Hands down the best explanation of volume spacers I've seen yet. Great job!

It seems like a lot of suspension setup videos have come out recently. I watch 2 today. One very good. One was useless. This was the very good one. Great job explaining it.

You wouldn't be biased in anyway now would you😁. But I agree, a nicely done video. Simple and to the point👍

Thanks, nice video. Helpful to hear the difference between adding volume spacers and adding air to the shock.

As a light weight rider (145lbs. riding weight) I remove all volume spacers and preload to 20%, used to use 30%, almost no high speed compression or just barely, slow speed compression is around half give or take a few clicks. I like my air springs to feel like coil springs, plush and linear, ground hugging, grippy and tracks, not poppy or jibby.

Thanks a lot for the video! I always thought messing with spacers was some super advanced stuff! Was astonished you could do it without even removing the shock from the bike! Might play with the setup as well now I know how to do it, as I'm a bit above the average rider weight-wise :-D

Great video! I have an older single pivot bike, it needs a more progressive shock to avoid bottoming as well. This video shows how easy it is to add progression using tokens these days. Nice to know.

Just got my Ripmo AF, had to order it back in Oct. without so much as a parking lot spin. Watching tons of videos from fine youtubers like you made it a bit easier to pull the trigger. Now I'll be putting on frame protection, installing my Ergon saddle and grips, OneUp Switch oval chain ring and Bashguide, Awareness Bell, and XT shifter. Then the wait for the snow to go away. Great explanation of volume spacers!

Very informative very informative great job I have a fox that needs to be overhauled I'm having the same problem good job nice and I didn't know that you have to put a little bit of air and then press down on the seat in order to get it through the chambers I didn't know that thanks a lot

New rider here. 2021 is my first year. Starting off with a 2021 Trek Roscoe 8. Thanks for all these awesome videos Tess :) You're the reason I'm trying something completely out of my comfort zone. I'm a very timid rider, and heard you say you were too in an earlier video. Been watching your videos ever since. Thanks for making a difference 🙂

Nice job. Added one just now and my ride feels less harsh. Bike park tomorrow for first time. Hard to get all the air out (Boom!) I had a hard time with the negative pressure and cycling it out. It took a bit more hand strength than I anticipated. But all good.

I bought a ShockWiz to help me tinker, and it's been fun playing with the DPX2 on my yeti SB130! I still bottom it out every ride, even with the 0.6in light blue spacer... So I'm gonna try the next size up tonight. I've been craving more adjustability, and soon I might upgrade to an Öhlins TTXAir that'll net me more supportive traction with less pressure necessary in the shock (for better small bump sensitivity.) Thanks for inspiring me to get off my computer and play with my bike~💜

My main ride this summer will be the Hardtail I built last year. This year I plan to add the dropper post I really needed last summer. I would also like to upgrade my full suspension from a 2x9 drive train to a 1x11, and maybe add a dropper as well, but probably not this year as my bike budget is slim.

This is very helpful. Got a Ripley about five weeks ago. My first full suspension bike. That said, I'm still playing around with a number of things, including the suspension. I'm 5'9"; so, I got a medium, but I'm also 177lbs. So, the light tune that it came with feels kinda harsh. Thinking I might give the larger volume spacer a try. Thanks.

Thank you I never knew it was that easy. Going off curves and just doing the neighborhood riding and playing around I use up almost all of my travel. But when I mountain bike are useless maybe I’m just not writing hard enough mountain biking do use more of it

I tried this for the 1st time a few months ago. Didn't cycle the shock while letting the air out and locked the negative air in. The shock sucked up into itself. I didn't have the guts to pop the canister myself so I made the bike shop do it 😆

Hi Betty, thanks for the volume spacer video. What size is your frame bag? I look online there’s different sizes. My Ripley is a size medium what’s your size suggestion on the bag.

Nice vid. Tank you. Did the orange spacer work fine for you? Or did you change it for the red one? I am also a really light rider and currently using the orange one with ok results in a short travel MTB, but I am considering getting the red one and trying it.

high speed compression. On bigger hits and or jumps, how does it behave in "trail" and locked position? Will it still allow full travel and will open valves fully?

Main bike for 2021 is my Cannondale Flash 29 2011. Demoed a Ripley and loved it but this family man (3 little kids) needs to be happy with the ride he has even though he doesn’t mtn bike race anymore. My big upgrade may be the fattest tires I can wedge in the frame. I would love suggestions to for making this bike less race like and more comfy!

Changed my the volume spacers on my Stumpjumper today, but the shock just had a lot of resistance when sliding it open, it was pushing back all the time so i had a really hard time accessing the spacer. Does somebody know why that happend ?

Some bike makers might list it but I think you'll probably still have to open it and see what's going on. Thankfully it's pretty easy. When I get a new bike, I usually Open up the fork and shock to see what's going on with volume spacers.

Can you put multiple volume spacers in shock or only one spacer?
@dustybettymtb
@dustybettymtb Год назад
In a fork, you stack them like tokens, but I think that most of the shocks I know of, you can only run one, so you just have to find the right size for what you need.
