too bad because I really liked them.

Im a flight instructor and biker. Seen that Fear of Leaning on pilots too. They overshoot the align, pull the controls up and crash a lot by stalling the airplane. One of the main cause of accidents. Mostly on non airliners.. Airliners avoid leaning. They make mostly straight approaches from far away to avoid low turns and leaning, dont do sightseen low fly overs, and long take offs too with slight leaning too.

The amazing physics of two wheels. It's really is a true practical science (knowledge) of itself, as is the observation of all of the many categories of physical phenomenon. We need a category like "Professor of Motor Sciences". But whatever you do, don't use that acronym on the end of your name on a business card. Better maybe, "Professor of Motor Physics". Anyway, when it's practiced, and done right, it's a beautiful thing. Again, thanks Motorman.

I am on my 3 full dress bike. I've been riding my whole life but man am i concerned leaning these bike over. What concerns me isn't falling over its the pipes, boards or something else catching. I try to follow friends through tight corners & some just pull away. I know I can ride every bit as well but I think im just not there yet. This is my 3 full dress bike but that's in the last 4 years. Seems like I should have gotten comfortably by now but I'm from IA & we just don't have the curves that the south has. Been going down to NW Arkansas because the roads & people are so amazing. I think your suggestion about push steering is probably going to make a real difference. I also thin i just simply need to go to a parking lot as you suggested & push the envelop gradually until I know when things are going to drag. Truly appreciate your videos.
