You need to beat Shiva, Fionn and Khonsu Ra to be precise. I would also recommend getting other endings since they have route-exclusive content.

Frankly the true ending to this game just sucks. Why the hell do you need to do these long side quests where you serve and aid demons only to eradicate them all. (Not to mention the bs Lucifer spouts before dying).

Megaten games don't really have good or bad endings, they have different endings based on alinement. Playing the way you want usually winds up with your ending matching the alinement that gives you an ending you would consider the best outcome.

@@kylephoenix9396 honestly, I purposly chooce this ending, and I regret nothing. Still my favorite ending, and the best you could do in my opinion.

@@CallieBlader oh come on the gameplay is pretty good. You have to be genuinely bitter to say its not If this game has a fatal flaw its the fact it has no story. And as a minor flaw all the female demons look more or less the sam

​@@CallieBlader The changes to kaja/kunda skills is genuinely one of the best things they could have done, because literally one of my biggest gripes with Nocturne is how broken and poorly designed the buff mechanics were. Even DDS, which immediately followed that game, nerfed them considerably since they must have realized it was badly designed. That being said, they don't actually work like Persona anyway. You can still stack buffs and debuffs in SMTV, unlike Persona, they just lowered the cap to a more reasonable level. And since the game still has a press turn system agility buff/debuff stacking is still incredibly powerful, just less broken than when you could stack it 4 times and faceroll through anything that couldn't nullify it.

It doesn't have a bad story it jsut doesn't have any story Which is why i got bored with it 20 hours in and went to play digital devil saga

@@DimT670 Have you play other SMT games? DDS has a good story but it lacks elements like demon recruitment, fusions, and challenge, so it's not an SMT game in my modest opinion. Just another megaten spin off. Good one, maybe. But not as good as most people say. SMT without demon negotiation is like Switch without exclusives. SMT V has a story, as minimalistic as III one, but it's there from the very beginning. How couldn't have it? And it gets actually interesting after the third area and the Demon King Castle. I mean, bro. You're exaggerating. Mario Kart has no story, Etrian Odyssey has no story. Even you can claim Splatoon has no story. It has more story than games like Dark Souls.

Even though it has its faults, particularly near the end, I still enjoyed the story in SMTV more than any other SMT game, except maybe Strange Journey, although that has its issues too. I was never a big fan of Nocturne's story. 4 was fine, but I don't have strong feelings about it one way or the other. And 1 and 2 have good elements, but are kind of a product of their time and don't hold up super well outside of an interesting framework for world building. Although in all honesty that's mostly true for the whole series. World building and atmosphere is always a higher priority than straightforward story telling. Which isn't entirely a bad thing. I think I'd be happier to see SMT take a few notes from the Souls series style of storytelling than typical JRPG cutscenes. (As much as still adore that kind of JRPG, it's good to have a series that does something different.) I do hope SMTV gets its own "Nocturne Maniax" eventually though, because with a few tweaks and additions it would stand well above its predecessors, no caveat. I think people forget, or don't realize, how much less content was in the original Japanese release of Nocturne. Most of the actually interesting parts of that game, and the only ending anyone seems to care about, weren't even in the original game.

@Myamsa MRS it's kinda bad that the the enemies Hp are doubled but aside from that the gameplay is good

Aramasa is insanely efficient, if you build around it your basically guaranteed a crit whenever you use it giving you a free press turn. Not only that it doesn't have the lower accuracy of other guaranteed crit attacks pair it with restore and your regenerating mp due to its low cost. Don't get me wrong wrath tempest is better in pure damage output, but aramasa being single target means it's super useful in mob fights in the end game where grimhelkas and rangdas are common mobs alongside enemies you do want to use phys skills against. Also it looks cool 😎. Tldr not the best for damage but great utility in endgame.

She has zero interest in the dlc, and honest play a butchered version of nocturne just to fight demifiend is lame

@@WolfGamers100 i mean SMT 5 has it's story telling has it's lore, it's connected to nocturne but SMT 5 and SMT3 has lots of differences and also Demifiend is a DLC tecnically he isn't even in the game lorewise

@@matteodidonatantonio I mean the dlc basically makes u fight the fights the fiends in the same order as nocturne to than fight demifiend, its a bit expensive and honest sounds to me that they decided to take out this fight and put it on dlc because fans would buy it.

If she plays Trails, she probably would start with Trails in the Sky. Same though, that series is my favourite and I would like to see her play it.

I always played this game at night (7-10pm) while listening to a podcast and had a great experience with the game because of it. Fills the void that is known as story

Yeah, the story of V is a bit below average for SMT. I’d say that IV did it better.

The ones necessary for the True Neutral ending are not. The ones involving Cleopatra, Mephisto, Artemis and the fiends including the Demi-fiend are however.

iv and iv a is still better imo as an smt main line

@@ofilosofoouumfumante5655 honestly yes. mostly cause there's a slight bias in terms of how the handles its two endings cause it's incredibly different while also being awesome in its own way that and gameplay wise iv a is better

She plays on the hardest difficulty + does minimal grinding since she streams and folks will leave if you progress too slowly. So she ends up going into a lot of battles unprepared as a natural consequence.

I loved this game and am playing Nocturne for the first time and really enjoying that too. Just curious why did you hate this game and like Nocturne?

That's totally fair. If you don't like the turn based combat that requires you to adapt as you play than it's just not for you and that's okay.

@@phillemon7664 But I do like turn based combat and there are tons of turn based RPGs, that don't get repetitive that easily

Im playing Nocturne on hard after playing V (also on hard) and in comparison Nocturne is a walk in the park

@@nigele8625 yeah most smt games are easy if you know what you are doing like in smt 3, dark might strats make the game a cakewalk

Yeah, this game is easiest mainline SMT.

For better or worse, one of the hallmarks of the SMT games has been they start off kind of challenging but let you become absolutely busted OP if you know what you're doing. I think it's one of the things that left a sour impression of Nocturne on my first playthrough, because I went into it after hearing all the hype about it being so hard and was pretty let down. I know what to expect now, so I guess it doesn't bother me as much. That being said, man I had so much more fun actually playing SMTV than any of the games before it. The systems just feel way better implemented and satisfying, even if they still haven't solved that balance problem.

@@nr2676 actually delusional take. I, II, IV exist. Nocturne is also really easy beyond busted Matador early on. SJ and IVA are the only games that at least bother having strong final bosses.
