Bro, can you do a video explaining about all the options and services in Developer options, how to use it, basic idea and make a good use of the available options etc.
Actually all features in developer options it not mean to be used by rhe average consumer, if you don't know or dont understand of those setting that means its not for you to use, its for developer to test & debug for certain app/features/setting
MOST USEFUL TIPS (in order): -Dark mode if you have an OLED display. -Turn down the brightness. -Turn off mobile data, wifi, location, and other networked features when not in use. -Use battery saver. Unless you need to load something slow or get all notifications it's the same. -Use automated features mentioned in the vid to do those automatically if you like I never disable airplane mode because I don't use a carrier. I find manual brightness is better indoors because since Android 9+ it's really unreliable and cranks it up. you do you!
Cool jimmy , I got the Z Fold 2 and my battery was horrible untill I watched your video. Dude you really helped me out . I definitely a new subscribr keep that coming. If you have any more tips keep them coming
If Adaptive Power Saving is enabled, and the phone drops from Optimized to Medium Power Savings, won't that block some background data use and hence notifications. People should be aware that it is not just throttling down the phone and limiting brightness. It's also preventing some background communications which might be notifications you might want to see. Do I have this right?
You can tell once you unlock your phone you will be harassed by multiple notifications. If so turn it off there's no win win option so hate to say get a bigger battery phone. I have S20 Snappy trying to find a suitable solution myself but switching to 60Hz even on WQHD I am able to get over a hour more screen on time and more hours on standby I think even though I am not using it it maybe a placebo effect I need to test it but I do feel its longer compared to running 120Hz. Try it
@@elit3physique I drop to 60hz (sometimes 120), use adaptive brightness, dark mode, have wifi turn on and off in familar places, no AOD (use tap to show) and the biggie is 4G on my 5G model. I know its a crime, but 5G signal is not strong and it saves battery. GPS and Bluetooth on all day. I average 3-3.5 screen on time and usually finish day with 30% left.
@@rmpain ok, what about apps ? I put the ones I don't use in deep sleep it does help aswell I reckon you can squeeze more on display time . What phone do you have
@@elit3physique Yes, I definately do deep sleep many apps but others are very active like NYT and WSJ, social apps etc. I have the Snapdragon S20FE 5G. I think the big gain is stepping down from 5G. I'm not downloading big stuff over cellular and my 4G speeds are good. When the phone struggles to hold a 5G signal, that is taxing on the battery. I just ran speedtest - 4G: 38mbps download, 5G: 3.75 mbps in my area, in my house. No comparison.
Very helpful tips. To me, turning on Don't keep activities in developer option makes a huge change. I can easily get more than 10 hrs SoT on my Z fold 2. The combination is: - Dark mode - Medium saving mode - Don't keep activities turned on - Network 3g/2g (i'll try LTE later to see if it makes any difference) - Screen brightness 27% (plenty for me) - Audio volume 77% with Dolby Atmos
I get 10 hours of sot on my s21 ultra. 60hz, 720p, use lte instead of 5g and use power saving mode =) it's still a beauty even if it is toned down but if you just want more battery, this is great.
That's interesting. I've been using the Galaxy Fold for the past couple of weeks and am averaging 12+ hrs screen-on time (I know, ridiculous) per full charge and One UI always shows up as the top drainer in my stats (up to 15% everyday). I noticed it doesn't show up near the top for you at all, so I'm guessing I could improve battery life even further.
As for the adaptive brightness option , I guess that turning it off is better no? I mean having it means that the sensor always has to keep monitoring when to increase/decrease the brightness, so that would consume more battery than simply manually changing the brightness.
It depends. If you are always on top of it and managing your brightness as you go, and keeping it low, you would be saving battery. If you go outside, turn it way up, and then don't turn it down when you go inside, you're wasting battery. I find that the phone learns my brightness preferences pretty quick, and it's so convenient, I'm willing to lose a little extra battery to have it manage it for me.
@@kennyb123 I thought my phone was a ghost when the brightness was automatically reducing and increasing the brightness😂😱🥺. So, I turned adaptive brightness off😂
@Ken exactly, that's what am saying . Having it on is more convenient but at the expense of some battery life . Ergo it's not an option that would actually save battery life but rather consume it . That is what I was making clear .
I’m lucky to get 2.5 hours of screen on time with my Exynos s10

Absolutely great video. A lot of settings you featured I had in use but after your video I gladly added a few others. Great Informational video and you got straight to your points with no (Lag Time)...pun intended...:)
@@DoctorVivin Yes it works. You can also install the 96hz app from XDA forums to get a bit more battery life with no noticeable decrease in screen smoothness. I now leave my phone in optimized mode with 96hz and easily get 6-8 hours screen on time depending on what apps/games I use that day.
In my S10 I get on average 6 hours on screen time until the battery dies. Is this normal or all the s10 get this time to? Btw, I have done all of these tricks like 3 months and still cant improve sreen time...
Yes sir, that's normal, S10 only has 3400 mah batt so that's pretty much understandable, it's actually pretty good that you could get 6 hrs SOT with it.
Is there a way to ignore battery drain warnings from device care? My family uses life360 and to work. It has to run in the background. I'm ok with that and I'm tired of being told its draining my battery. Please help!
it depends how you look at it if its set on it adjusts to the to the brightness which sounds good but it will be throttling through different brightness throughout the day which can use more then usual, however if its off you can manually adjust it to lets say dark and save more battery because the phone wont ever adjust and it won't be accidently set on high when not needed. As everyone has their own expectations on what is considered "viewable"
What about wifi calling being on the whole time wen I'm in house and connected to wifi.? How much does that eat my battery ? I have note 20 ultra exynos.
Good video, some settings I'm currently using, and a couple I hadn't tried. Will do from now. Would be nice if NFC auto toggled when you enter a shop/cafe etc where you normally use it. Also, why do you long hold the quick setting instead of touching the writing below it for faster entrance to their settings? Thanks again.
How do you set a video wallpaper on a samsung? it only goes on the lockscreen. Pretty bummed that out of all the phone brands, samsung lacks this feature
You sure about that adaptive power saving/battery thing? many people say its quite bad and it uses more charge for few days to lean how you use your phone and then gets better... but they found irl that it just uses more charge on average
Jimmy I'm kind of addicted to these Samsung optimization videos! I have a older Note 8 with Android 9. At 4:51 in the video you have a "Wi-Fi scan throttling" option which I don't have under "Developer options". Do you know if this is available for the Note 8? Also it would be cool if you could list the specs (vendor/model/OS/processor/memory) for the device being tested on an index card to the left of device or in the video notes. Thanks for all this great content!
Jimmy have you ever tried to set the brightness to maximum with adaptive brightness set to Off. Then use the note20ultra outside under the hot sun. Open the camera app and other apps. About 20‐30minutes as the apps are opened the phone start to get hot. And...u notice the screen is not as bright as earlier and gets harder to see whats on the screen under the sun because somehow the software is adjusting the brightness to lower level? Is this how samsung software works?
samsung has reached out and admit that such feature exists in note 20 to prevent overheating which is annoying imho. While doing some phototaking and looking at google maps midway, the phone has to reduce its brightness making it harder to see whats on screen and i had to stop whatever im doing. The phone has to cool down to have its brightness back to normal. Such an expensive phone but it gives me a hard time to use. Samsung has to admit that their exynoss chip cant handle high spec phone like note 20. It generates heat and drains battery faster than the snapdragon version.
no charge it at 40 and no less because if you go to 0 you only get 300 charges if you do it at 40 you get 700 charges that what thay told me at sumsung when i call about the bat probem
I'm using the Galaxy Note 10 Plus since launch but as soon as it's full charge the battery automatically drops to 97-96% in 4-5 minutes even if the phone is just sitting idle & there's nothing running in the background!
@@user_error1016 most of the time it's on optimized & on wifi whenever I'm home... But that shouldn't an $1100 phone should do. You shouldn't have to put on airplane mode just to save a few battery %... We have the exynos version here in India... Maybe that's the problem
also another one I've found is Quick settings developer Tiles under developer options.. . Turning on Sensors off and then from the notification panel the new toggle will appear.. This turns off all sensors and can also make a dramatic effect with batter..
I feel so envious after hearing he got 30 mins screen on time with 3% battery decline, while I get 30 mins of SOT with over 15%-20% battery decline on my S10 !!
Sup Jimmy dont forget the s20 hack to have 96hz full time. I just set it up on my note 20 ultra. It still works for us. Hope this helps u with another video
Hi All, I used to use power saving +120 hz in one ui 3 but I guess with Android 12 one ui 4 Samsung patched it up. Its not working anymore. Any workaround to this ? I am using s20 plus exynos.
premature? Is there an app or setting to change the notifications pop up? I don't like how big and thick it is specially when gaming it takes the entire top screen. Is there a way to have all my notifications be a pop-up bubble at least?
I saw a video that Adaptive Power saving mode actually uses more battery because it's always monitoring in the background. Not sure how true it is but I've turned it off and set Bixby Routines to turn on Medium Power Saving mode below 25% battery
False: Adaptive Brightness don't save battery life at all it actually uses more as it uses a sensor to check light levels at all times. You're best to instead change the brightness manually.
Turn off auto sync. Use Bixby Routines to only switch on location for certain apps like Uber, Maps etc. Always on should be on tap to show. Keep notification vibration off Put useless apps to deep sleep
Thanks I will try some of these on my note 20 ultra 5g t mobile USA my phone discharges very fast when not using it. I have also been on the 4lte network cause t mobile is updating the towers in Seattle.
