Are you struggling with getting saturated blacks, or any color, dye on your discs? Then hot dipping is your answer, and it’s super easy and fast!
Hot dipping is just that, putting your disc in a hot water and dye mixture. The heat helps speed up the dyeing process and also helps the dye absorb info the disc better to get those saturated colors.

Thanks for the kind words! I try to make as many of them as I can. But you can google what you looking for and change the type to "line drawing" or add the words coloring book to the search.

What’s the difference between vinyl and clear contact paper? Loved this video. Thanks for making. Gonna try my first dip soon but my stencil is on paper. So watching video to see how I cut out the paper stencil. I don’t have a cricket

From my understanding, contact paper is typically less sticky and less durable than vinyl.

Dave I got the blueprints to your disc dye jig when it was free, I had my buddy print me one and, well I have a pit bull and if you know them their tails are table sweepers, I lost one of the pegs and my buddy lost the file…. Any chance I can get a hook up? I know.

Do you have dimensions for the stencils? Do you use oracal 651? Or what do you prefer?

I use a 12x12 inch sheet and it's a case by case for the disc depending on it's diameter. Usually 8.2in is a good starting point.

I have a vinyl cutter. I specifically use the Cricut Maker. But almost any cutter work work for this.

Would I be able to use this method to dye a discmania c-line disc? And is there any way I could do that without it removing a shiny stamp?

Check out this chart to find out. ddbd.me/dyechart And you can hot dip without removing the stamp. But, if you need to mask of the stamp, whatever you use to mask it might pull the stamp up.

Dave i had the same situation as they guy who said he followed the directions....would it have been the fact i used a Champion plastic disc?...i used pro chem in the correct ratios ...is the pulling it out at 7mins a must ? Also the temperature drops pretty quickly after it hits 120...

Champion plastic needs longer to take the dye typically that say Star plastic. Play it by ear and see how long it'll need to take you. You can keep pulling and checking for saturation.

I do both acetone and soap, always better to be too careful

Dave I have followed your process but I’m not getting it to stick it just washes off nothing takes. I get it up to almost boiling and then add dye like you did but once it goes to 120 degree and leave for 15-30 min nothing happens. I feel like I’m missing something. Even added another packet of dye and heated again. Any help would be appreciated

What's the plastic type of the disc you're trying to dye? Check here to see if it will accept dye or not. ddbd.me/dyechart

Make sure toi are using the correct dye, regular dye for fabric won't stick to the disc it needs to be synthetic dye for polyester if you are using Rit make sure it has the silver label that says synthetic, Ipoly Dye should be JID1454, or Pro chem and dyes.

I have had air bubbles in my last two dips. Did not know it was a thing. Argh. I am still trying to figure out getting rid of adhesive before single dips or in between double dips.

If you have air bubbles, do multiple shorter dips, like keep checking every 5 mins or less. Try using GooGone for removing adhesive.
