I'm rewatching a bunch of your videos to get my Maggie fix. I hope your youtube break is going well. I miss seeing your videos, but completely understand needing a break.
I’ve just added a drop of moisturizer or almond oil to any foundation and it’s instantly better. Now I’ve discovered L’Oreal 4 in 1 tinted balm and it’s awesome. Apply with fingers.
I keep hearing good things about it. I see the advertisements a lot, so I sort of assumed that I wouldn’t like it not sure why but I know Kris Over 50 really seem to like it and she is super picky about her foundations as well. Thanks for leaving the information and thank you for taking time to comment. I appreciate it.
I hope they don’t discontinue the EL Futurist! They did that once before and so happy they finally listened and brought it back. Many years between so hard to know which I liked better and obviously older by the time the new one came out. At 70, I prefer natural finish or satin. Anything shiny makes any wrinkles really stand out. I also like Shiseido Synchro foundation (both formulas).
Thank you for taking the time to comment Marie. I appreciate the feedback we have to share our advice and tips. It’s the only way to survive in this make up world!
Hi Maggie! I just found your channel. Loving it. I am from Brazil. We dont have most of the products you suggest, just the high end ones, but let me tell you. It is great listening to your tips and considerations on textures, mature skin etc I am learning a lot. I am 53. Thank you! Love your content ♥️🌹💄💋
My first time trying the original Estée Lauder and I was matched with this same shade n yeah not yellow or peach or gold. Just a great shade n true neutral because some neutral shades still have slight gold or yellow in it.
Yes I always have hard time finding neutral for my light skin and most look pink or dark on me and this is a perfect neutral match without any other color in it just plain neutral light
Late to the party here. I've tried two of your recommendations, and I seem to be the only person around who doesn't like the Illuminance foundation. It found lines I didn't even know I had and instantly aged me 10 years. However, I'll totally agree with your Neutrogena HydroBoost recommendation. Super flattering for all the reasons you state. FWIW, I'll be 66 in a few months. Sadly, my skin has changed a lot in the last 5 years, and not in a good way.
I have to watch this fully. I just spent all afternoon, hours, gutting out the little nook area in my bedroom to set up a RU-vid studio. I am talking years of paperwork. It's all done! Everything organized and a huge box to burn in the burn barrel. Ugh, I have been dragging my feet doing this.
Setting up the table on the lights in the tripod, and the camera and the… oh my I know exactly how you feel. And I struggle with clutter every single day.
I’ve been using Elemis Pro-Collagen Night Cream every night and have found that my skin feels much more hydrated during the day. It feels wonderful going on. I highly recommend it!
Having dry skin is quite an issue when one lives in a very dry climate. I lived in Colorado for a few years as a teenager (even then my skin was dry), and remember how dry it was there. I am in Southern California not too far from Palm Springs, and si products good for dry skin are really important to me. I probably need to try that Illuminance foundation. Sounds good!
I went into Ulta with the idea of coming out with something that is a great match I can stand to wear. I hate goo-ey feeling foundations and I really hate it if the foundation doesn't set. I came out with the EL Futurist in the 2N1 also! I'll have yet to find a primer that works for me. If I wear sunscreen, primer and then foundation I get milia all over & zits in my t-zone. I have lots of spider veins from radiation treatment 20 years ago that's now causing discoloration (I'm 65). For drugstore I have been using L'. Age Perfect Radiant Serum Foundation in Rosy Beige and want something that won't cause milia. I do love that SPF 50!
The struggle is real!! We are all so unique which is a great thing in general- but makes it hard to find products! I like that L’Oréal age perfect serum pretty well to, I think I also have the same color as you.
The best of all foundation is Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate…expensive but worth every penny. The coverage is beautiful I use one pump I don’t like full coverage and it’s not mask like.. you can add more if you feel it’s necessary…brush or beauty blender it’s your choice…🥳😊
Dry Over 50 skin here! I didn't like the Este Lauder ar all....no luminosity and not enough hydration🤷 These work really well on me: Kjaer Weis cream foundation, shiseido synchro skin glow, Chanel n 1.....
It's so funny how foundations can look so different, even with the same skin types. I love the Estee Lauder foundation. The synchro skin glow foundation from Shisedo was drying on me. I think so much has to do with skin prep. Thank you for the foundation suggestions.
@@gypsyjames5261 I know what you mean. People always say Luminous Silk is good - nope - dry. What stinks is when you find a holy grail and they reformulate it, even a little, can make a difference. Bobbi Brown serum foundation in the dropper was more thin and liquidy before recently - it’s a tad thicker- enough that it doesn’t melt in the same - I actually water it down with a drop of L’Oréal Serum foundation with the dropper, and now it’s more like it was - but for the price it should be perfect. I guess I can look at it as I can use L’Oréal to darken Sand, which is perfect for the winter - I can also use L’Oréal Light 1-2 to cool down ones that are too warm. I remember ones I thought were too dewy years ago now seem dry. And I still break out, get shiny, have texture and pores - no more days of slapping on whatever is cheapest in the drugstore. I high school, no primer, no setting spray, no brushes for buffing, just fingers. Somehow we managed.
I just found you in this video an I can't wait to try a new foundation. You are gorgeous! After seeing you in other videos, I can't tell you how much younger you look with short hair.
Oh thank you! I keep thinking it’s time to cut it but I’ve just been chicken I guess. Thanks for stopping by my channel and thanks for taking time to leave me a comment.
Hi Sheila, the Jones Road isn’t currently on my list of things to review. Mostly because I’ve sort of fallen out of affection with Bobby Brown as a person I usually don’t ignore products because this, but for some reason, she just really bugs me on Instagram these days.. I’ll probably get over it and reviewed at some point in the future. Thank you for taking the time to come in and leaving me the suggestion I really do appreciate your feedback.
New here I am 53. But love your channel . I love EL foundation because I can never found a match like EL. I wear 3c2 peeble . I hope they don’t discontinue it . I used to love their light wear foundation then they came out with new one which is not online at sephora I have to check Ulta
Hello, I’m a new subscriber. I’m several years older than you and have been searching for a new foundation. We have the same skin type. May try the Revlon and Tom Ford. My skin has changed so much.
I’m pretty sure it was the Revlon illuminants foundation. I’m actually pretty embarrassed that I didn’t write that down and put it in the comment description. 🫢
Hi, I’ll be 50 tomorrow 😳🤷🏼♀️ I have all of the foundations that you mentioned except for the Tom Ford, I don’t even know where they sell Tom Ford? I absolutely love the futurist, for me that one does not settle into anything. Now you have me wondering about the Hydro boost, I know I have it I just forget where I put it lol! I also picked up that Revlon and it’s nice but I’m not addicted to it or anything. I still like to wear the Estee Lauder double wear, it really covers and it does not dry me out as long as I prep my skin with moisturizing products. My skin is normal to dry.
Will a huge happy birthday to you, Belinda!! Thank you for taking the time to comment on my channel. They sell Tom Ford at Nordstrom’s and probably other.” fancy.” Stores that I rarely shop at because they’re so expensive but occasionally I stumble upon a good deal. I think I remember picking this up at a store called cosmetics outlet that was in the outlet mall outside of Seattle when I was visiting my daughter. I know this is really random, but I think the store is a chain that you can find at outlet malls across the country.
I’m that way with L’Oreal lipstick and all L’Oreal lip products. They have a weird taste that catches in the back of my throat and I can’t stand it. From what I gather it doesn’t affect everyone the same way, and lots of people can’t even detect that weird taste.
Hi Maggie....you look beautiful! Love the short hair (I want to cut mine short again...but I haven't found the right cut for my features). I'm enjoying the Revlon new foundation and I'm almost 65.....(recently did a video on it). I just found your channel so I subd 😊
Hi Nora, I just unboxed my first Ilyaskin tent today I’m working on a video round up with skin tense and I have to say I love it so far I haven’t fully finished testing it yet. But my hopes are high.
Im the same age as you. I had combo skin (w acne breakouts) when I left Florida and moved to New Mexico. Now, after a few yrs, I am Extremely Dry (still breakout but not quite as much). Anxious to try.some of your recommendations😅
Thanks for sharing!! I wish you luck in your search. I love to visit New Mexico I can eat my body weight in great food that you all have down there!!! I also like to camp in northern New Mexico. It is so beautiful.
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment. I was actually having a terrible hair day so I pinned up in the back. My hair is generally pretty chaotic, so I never know how it’s gonna turn out even when I try to style it. Not a wig.
Yep, as I near the end of my 50s, my skin is just changing every year-- at 51, it was not much different than 41, really. This helps b/c now I know that all of these are probably too heavy for me-- I prefer a light coverage, and that's just not the trend nowadays. Most medium coverage foundations don't seem to sheer out really well, either. I might sample that Tom Ford one.
Hello, I just subscribed to your channel and have been enjoying looking at your previous videos. Definitely going to try some new foundations. Could you please say what lipstick you are wearing- the color is lovely?💕💕
Thank you for subscribing Liz, I appreciate it so much. I am sorry I did not make notes about the make up I was wearing that day so I can’t tell you what I have on my lips. Thank you for taking the time to comment though.
60+ dry skin here. Just discovered your channel - it's great. My love atm is a silly priced but magic foundation Geurlain Parure radiant. I've never before bought a foundation at such a price (£65+). Have you tried it? I'd love a less expensive alternative!!
I haven't tried that one, but is sounds beautiful. Yes, I am always sort of afraid to try the expensive ones - afraid I will fall in love and never be able to find a cheaper alternative!! Ha-Ha But I feel OK about paying up for foundation if it works for you - since it is so hard to find the perfect formula for our mature skin. Thanks Iris for stopping by my channel ! I am glad you found me!
Very sadly, the Neutrogena and that particular Revlon foundation are not available in the UK. I'm crossing my fingers that the Revlon will make its way over here 🤞🤞 I would add the Chanel No.1, Chantecaille Future Skin and the Beauty Blender Bounce Skin Tint foundations to the list. They are so lovely on my dry, 62 year old skin. Personally I much prefer a skin like, natural, soft matte foundation - there's enough hydration and very little shine (I feel the shine, emphasises my "crinkles") and they don't, usually, require the need to powder. It may be the lighting but, it looks like you match your foundation to your face rather than your neck. As I say, it's probably due to the lighting and in real life your face and neck actually blend in nicely together 😊. Oh yes, the Estee Lauder Futurist foundation, really didn't work for me. The texture reminded me of the It Cosmetics CC Cream, in the thickness and the shine. Every crinkle was "highlighted" and my face looked mask like.
Thanks Chrissy, I just order the Beauty Blender skin tint last week - I’ve heard it’s good for left skin. Fingers crossed here , thanks for stopping by my channel.
I’m wondering what’s going on, I think the formulas are getting better, but nothing in Lauder looks good on me, I must agree. Their last one was awful.
The Estée Lauder Foundation you mentioned I have been using for the last 3 years! Great foundation for camera and video but….. I recorded part of a video outside and after review, I was mortified! Not great for outdoor
I’m 53, after trying several brands and not liking full or medium coverage foundations, i like my skin to look hydrated and glowy i use Chanel les beige water-fresh tint and Estée Lauder double wear sheer long-wear broad spectrum spf 19 and Chatecaille just skin moisturizer spf 15 and La Mer the radiant skin tint spf 30 looks beautiful and natural skin. Great review
Hi Renee, thank you so much for leaving your favorites in the comments. I really do think it helps all of us to share a recommendations because it is so difficult to find foundations that work well as we get older, I appreciate the information.
Oh my goodness I don’t know off the top of my head. I would go with one that is a matte finish because of the camera flash back if it was for a wedding or anniversary where I knew that I would be in photographs.
Yes, I really like the BK beauty 101, it gives me the same look as the sephora brush. I have a few other BK brushes, not as crazy about them. I prefer something soft around my eyes...
Hello dear new Subbie Let’s stay connected You look amazing ❤ Really enjoyed your video I really love hydrating foundations Revlon is awesome.. I heard Tom ford was really nice 😊 Have a Great week😊
Yes, I do use primer a lot of the time. I like to test foundations just on their own first to see if maybe I can skip the primer and still be happy with them.
@@MaggieDe okay great thank u so much you weren't rambling I just had a bad headache when I was watching so it was hard for me to concentrate. Thank u so much! U r beautiful 😍
Hi Theresa, I consider my undertone to be neutral leaning cool, for many years I wore cool undertone only, but I think it’s better with neutral. I guess my hair is light now / so much gray, but what brown is left is kinda medium. Gray hair really changes the coloring of my whole “thing”…. Face, neck, etc
I’m 65. Large pores & wrinkles. Dry skin with flaky patches between my eyebrows and in the creases of my nose. I’ve read I should use a powdered foundation. I tried one but oh dear it was horrible. Before I apply foundation I moisturize and use a primer. My pores show up even using the primer. HELP!!!
Hi Paula, I know how it feels. I wear all kinds of sunscreen/ primer / foundation combos because of my RU-vid channel and still don’t have absolute perfect one. And we are each so individual. The 40 something makeup artists are always recommending product for older skin but they really don’t understand our age group yet. I just try to do the best I can, then make a conscious decision not to let it ruin my day and go out and live my life. Not sure if this helps, but keep trying and Keep your receipts- take it back if it doesn’t work for your skin!!
So surprised to see the Tom Ford, it is both the most expensive foundation and best foundation I've ever used. Even the odd color i wear 4.0 fawn with an olive undertone, i have not other foundation with this undertone even though I've tired others since this looks so good , nope . For me this looks better as the day goes on. My family buys me Sephora gift cards because everyone compliments my makeup when I wear this.
Hi Karen, good to know. I noticed there is a new tom ford traceless stick concealer out this month .... so tempting to try it, I generally struggle with ALL concealers so I haven't decided if I should spluge on it or not. I guess I can take it back if it doesn't work. The foundation really is nice!!
I would probably use a griping primer if I want to be sure to make it last as long as possible. It is not a "long wear" formula but I typically get 5-7 hours during a typical day. Thanks for stopping by my channel!
I am hooked on the Narrs light, reflecting setting. Sephora has a mini for 20 bucks.. it’s the one that looks white in the compact but goes on invisible for me.
Maggie . I am not being rude 😊 you have beautiful eyes & good skin , & not middle age 😊 but your hair is ageing & horrible natural colour i presume 😊 I really do think a hair colour & style you would look 20yrs younger 😊
