Hey, thanks. Your relaxed attitude makes it all seem a bit less dire. Definitely going to up my injector game soon. Might be a good combination with the valve cover gasket. Hope the new year treats you well
This is a fantastic video! I will definitely be using this guide when I install my index 12s. Hopefully solve my intermittent long crank and cold start misfires.
@50skid I don't know if you want us to request/suggest videos. I know you have done oil and filter. Could you do all other serviceable fluids, filters and stuff? Like diff, breakfluid, power steering. Bmw n54. Love your videos
yeah fuel system should be bled through ISTA. this is exactly the reason why so many n57 diesel bosch cp4.2 pumps are failing. people priming the system by cranking causing dry running.
@@ademc8872 Yup, this was also the major reason why so many HPFPs failed on older E90s - until BMW released a software update which lets the fuel pump run when unlocking the car to build up fuel pressure in front of the HPFP to prevent dry running.
Been following you for years with the E46 330i. I also have the E90 330i. Even the 12th revision are still crap and are constantly failing as you will find out
As others have said, awesome work on the fat loss! If your car hasn't had the recalls done, can you do a DIY on those, please? Blower motor plug and battery positive cable in the fuse box under the dash.
Also you don't need to pull the fuse for the fuel pump off just simply disconnect the battery and open up the gas tank filler cap, that will depressurize the fuel in the system
One more thing,no need to mess with the ground cable and twist it around, just simply remove the ignition coil and you'll have all the space you'll need to work comfortably one last final thing that's kinda important and critical....you HAVE TO CAP OFF THE OPEN PORTS ON THE FUEL RAIL while servicing the fuel system, you dont want ANY! debris to fall or lay in those open fuel rail ports
How come there are so many relatively new cars on the junkyard in america? In germany totaled 335i‘s are getting sold for 6000 € upwards, it’s upsetting…
Crazy. I dunno, I guess they become too expensive for the insurance companies to fix and people want to take the money and buy something new instead. The car then gets a salvaged title and nobody wants to own it at that point.
Hi. I have an E93 with N53B30A engine (so non-turbo). Did you change (upgrade) your injectors from index 11 to index 12? Or did it come with index 12 as standard? Reason I ask is that I've read that there is doubt about whether index 12 injectors should be used with the N53 engine. I kind of feel that they should work since the energy and flow rate values are entered into INPA so it knows the individual injector performance. Cheers from UK.
My early March 2007 build 335i has original index 1 injectors. I’m at 191,000 miles now! Original turbos too. How much did you pay for the junk yard set?
@@50sKid USD 60 for 6 index 12's. OMG. I wish we had scrap yards like that in the UK! Retail price from a BMW dealer in UK is about £250 *each* for index 11 - and that's if you can get them!
I think how loud injectors are depends on mileage... I have 12s in my 335xi and 9s in my Z4, and Z4 is definitely louder. Got 44k miles on the Z4 and 165k on the 335xi.
Excellent video, thanks for posting. Quick question: do you need to grease the body of the new injector before installing in the head? Ceramic grease is supposed to be good as it prevents the SS injector body from reacting with the aluminium head. Your injectors were easy to free - I bet mine won't be!
Excellent work, thanks for sharing this. I still have a slight rough idle for a few minutes on cold start on my E90 N43. I was considering changing out injectors, but may run some injector cleaner in the tank first. I replaced spark plugs a year ago (120k miles) and just replaced all 4 ignition coils (as one failed causing heavy misfire) this week at 130k miles. Would you recommend an injector cleaner - LiquiMoly or BG44k? Thanks again.
Could they be loud because they're clean? When I've cleaned and resealed old, mechanical injectors, they're always loud until they've been run for a while.
Sup bro glad to see your still putting out good informative videos. I have a question for you. I've got a 2004 325i 222k miles the trans is jerking. Would you say just junk it or is it worth replacing the transmission, lmk thanks.
I've replaced a couple of transmissions on these, it's a piece of cake.. you can find these transmissions for less than $300us now, or even half that on pick-n-pull sale days.
50sKid I did the same a few years back. Less mass equals better performance up hills for sure! I noticed a huge difference on the bike. Also, a quality pair of biking shorts helps too 😖
Great video! Long time watcher from the early e46 days. Question to anyone reading this, is it possible/safe to ultrasonic wash the tips by just submerging them in? I don’t want to disassemble them at all. Has anyone tried this with success by chance?
Hello, I too have a bad #6 injector...Why it has to be the one that is most difficult to get to I have no idea...I too also have all index 10 injectors. Are you planning to sell the 5 that were still working? If you are, please let me know. I am on a serious budget, as I just need to get this car running so I can sell it. Of course I will recommend that the new owner replaces all with index 12, but I really don't want to spend over $1800 for a full set, when I won't get that total value back out of it in the sale.
If people are using INPA and especially 1st time it will do a number on your battery so be fast and efficient. I was wondering if you can use inpa for module coding?
Hey I’ve been watching your videos and like another subscriber asked for fluid change videos. I have been wondering if you used Top Tec 1800 ATF in a ZF transmission. I have 2003 330 / to 2006 330 and 2016 X3 xdrive . Two with 5 speeds and one with 8 speed. And if you can mix it with the ole ZF lifeguard fluid
How can you tell which injectors are which ? I have a spare engine that came with everything on it and ready to swap out. Just do I can start ordering these tools so my new engine will start.
I just ordered six used ones that were remanufactured from China but the picture he sent me , the coding numbers on each of them are all the same !! is that OK?
Hi. I'm looking for parts. For my e46 bmw. At transmission. I'm in South Africa, Durban and there are no kits available. Please can you assist me with this. It's a 2005 325I with the 5 hp 19 box.
