1975 1976 1977 1978 Mercury Grand Marquis 2 Door Hardtop Power Windows Power Doorlocks Power Seat Tilt Steering Wheel Column Loaded Starting After Sitting While 400
Nice car! I love those cars from the malaise era! On april 29th 1976, I bought a brand new mercury cougar. Five weeks after I bought the car I got married, over 47 years later, I still have the car, and still have the wife! My cougar is in nice condition, has 86,000 miles on. has the 351 windsor v8. Has been a very good car. It is light aqua with a white vinyl landau roof. Has the factory mag wheels.
I have developed a new respect for these Mercs thanks to you and Adam, and this one is a beauty for sure. Great idea about priming the carb, no need to grind the heck out of the starter and kill the battery
I love the 71 and 72 and the 75 to 78. I can't stand the 73-74. Adam and I could never date. He also likes the 71 Pontiac, the ugliest year in my book.
This car is gorgeous. It reminds me of the Lincoln Continantal of that time. The styling is so similar. All in Black with the red interior. You got one hell of a car.
Thanks Tony. I have a silver 76 Grand Marquis pillared 4 door hardtop, 77 Chocolate Brown Grand Marquis same body style and a cream 78 Colony Park. I reckon they are terrific cars.
Oh my, I would love to have that car and a woman as gorgeous as that car to carry around in it. I would definitely keep the car. It's hard to believe it has that many miles on it, absolutely beautiful!
I put the walk around and discussion video of this car at the end of this video. In that video, I talked about how I took everything out of a 73 or 74 to make them functional. The rear 1/4 windows became fixed in mid-1975 and remained that way for the rest of this body style. It drove me nuts, so I changed them.
As a fellow owner of a 78 hardtop, love your videos! Can you do one on removing rear quarter windows? Installing weatherstripping but need those out to do it. Thanks! 👍
Thank you! I will be doing a video on how to repair the power windows in the rear of mine since I converted them from fixed to power. I can probably explain something about how they were originally bolted in.
Gorgeous Marquis. Question. The grille looks the same as on out 75 Colony Park. I see four power window switches? The rear we windows still lowered in 78?
The grill was the same 75-78. Yes, you are seeing the extra window switches, but no, the functioning 1/4 windows became "fixed" in mid-1975. It drove me nuts, so I removed everything out of a 73 or 74 to put in mine to make them functional. Here is a link to the video where I talk about doing it. 👇 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rGvzfJhYqUs.html
@@tonyscarcare5657 Hi Tony! I just watched that after this. Amazing skills you have and good work! No one would dream the options you added didn't come from the factory! Love your cars and channel.
No, I do not own any of the farm ground around me. I do have a great relationship with the farmer and help them move equipment and work on things when needed. My dad's side of the family always farmed too.
@@tonyscarcare5657 soybean fields make better neighbors than tract housing, I am surrounded by corn fields too, I live in Columbia Missouri on 4 acres, I really like your collection of cars, and the way you have your place set up with the buildings, living in the country, you are living a better lifestyle than someone in Beverly Hills,That drives an electric car and makes $10 million a year
Just love these huge coupes, I'm biased though because I have a 73 T-bird black over burgundy 429 4bbl. But these 77-78 Merc Grand Marquis are so elegant a car. This one here in Black looks like Darth Vader's personal car. Gorgeous Merc. Thank you
Love those old fords/mercurys and lincolns .we were mostly gm family but i had one brother out of four loved them big ford used to make my one brother so mad when hed buy another one thanks for waking up my memories of them , lost 2 of my brothers in last 4 years these bri g back so many memories. And just watched a video of you the other day about 4k subscribers do t be so hard on yourself keep the videos coming
Thank you so much. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your brothers. I will have this car 29 years on September 2nd and will do another video on it. Please stay tuned.
What a beautiful car, Tony! For a car that you say needs rear shocks, the rear end is riding nice and high like it should. I look forward to tomorrow's video regarding the replacement of the door lock actuator.
Whatever happened to all the cars like this? they were still a common sight to see in the early 2000's on the west coast. I used to see a lot of cars of this era in Dennys's parking lots especially was a hot spot to find them then they all just sort of disappeared.
Makes me sad to see them still being used in demo derbies. Those guys rarely even bother saving and selling the lenses, trim and interior parts. Just yank it all out with a crowbar and throw it away.
Thank you! I see people asking a lot, but I never see them bring big money. I wouldn't take less than $10k for mine, but that doesn't mean I could get it.
@gh2687 Someone said it may be 10 degrees cooler tomorrow. That will definitely feel different. Some rain came through this evening and really cooled things down.
@@tonyscarcare5657 I witnessed 1 battery tender kill 4 batteries within a year on my neighbors truck. I've never kept a tender on any of my vehicles either.
I have + - 60 vehicles. I have about 12 battery trickle chargers. They 1010% preserve the batterys! I have batterys approach 10 years old, just sitting on the lo amp chargers
@@CORVAIRWILD I had a battery approach 15 years old before it died, never once went dead and sat on standby hooked up the rest of the time. I've had several others last 8-9 years under normal use.
