That is a better high and tight than I have seen most stylists do. Screw these fools who have no clue. A high and tight is just that, high and tight. The cut that most of these noobs have been told is a high and tight is actually a "flip up". High and tight has a very short fade zone as you demonstrated, not a two inch gradual fade. Too many instructors got lazy and misrepresented this cut, and it was then passed from the stylist to the customers. This is why I can now go to 10 different places, and get ten different haircuts.

thank god i found your tutorial i started cutting my sons hair and i had the very short sides but messed the top up and didnt know how to fix it this cut is exactly what i need to make the best of my mistake and make it look good. thank you

Agree with this. I normally have a grade 2 on top and 1/2 shaved on the sides and back. My barber actually does the top first, then works his way down the relevant comb attachments so you end up with a consistent line of blend.

You do know the back is horribly uneven. Comments about dropping and using the same comb are correct. That in itself would cause you to fail the state barber exam.

when you are in basic, you are balded with zero guard, only when you graduate are you allowed the privilege of having hair, just on the top though, so that way when you are wearing your beret it covers the top and only shows the side (which is short) basically meaning no individuality.

It's harder because the shorter the hair is the lighter it seems and the longer the hair is the darker it is, so to blend them it has to be very perfect to blend well. For instance if you have a blend where the dark hair is even a little bit longer you will see it because it appears darker. I hope I explained that good enough! THANKS for asking. Military barbershops (the barbers are contract civilian barbers) rarely break out the shears. It's all clipper action. And a good barber can have you out of the chair in 5 to 7 minutes tops, sometimes 10. For a "regulation" probably 5 or 6 minutes.

Actually, for Army boot camp, that is what they do. And i believe it is the seals and Rangers, (don't quote me on this) that require a guard of 1 through a 0. But, i don't remember -.-

Please take my comment in the context it was given. The person I replied to made a ridiculous comment. Yes, your head is shaved for a short period of time, but after that, the standards are that you do not have to keep your head shaved. In fact, you can google the hundreds of pics with SFs (Seals, DF etc) with a full head of hair and a beard.
