Aurora Borealis is solid stuff, especially on their first three albums. They've had Derek Roddy, Tim Yeung, and Tony Laureano drumming for them at different points in time, so basically most of the Nile and Hate Eternal drummers. The main songwriter and vocalist Ron Vento also used to be in one of the earliest US black metal bands Lestregus Nosferatus with Skully from Hallows Eve too. Most of the Aurora Borealis stuff has been self-released, which is probably why only a couple albums have shown up in Hell's store.

Not sure if Disturbed made the word more popular, but Sick was being used by skateboarders way before Disturbed existed. A lot of the skaters back in the day were punks and metalheads. It goes further back than my day as a kid in the 80s.

To be honest, I was born in 92 and have been saying sick since middle school. Haha I was always the metal head though, maybe I got it from a band. I was the one drawing band logos on my tests all day or sleeping. First cds I had were murder squads first album (autopsy worship) and impaleds choice cuts comp. Nothing new there, the Metal dress code has always been a point of emphasis for "Jew Dawg". However he's definitely right about the band photo part, it's a stamp in history, make an effort not to look like a dork or a schlub.

I’ll admit I’m a bit soft on disturbed bc them and Metallica were the first “metal” bands my dad had me listen to when I was a toddler. Do I listen to them now, no (besides kill ‘em all and the Metallica demos)

Same here. I got into metal by way of three bands. Disturbed, Static X, and System of a Down. I actually still like Disturbed to this day, even though I love death metal way more now. But I will always have a soft spot for them because they were the very first heavy and for me.
