The tow bar on the Rangie gets an upgrade and the rear end gets a bit of a 'butt lift'. Follow behind the scenes action on my Instagram: / sams.motor.. . #RangeRover #Towing #Upgrades
Love a tow hitch for avoiding bumper damage when bad people get too close to your rear bumper! Also it can save your bacon in multi storey car parks whoops!
Thanks Sam. Looking forward to the ODB 2 scanner episode. I've been looking into those myself and IMO are an essential bit of kit if you own an old Rangey. Keep up the good work. PEACE\/
The Autel AP200 is a brilliant bit of kit for the money to use with a smartphone. It doesn’t do much in the way of programming, but it did cure my stop/start on my Discovery Sport, which the iCarsoft scanner failed to do and it gives proper codes with the 2 digit suffix, which again the iCarsoft fails to do. If you want programming then a more expensive Autel 908 is probably the way to go, but the iiD tool may be worth a look as well or the Lynx. I’ve been really impressed with the Autel and It’s saved me £££’s. Keeping my eye on my oil dilution with it!
Good timing, just bought my first L322 4.4tdv8 and the same strip on mine is knackered. Gloss black ordered from powerfuluk a couple of days ago. Looking forward to fitting it.
I’ve got the detachable on the TD6, works fine. Although it might be seized in now, as I haven’t taken it out for a while. TDV8 hasn’t got a tow bar at the moment, I’ll just use the TD6 for towing.
For sport model I hear its best to remove it if not in use. I think it says like that in manual. There are tiny vibrations between hitch and chassis which can cause problems. Check if that is the case for normal RR model
Exciting times...? C'mon, spill the beans!?! You can improve the look of your Rangie 1000% ...... the number plate screws are rusty and exposed...... NO......! Get some new plastic cover thingy's..... it's all in the detail, I promise you!. Great vid, ty
another good update Sam - well done. A plea - new screws and caps on the number plate screws would really help my OCD and make the car's rear end look pukka
Nice one Sam. Will have to get a new silvwr strip for mine at some point. Great you had the westfalia tow kit, mine didn't have that so had a TowTrust detachable fitted a couple of weeks back. Also waiting on new compressor for my AC, due in end of the month!! Cant wait to have AC. Cooled seats have helped though 👍. Also had ARBs replaced front and back, front upper and lower control arms and drop links. This week had rear arch liners out cleaned all dirt. Aquasteel rust prevention applied to areas needed then Lanoguard applied. 👍 Awaiting delivery of new arch liner fixings and weatherstrip before reassembly. Got a weatherstrip for front part of the rear arch as well, as not fitted from factory. Might have to do a video on all this. Lol. Look forward to the next one.
Hi just to say really enjoy the channel it has given me confidence with RRS HSE 2013 keep up the great contend I love my RRS first one I’ve had .The only vehicle and don’t laugh I’ve ever really bonded with since my ST220 and I’ve had a few vehicles in between before my RRS .My partner says I think more of the RRS than her !!!!!! I mean as if lol
Hey Sam, I think our TDV8s were separated at birth. Our alternators went around the same time and we both have no a.c., but I do have now. The O ring was split right at the top easiest connector to get at just behind the grill. Gassed it and nothing. The guy told me the valve that goes in and out of the compressor has three O rings, that and the solenoid get jammed up. So over a few days I flicked the AC button on and off on the climate control and hey presto, AC like a Rangie should be, you could hang meat in it. I hope it works for you since I've heard changing the compressor is a heart breaker. Cheers from Ireland..
Hey Rory, thanks for the comment! Yes sounds like they're in cahoots for sure. Glad yours was an easy fix on the A/C - not looking forward to changing the compressor but I think it might be easier than the alternator was. How do you find running the Rangie in Ireland? What is the tax situation like for them over there?!
@@SamsMotors I’m in the north Sam so everything is pretty much the same, bar getting some flower seeds, some chilled meats and other crazy things with this protocol nonsense lol Once again great channel, many thanks
Hi Sam's Motor & Machine I am Japanese I'm sorry if the words are wrong I'm always looking forward to watching the video I want to see L322 cooling system draining, filling and bleeding Please make a video Thank you
@@SamsMotors Thank you Sam My name is Hige Here in Japan, the cost of maintaining a Range Rover is high, so I want to do what I can. Watching your video, I will try to change the coolant. You are my hero Cheers, Hige
Thankyou guys. Everything is good - I've had a busy couple of months but am planning on getting some more content out in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for checking in though! 😁
Around £600. However as my current CVD rear dampers are nearly new, and there's nothing wrong with them, I should be able to recoup a good bit of that. 👍
That hitch from Land Rover was never bolted in. There was a pin with a clip that was used to secure it. The drop hitch was kept in a bag in the boot of the car with a rubber bung that goes into the receiver underneath the car. Is the one you bought genuine? Ours never needed that much effort to get it into the receiver.
Sam, can you describe the setup you use for getting the suds on your Rover? Is it all hooked up to a garden hose or are you using a pressure washer somehow?
Have you looked at how fast the air compressor fills the dampers? On my vogue i have an issue now wich causes the car to only drive in normal heigt after having done some sharp turns. When this occurs i feel as if the car is some what stiff. Im hoping to fix thix with the new Arnott compressor ive bougt. But ive read that one can buy kits in the UK with air drying material and o-rings also a new suppressor witch could salve some air suspension problems. Try to borrow a compressor and see what happens is my advice.
Germany has some crazy rules! I was watching a channel called "LR TIME" on here and he was explaining all of the TUV regulations he has to adhere to in order to fit all terrain tyres and wheel spacers. I guess that's the price for being able to do 200mph on the autobahn! Cheers.
My 2011 is nice and compliant over the bumps. What shocks did you fit? One of my rear ones is leaking and I need to order a new set. Thinking about the Arnott ones.
#SamsMotorMachine I’ve got an l322 and since changing the battery the deployable side steps aren’t deploying. Also getting “mecha error” from the in car DVD player. Wondering if you could share some wisdom
I know that you need to inform the ECU that a new battery has been installed - IID tool can do this but there are probably others. Whether or not that is what is causing your issues, I'm not sure. Reading and clearing the fault codes might do it anyway.
It's fairly beefy being an M16 bolt loaded in double shear. I looked it up and the book spec for an 8.8 M16 bolt in that loading is about 120kN (~12 tonnes), so that should do! The 'slot' on the hitch slides over a pin further back in the receiver too, so any "up/down" force is shared between that and the bolt.
Hi Sam. May be taking the plunge on one imminently... just wondering, now you've had a bit of time with her, what sort of mpg you get on a steady run? Also.... did you have to code the tow bar set-up to the car, or was your's already installed? (The one I'm looking at has no tow prep at all).
Hi bud, Running around town and commuting across the city I get around 24-27mpg, and on longer runs I've had up to 37mpg but usually around 33-35. Really good overall. Mine already had the towing pack but yes you'd have to code it in on yours with an IID tool or similar
@@SamsMotors Thanks for quick reply Sam, much appreciated and a big help! Also nudges it a bit further towards the "Probably Going To Happen" option! 🤪
With your next job on the air con, my 2011 does the same, sometimes works sometimes doesnt, but ive noticed the voltage it is using is extremely high and this is draining the battery when I have it turned on. not sure if that is linked to your problem.
Pretty much guaranteed to be the refrigerant control valve on the back of the compressor. You have to remove the compressor to get at it - so you may as well replace the whole thing at that point. I haven't got any battery drains but it definitely sounds like it could be linked on yours.
Similar issue with mine works on and off Mainly off when you need it though 🤦♂️, but no battery drain. Local AC guy says new compressor easiest fix, then its good for another 100k 👍 hope you get it sorted 👍
Only about 4000 miles on them so far but they've been great. Not had a chance to use them off road yet, but on road they're still really quiet and grippy in all weathers. No noticeable wear yet either.
Wwwwhhhhooooot....I'm just imagining such a car wash with foam on the open road in front of my house in Germany on my Ranger....😂 Within 5 minutes, the police, special task force, fire brigade, ultra green hippies and all concerned or rather curious neighbors would have surrounded me and taken me away and I would have a criminal complaint of several thousand euros on my neck because of the "environmental pollution" 😂😂😂😂
#Sam’sMotorMachine Would you be willing to help out a fellow L322 3.6 tdv8 owner out and helping me sort this issue out. I could come up to you at your convenience
Hi matey, unfortunately I'm not in the UK any more so probably wouldn't be feasible. What's the issue though? Perhaps I can suggest a fix or someone who can help.
I drive a L322 2009 325k km No toe hitch ..never liked tjem.bc here in the states makes you like a boat wanker .. land roving is what we do. Mine is Santorini blk .. Previous riding the Rocky Mountains..now riding the Sonoran desert 🏜
Interesting that you use 'km' despite being in the States. Mine's also Santorini black. I don't mind it but I think I'd rather have one of the green or blue paints that were available if I had the choice.
@@SamsMotors green ..yes the quintessential LR color Km.bc I live here now ..however raised in EU ..principally italy and Ireland..although I do have British heritage .. Americans really don't appreciate the pedigree of LR ..they prefer to drive Lexus.. Being that I'm also a cyclist..we know the roots of the safety rover ..
