I love declutters. They are basically mini-reviews where you touch on different things -shades, price etc, and I love seeing what you think is worth keeping.
These are the kind of videos that I was searching for on RU-vid years ago when I started my makeup and eyeshadow palette obsession! You get to really see what people like and don't by what they hold on to and what they declutter!❤ Jen was one of the first ones I trusted and still do!😉
I like the fact you talk about each palette, I get a bit frustrated when declutters move too fast without reason or mini swatches. Looking forward to the next episode x
That was a marathon and so interesting to see all the different palettes from various sources. I couldn't believe it when you said you needed to make part 2! I was amazed with almost 2 hours of part 1. Your memory for that many palettes is impressive to say the least. I really appreciate comments on quality also because that is something you can't feel online when shopping.
Wahoo, I’m first, Good Morning Jen, everyone stay safe and warm with this freeze hitting us here in Texas, praying we don’t lose power as in the past 2 years, keep your pets inside.🙏🏻❤️. Love me some declutters and I’m just amazed of your memory on all these pallets.🥰
I hope you guys will make out okay! It's so strange but the last few times you got a deep freeze in TX, we had warmer than average weather here. I remember feeling like we switched places...yesterday it was 60 here! It felt like an early Spring.
I’m here in Central Texas and will be hiding inside, reading my Kindle and sipping hot tea. What a swing in temperature!! This summer was 109, soon it will be 9 degrees! 🥶😀
@@JenPhelpsI just hope we don’t get the freezing rain, TX is not prepared for this type of weather. I’m staying put and watch football all day. Oh yesterday I got in that Ulta Complexion Crush Foundation that you told us about, wow used it yesterday and it went on so pretty and the color I ordered was perfect, looked good still at the end of the day.🥰
Many years ago I was a client at a battered womans center. We had group therapy on Thursdays. There was a large basket of donated cosmetics for us to pick from. Since I was semi homeless and worked full time with two daughters it was so helpful. I hope you might donate to the women. Btw. I am very happy now, have a great life.
There is a women's shelter nearby that I donate to but they only take new makeup. So I can't give them anything that's been touched but I can donate PR that I don't open. 😊
Oh I just can't wait for part 2!! This was so fun. Eyeshadow palettes just make me swoon so this was the best. You are such a powerhouse of knowledge! Thank you for being here with us !
I find myself wondering if she'll keep the Pretty Grunge palette. She didn't much care for it. I'd love to buy it, but...I just don't want to spend my money on it.
Great declutter! "I like it" is a perfect reason to keep something. For me personally, I've accepted that I may only be able to get one eyeshadow look out of a palette. But as long as I am enjoying and using those few shades, I'm happy and I will keep it. 😊
Happy Sunday everyone, Thank you Jen!❤ Got coffee ☕️ and settled in!😁 Switching to my iPad to see the details better. Love the big overview of your collection and the details of why you kept or got rid of each. Love! Looking forward to seeing part 2!❤
I just recently had a baby and have been binging your old declutter videos as ways to calm down and entertain myself during nightly feeds! What a pleasant surprise it was to see a new declutter from you!!
Aww I remember those nights! When my son was born I didn't watch RU-vid so I would put the TV on quietly and watch QVC. I learned about so many makeup brands that way!
wtf how many pallets did colourpop reliesed… i feel like 10000 at this point😂 they reinventing the colour wheel over and over again. they need to slow down.
This was awesome! Two hours of Jen giving us history, swatches, opinions, and decluttering decisions. I can’t wait for part two! I folded three loads of laundry while watching, and it was great! I remember the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bon Palette was one of my first high end palettes - I loved the heart-shaped pans and the smell, too! 😊
Wow, that was an undertaking and only half way through!! I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on each palette so it makes sense to break this down into two videos. Another great video Jen, thanks!!
A two hour Jen video? Heck yes! I’m snowed in up here in Michigan 😩 Shoveled a foot of snow yesterday off my porch and driveway. Now it’s closed right back in again 😂. I’m not doing it again today. Nope, no thank you very much. I would absolutely watch a four hour video of yours lol. So here I sit, snowed in, waiting patiently for part two 😂❤
Really enjoyed this, and yes, it was super long, but I watched it in installments. Very relaxing, enjoyable, and lots of good info. You inspired me to rediscover my beloved old Too Faced palettes, and you’re right-still so great! Looking forward to part two!
Man. I know this is a super long 2 hour video, but it’s a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Listening/watching this video kept me company while I do gardening and prepping dinner. By the way every time you say “I’m going to give to friends and families”… I just think: can I be your friend? I’ll be happy to take anything you declutter. 😬😅
How do we get on your friends and family list for declutters lol? You got rid of a bunch of gorgeous stuff, as someone who has a much larger makeup collection than I probably need, you have my admiration, I have such a hard time decluttering and I really need too, and I don’t have a RU-vid channel as an excuse to keep way more than I need, lol.
Love you Jen! And the eyeshadow gods need to shine on me to Declutter my own ridiculously large collection! I do not have a channel, so I have zero need for over 400 palettes! I use an entire large dresser in my bedroom for palettes. The largest drawer is my makeup memories drawer that I never use. They aren’t going anywhere tho! I have the old comfort zone from wet n wild that doesn’t even have a top bc it broke, but I used it so much that all the shades I’ve hit pan on!
If you would just film your life and narrate it and describe things I would be happy. LOL ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ ETA~~~ that might sound a bit creepy but what I mean is that I just love Jens soothing voice and the way she describes things and tell stories. Much respect😎
Over two hours of total relaxation for me as well as eyeshadow education. Jen where is your Colourpop Tinkerbell palette?? Lol! I can’t wait until part two to relax even more and learn even more. Those Doll 10 shadows look wonderful btw ❤😊
I've been doing them the last few months, I've already done my complexion products back in November, I think it was? So primers, foundation, concealer and powders. I've also done a cream blush declutter. When I'm done with palettes, I'll do blush/bronzer/highlighter.
From BH Cosmetics, I am keeping all mine. Those suckers keep their pigmentation like if they were brand new..! 😊 It's too bad they shutdown the brand..!🤷♀️
Hi Jen! I love your declutters, we get so much information/history with each palette. You asked who collab'd with Colourpop to create the Salvaje palette (43:52 - ish). It was Becky G! Looking forward to part 2! 😍🥰
This was an awesome video!!!!! I love your declutters because of all the information on the formulas, color stories, and brand information!!!!! You are so incredibly helpful but I did find another handful I feel I need now! 😳
What a haul! I was watching the first half of this while working on my own inventory, so I really didn't notice how much time was passing. I really do like going over so many in one talk, it's like a great synopsis of the various brands and their evolution. Looking forward to the next part!
Bravo Jen! All these decluttering videos have been inspiring and a nice stroll down memory lane. I've been going through my eyeshadows, lip products and nail polishes, and OMG, I didn't realize I had so much, and I'm not even a RU-vidr! I don't blame you for dreading this task; it's exhausting, but you feel much better afterwards. Drawers that can close are good. 😊
It’s so interesting to me how you gravitate to cool tones and I love the warms tones. I think part of it is I’ve found warm tones flatter my blue eyes more.
I do like some warm tones but I don't wear the orange/red combos that a lot of them have. But the Doll Squad 2.0 and Colourpop Cali Love palettes are some of my favorites and they're warm...just not too warm, lol! You're right though, warm tones flatter blue eyes the most.
@@JenPhelps I also feel that warm tones are most flattering to my blue eyes. But, blue eyes do differ, so that may not be a universal rule. What I like to do is wear cool toned eye shadow in the winter, and warm tones in the summer, for no particularly good reason. Just preference. Anyway, I decided to use up my cool tones and not buy anymore. So eventually I'll be going to warm tones year round!
@@JenPhelps yea I LOVE your doll 2.0 palette it’s on my list of palettes to buy. I don’t love orange or red either but browns, golds, and coppers are my jam
Your comments about BH & some ABH ones having wet shimmers/not a lot of glitter did not go unnoticed! :) & agree, it's a shame BH seems to have fallen off the radar.
This video made my day since I’m sick in bed. Thank you! 👏🏼 Good to see some very familiar CP palettes. I like their older palettes better (and packaging artwork too). I had a giant CP palette collection until recently and now I just have 5 older classics for memories sake. Amazing how repetitive the color stories are when you see a ton of them at once.
Jinx, I did some organization and purging earlier…feels so good! I discovered I had an amazing highlighter that’s got a pink shift-and I’d never used it! TY for the nostalgia…would you ever put all the palettes open side by side to see the full spectrum you have? I mean, you’d need a huge empty floor space 🙃
Wow!!! Great job Jen! What a day to snuggle down and spend time with you. It's below zero outside and my dog is on my lap and we were in for the long haul. Can't wait for part 2! 💕🩷
I miss bh cosmetics. They could have gone so far. I actually thought they had a better formula than colourpop and Juvias place. Plus you got mirrors. Sad they were bought by revolution.
Loved this declutter video and yours are the only ones I enjoy. Thanks for sharing all this work. Reminded me I need to pull out a few oldies but goodies for some love.👍🏽🥰 Looking forward to part two.
And I’d had Huda Beauty to that list. Check out her comments on Israel and American Jews. Totally uncalled for and I can’t support any brand that endorses hatred.
Yay! I love declutters. I guess it not necessarily the declutter. I like collection videos too I just like when someone goes thru their collection talking about them.
I liked how you opened that one palette and said it was hard to think of looks with it. I think that's a good rule for decluttering and shopping too! A palette should be "easy". ❤
You are the Queen of Palettes, Jen! I watched all of this one because I like to hear your thoughts on each one. I have bought several on your recommendations in the past. You have some I have never heard of. Amazing collection and good to see you go through them. Thank you. Looking forward to part II.
First declutter I’ve watched. This was so interesting and much appreciation for discussing each palette. “This section is the Bain of my existence.” Lol! You deserve a nap after that!
What a marathon! I always appreciate hearing your thoughts on eyeshadow brands in general and seeing little comparisons. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I love seeing your colour pop “vault”. I have the same nostalgia especially for the older palettes. It was a time when you could get really excited about a release and still be able to enjoy it before CP started coming out with releases every week. I think it’s fine to hold on to that history.
Wow, you really brought us back with some of thosecolourpop pallettes had forgotten about those. I also have the zodiac pallet from BH cosmetics. I don’t use it for a few years and I just got back into it recently and you’re right it’s fantastic. Never watched a video this long but really enjoying!!
Coloured Raine, Lorac & ABH were my hands down favorite eyeshadow brands back in 2016/17. I also really liked the Huda 9 pans (original & gemstones) I ended up depotting all of my CR palettes & making my own custom palettes from the shades I liked best. Oddly enough all 3 brands had a shimmer formula that irritated my eyes. I have since replaced those brands with Sydney Grace for the most part & really need to toss some shadows at this point since I know they are expired. Never owned anything from Tarte or TooFaced altho I always admired Tarte's compacts since they looked like an enameled compavt your Grandma would have owned in the 1920.
My absolute favorite declutters are from you Jen! Matter of fact you’re the first one that got me into them! I fall asleep and wake up and rewatch them over and over. So so relaxing! Excited to see this one!
Good Sunday morning Jen!! Wow..what an extraordinary collection. I would watch you for four hours. Love your product knowledge and your passion for your craft. Must admit my heart was breaking on a few of the pallets. Cannot wait for part two. Thank you Jen for sharing and I appreciate you!💪😘❤
Love your declutters. I have a fair to light, cool pinky complexion and refer to you for base products. Then my favorite eyeshadow colors are purpley mauves and green.... and I love cool tones. A lot of your preferences are what I prefer too. I scaled down my palettes significantly and kept only what I'll use. Getting rid of it was actually liberating lol. I'm trying to stick to a no buy/low buy this year and use up what I have. Anyway, love the video. Thanks, Jen ❤
I have the Riviera palette and was lucky enough to buy it at Marshall's for 13$ CDN. I have never used it because I'm not sure what look to do. I would love it to see you use it again and see what you come up with. Why don't you use a palette from your collection once a week? I think it would be fun for you to revisite your palettes and give them some much needed love. That would teach us to stop buying all the time and use what we have. tks Jen.
Jen, I am fairly new to the beauty space (in the last year). Watching your trip down Colourpop Memory Lane was amazing! I loved the timeline and lesson learned about the brand. Thank you!
Hi Jen, thanks for the video! It distracted me from worrying about whether or not my power will go off (Texas resident.) I found it interesting to hear your reasons for keeping/not keeping a palette. One thing that struck me was how random the color stories seem in a lot of these palettes. It looks like whoever designed some of them just picked out any old colors and threw them together. I generally don't buy palettes because I don't use shimmers, glitters, or metallic colors, and there are very few all matte palettes out there. I did spot a couple in your trove, and I'm firmly reminding myself that I don't need any eye shadow. I'd love to get the Colourpop Gone Matte, but that's 35 pans of eye shadow to use up. It's just an awful lot of shadow, and I feel like I don't need it. That said, I did get myself the e.l.f. Perfect 10 Summer Breeze palette (all matte and $10) for Christmas. It's mostly warm shades, so I'm keeping it unopened to enjoy next summer. (Storing in a dark, cool place.) Looking forward to Part 2!
I am certain I have used eyeshadow palettes that were nearing ten years old. Like circa 2010, 2012. So far I haven’t had any eye infections or anything 🤷🏻♀️. I do have an absolute rule of never sharing makeup with anyone though. I have sprayed some isopropyl alcohol mist onto the shadows occasionally and let them dry to disinfect, but not always. I didn’t realize I wasn’t supposed to do that. I throw out mascaras after a while but mostly because they dry out rather than fear of bacterial contamination. Just me?
A wonderful and fun trip down memory lane!❤. The semi-sweet chocolate bar palette was my favorite from the older Too Faced tins. I still have my Lorac PRO I and my unzipped. Cold, dead finger level of declutter for me on those! 😂 I’m sitting here as a medium skin toned girl going “hey Jen! I’ll take all the palettes you’re decluttering because they are too dark!” Me! Me! Lol. If I wear light shimmers with my skin tone I just look frosted, and not in a good way 😂 so I wear a little bit darker shimmers. Thanks Jen!
So interesting to see all of these palettes close up. I am really grateful to hear the detailed reviews. I love eyeshadow but steer clear of dark and bold colors, so curious about options, as if I am desperately seeking the “right one” yet I don’t even wear makeup every day. I appreciate when Content Creators like you, do this work. That said, as curious as I might be, I am overwhelmed by the 15 (count ‘em - 15 - lol) palettes I have, 3 of which are similar color stories from different brands and I get mad at myself for spending $ on 3 that are essentially the same. Knowing many of the 190 you are keeping so far are for comparison purposes in future videos, how do you decide which one you will use each day, especially when many seem similar? You have an impressive memory to keep track of all these btw!
I can’t part with my Bh Cosmetics collection either! I did declutter the Avocado Toast palette because I rarely wear green, but kept a long list of the others! The quality is just superb and the formula isn’t one that is easily found- of at all. The pallets were amazingly consistent- no dud shades at all in the pallets- every shade applied beautifully. Bh Cosmetics was the brand that made me realize brands like Too Faced are NOT worth it! Too Faced palettes always had at least one shade that didn’t preform and that was no longer acceptable after using such a high quality formula at a drugstore price!
I made a game of "what will Jen keep and what is her preference" out of this video.😅 As the video progressed, I got more and more accurate! Looking forward to Part 2!
Wow, as a mature gal (55.yo) with slightly crepey eyes, this confirms how a majority of palettes have still have too much glitter for my preferences. No FOMO for me. Have u tried the Bobbi Brown palette? It has beautiful satin formula.
@@JenPhelps wouldn’t it be nice if they re-release it again at some point…I’d collect them all. I’m looking forward to the next one, particularly if it’s cool toned.
I have a huge collection of single shadows. I just went through them with a critical eye and cut down my collection to 24 shadows that I always consistently use. I really want to try Sydney Grace eyeshadow... I don't own anything from her unfortunately. I was just browsing her single shadows last night... So tempting.
I love that we get to hear your thought process while deciding and the mini reviews of each one. You reminded me about a couple palettes I need to give more love to like the Tarte Aspyn Ovard. Can't wait for part 2!
Great job decluttering so far, Jen! I really appreciate you talking about/showing each palette and explaining why you're keeping or decluttering it. Btw, when I saw you were decluttering Juvia's Place's the Tribe, oh my! I never picked that one up and JP's unfortunately discontinued it. I love the color story, but I get it if it's not your favorite. Looking forward to part 2!
Limoncello! I recently went to a lemon themed event and did an eye look using my Juvia's Place shadows based on that palette. 😆 It turned out beautifully!
There are ways to sanitize palettes. Would you be willing to gift these to someone if they show proof that they have the tools to sanitize if properly?
Hi Jen, I very much enjoyed watching yourdeclutter video, and yes I watched it to the end, I wish they would sell color pop products here in Australia , I was talking to my daughter and said we really need to check out this brand when we holiday in America. Love Katherine xoxo
Hey Jen my daughter loves it when I’m decluttering anything as she’s funny I say would you like anything and her answer ill have all please see you soon ❤
I give you credit for being able to let go of so many palettes and I am getting ideas of how I can declutter by looking at what are the best quality of similar color stories, I just love ccolor and I have kept them all, even though I have bought most of the real, just because they are such great quality and I can’t get them anymore, same with my bad habit palettes and I am getting picky with what I buy now
Perfect video for my Sunday morning! You have a TON of palettes, wow!!! I have the chocolate bar palettes too and I can’t get rid them either!! The struggle is real!
I had so much fun doing other chores and watching this. I wish I was one of your friends to get some of your declutters. I will watch part 2! Thanks Jen - love hearing your thoughts. Makes me wish I was a beauty YT channel.
