Yeah me too! Admittedly, it is a bit mind-numbing at times, but I'll usually do them while I chat with friends on discord voice chat, so it's never really a boring time. And it iss absolutely worth it whenever I get a motif lead
As a new player it is a real struggle to make gold..many of the gold making guides require you to have maxed out gear and CP to farm content...your videos are very helpful.
My big brain idea is to buy many of the same map and leave them in my mail intray until I get to the right location. They then can be opened one at a time. You have to run around the block to re-set them in the same way as surveys. I love your content and presentation.

It's definitely a lesser-known fact for sure - given how easy it is for me to find these cheapo maps that give me motifs worth sometimes hundreds of thousands of gold, I know you aren't the only one that didn't know ;p Haha yeah that one comment made me laugh pretty hard. "Women used to be decent"
Wow! Is this the case for the console version as well? I literally have dozens and dozens of treasure maps that I’ve just gathered over the years. I’m just starting to use them but had no idea that they could lead to motifs. Time to start raising my scrying and antiquities skills 🤦🏻♂️
I recently sold three Ancestral Breton Shields for just under 3 million gold on PSNA over the last two months. My first sold for 2mill!! Breton has been pretty hot. I make sure to always check with other traders have out there before pricing them but at the time there were no shields anywhere in Tamriel so I priced it super high.
That drop into the water at the end made me giggle XD Great video, thank god I enjoy doing map hunting lol I wonder if, for example, I have one active lead from Blackwood, would the lead drop rate would be smaller for a lead of another same motif piece.
Ah yes, if you already have an active lead for say, a chest motif, then you won't be able to get another lead for a chest motif until you dig it up. Good point! But, if you have an active lead for say, some swords, you can continue to do treasure map chests and you shouldn't observe a decrease in drop chance - at least, I never have, and I've done hundreds of these maps by now ;p In this second scenario, it just means that you wouldn't be able to get another sword motif until you dig it up. Hope that helps :) I enjoy map hunting from time to time too. Ngl, the digging mini game is lowkey pretty fun ;p
Thank you for these videos Art. They've been so damn helpful. I find myself enjoying grinding resource nodes and treasure chests and I've been making more gold than I ever thought possible. Honestly I find running around for 1-2 hours at a time just collecting resources really relaxing. Now I finally have enough gold to pursue my true passion: paying motherly Altmer women to degrade and bully me! 🥵🥵🥵

While I enjoy flipping the shit out of certain items, sometimes I bring it back to basics and do a lil loop around some of my favourite node farming spots while I listen to some chill music just to relax or wind down a bit (this is especially needed after some late-night pvp ) And damn, I'll do that shit for free - I mean.... what?

C.O.D trader responded to me once when I was trying to trade perfect roe. Told them I was not paying tax and wanted to trade in person. The guy shows up and offers half the agreed price and I waited for them to change it after 2 minutes. Honestly, I do not under the point of C.O.D. Love the ESO content and I smashed the subscribe button
Scammers are my enemies as well. What's worse, is that it breaks my heart to see beginner players being victimized by these haters. The very ones who hate (and want to destroy) the very existence of farming and grinding for treasure map, crafting materials, gold and other forms of in-game currency and etc!
I’m glad I have a mate who gives me treasure maps for free. But that’s cause he knows any motif dupes I get he’ll find in his bank I’m surprised not enough people do treasure maps tbh. Even if it’s non-DLC, you can still gain passive gold from it and it’s better than just standing in Grahtwood for hours on end
I remember when Blackwood first came out, those annoying bots constantly spamming something like 'wtb bw map 1k each' in zone chat, in literally EVERY zone. Such a scam smh...
I know exactly what you are talking about - seeing those those made me so mad! I did my part to write in zone chat and inform others that those maps were actually super valuable, and to not fall for that scam!
Enjoy your vids a lot! Curious though; why, exactly, are these motifs expensive? When I check the "sold only" chart, it looks like it's just that someone pumps up the average price by making a absurdly high price listings. What they actually sell for, and how often (surprised the site has that info: very useful!) is not as impressive.
Which motifs are you speaking of? The base game ones? Many of those are indeed quite cheap, but the DLC ancestral motifs do indeed sell for a lot! They are harder to get and they are very nice looking! I sell them all the time myself for a lot of gold :) I should add that a few of those base game motifs do still sell for a lot though. I’ve seen the sales data for my guild and some guildies have been selling them for a lot (30-100k for some pieces)!
Weirdly, I was only thinking yesterday that this would be a good idea. Unfortunately, when I thought that I wasn't taking into account that the RNG gods hate me. Today, 15 chests and 200,000 gold later, I did get one lead for ancestral akaviri daggers, which was obviously one of the 5 pages I already knew and is currently for sale for 60k. I realise it's a small sample size and I wasn't able to get the maps as cheaply as I may have been with more patience, but things are still not working out as well as I had hoped.
Sorry, me harping on again, just call me Harpy. So I carried on buying maps regardless, especially seeing the price of some of the pages that I don't yet have. Three leads from 34 maps, so my odds have improved slightly, although I'm thinking everyone who sells maps watched your video, because I'm struggling to find them for much under 18,000, although that's probably not helped because I usually play when the server is less busy. I have noticed that I'm getting a lot of leads for Z'en Idols from the maps, so I just wanted to confirm that you weren't including those as part of the one in three. I assume not, but I've seen other people online saying the drop rate is about one in ten, but obviously I don't know what sample size they are basing that on. On the plus side, one of the three leads I got was one that I needed and I also bought one chapter, so only another seven to go, along with all the other motif chapters that I don't have yet. Is it just me that seems to set themselves stupidly difficult goals. I just spent January and February getting all of the attunable crating stations for one of my houses, which, to be fair, I was expecting to take about 6 months. My current goal is to complete every motif, which I've only allowed two months for, but I don't have that many left to get, although ZOS aren't helping by continually adding more. The next goal is to learn every furniture recipe, which I'm expecting to take a while, I don't have any idea how long that one will be. At the same time I'm also trying to max every skill on another character, a Stamblade that is currently using a destruction staff and a restoration staff, so that's not a pointless goal. I guess that could be useful, if I ever buy a few more armory slots, although race wouldn't be optimal for every role, oh wait, she's Imperial, not optimal for any role. Oh well, the joys of being a completionist.
Just to continue my own personal thread. I don't know if this is a helpful tip, the ramblings of a mad man or so obvious it doesn't need to be mentioned, but I'll go ahead anyway. I mentioned that I had been getting a lot of Z'en Idol leads, the clue here is in "a lot". For some reason, I had been excavating said Idols. Given that my scrying and excavating are already max level and that I already have a nice collection of Z'en Idols sitting in my antiquity storage house, I'm not really clear what my motivation was for doing this, but obviously the way to stop getting Z'en Idol leads is to already have one. To this end, I have not bothered excavating my current Z'en Idol lead and have since found that my motif lead drop rate has improved. It could just be a coincidence and I'm still not getting anywhere near one in three, but I am approaching one in five, which is a huge improvement on where I was. Again, this is just my experience over the past few days, so still a very small sample size, but it seems possible that the Z'en Idol leads would share the same potential drops as the motif leads and, as far as I know, you can't get two leads from one source at the same time. Again, in my small sample experience, the Idol leads are far more frequent than the motifs, so if each Idol lead is a potential motif lead, not excavating them will improve the odds of getting motif leads substantially. Sorry if this is really obvious to everyone else or completely incorrect.
Guess what, I'm still not done with my helpful tips. Having thought about the Z'en Idols and how you can't get a duplicate lead until you have excavated it, I had another helpful thought for people still trying to complete the motif. If you get a lead for a chapter you already have, don't excavate it and sell it. Keep it, so that you can't keep getting it. It may take until you have 14 active motif leads, but this way you guarantee that you will get all of the chapters sooner than you might have. I wish I had thought about this before excavating my second ancestral akaviri belt motif of the day. To add to my punishment, I got both after purchasing the chapter earlier today. Sorry again, if I am stating what is obvious to everyone else and for my unwillingness to let this thread die.
Sorry, I still haven't given up on this, just wanted to post an update now that I have some more days of data. Sticking with my plan of not excavating leads, I currently have 9 leads, which only include one of the four pages I still need. So I have nine leads, plus five that I excavated before deciding to hold onto my leads. Having previously mentioned that my rate had dropped to closer to one in five, that has definitely not been the case since. At that time I had got three leads from the previous 17 maps. I have now used 127 maps for my total of 14 leads, so around a one in nine drop rate. The problem is I don't know if my plan of hanging onto leads is what's caused my drop rate to go back down. I was assuming that I would still get the same number of drops that I would have with no leads, but would only get leads that I don't already have. It may be, however, that I would have been getting more leads, but haven't been, because I already have the lead that would have dropped. It's very difficult when you don't know exactly how the system works. Does the chest generate a lead, then not give it to you because you already have it or does the chest generate a lead and automatically select one that you don't already have a lead for. When I word it like that, the first option seems a lot more likely, so it may well be that my plan is very flawed and just costing a lot of money in the motif pages that I've missed by storing the leads. Either way, having come this far, I'm not turning back now. At least this is relatively cheap compared with some of the other motifs that I still need.
Treasure chest maps drop motif *leads*, not motifs themselves. Those are two different things. You would need to have access to the antiquity system to then go ahead and scry/excavate that lead to then receive a motif page. (Edit: spelling)
been selling my maps mostly from laziness and noticed the dlc ones seemed to sell better and never knew why so thx for info! with that, does 1500g sound too low? u think i could do better? (XBOX)

Too bad I’ll have to wait until my PS4 is fixed - or rather TOLD to mom that it seems to need to be fixed but as much as I get verbally chewed out over the most petty issue by her alone, I can never seem to talk to her like an adult without hearing either complaints or yelling. Both my system AND controller are messed up - and the system itself keeps making noises. Before I go to sleep at night, I’m having to (by mom telling me to do so 😡) wrap my PS4 in a plastic trash bag to “try and keep literal bugs out of my system” after turning the system off completely, but I’ve always felt that to be not her brightest idea. Plus, for my controller - about a year ago I was on the verge of sharing with mom a trick I heard about to dislodge dust from beneath the control sticks by using a bit of compressed air to spray, but when I tried to take the can and show her, she snatched the can from my hand and proceeded to use it herself but she kept hitting the wrong areas of the controller - she kept hitting the screws that hold the controller-casing in place.....
I play on PS4 NA. I buy all Treasure maps priced 300 gold or lower on guild traders. Been working well. Curious, anytime I see a Deadlands map priced under 60K I buy it and sell it for 60K . Why are they so valuable?
Do certain dlc maps only drop certain motif pages? i.e. I seem to only ever get belts and bows from Reach Treasure Map I. Where as I seem to get different ancestral barbarics from Western Skyrim ones
Not to my knowledge; only the basegame maps operate in this manner. Here is the UESP page on the ancestral reach motif as a reference: en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Ancestral_Reach_Style If you take a look at the UESP pages for the base game ancestral motifs, you will see that they categorize each map as yielding a different kind of motif lead. That isn't the case here.

Ah, not a bad idea. Fortunately, you are guaranteed a piece of gear every time you open a treasure map chest, and the "treasure hunter" cp does not affect whether or not a lead will drop from you, but it will at least promote the chances of you receiving a blue or purple piece of gear!
