I've said this before, but I really love watching your declutter videos. They are relaxing to me unlike some other channels because I feel like you really put a lot of thought (and wear) to your products and you don't just throw things out to hit a number. You keep the products you truly love and you use those products. I also really love the reviews you give as you declutter. Thank you for filming this. I know you probably could go thru this much faster if you weren't reviewing. I know filming and editing all this is probably a bit of a headache but I sincerely appreciate the extra time and the work you put into this
Ohhh I'm excited for this video!! I love a good declutter session with reviews and details about the products mixed in makes it all the better!! Personally I'd like to see eyeshadow palettes next video but I'll watch in whatever order.🧡🖤🧡
Love your declutters and I love how you don’t say you like stuff just because it’s hyped up and everybody else says it’s amazing. Makes me trust your reviews way more!
even though you and i are of different age groups and different skin types i know i can still rely on a ton of your recommendations! nothing i’ve tried that you’ve recommended or enjoyed has let me down yet. and the products you don’t like, you’ll provide reasons for and mention who the product might be good for, which i also really appreciate. ❤
I’m back to using the Catrice foundation. I started using moisturizer with dimethicone (Neutrogena water gel) and sunscreen with dimethicone (Supergoop unseen sunscreen) and wow! Before I found this skincare combo, I thought it was kind of patchy and fussy. With these 2 products, it’s now one of my faves because it lasts so well. EDITED TO ADD: I used this combo this morning and it’s probably a little too matte for this time of year - my skin is mostly normal and needs a little more moisture this time of year…
This video is a keeper. I will definitely refer back to it when it’s time to get new items. Thanks Jenn! Btw, I want to see all the declutters, in no certain order.
I love declutters- even though i would never get rid of any of my stuff. It is like a mini review of everything I wish I had. 😂 I use every bit of my own small collection 😂
And in Australia, we can't return make-up, so if it's not the right colour, you often find yourself buying a shade that's not right when it's on sale, so you can mix and get full use out of one you bought at full price and it doesn't match you as well as you thought it would!! Now you can use it instead of wasting it. I never toss with dates though, I go by smell, colour, separating, faded colour, dusty instead of 'powdered' in palettes...how about you???
@@lynettefinnigan9540 Yes, and no. One thing I consistently throw out 4 months after I first use it is mascara. The US Food and Drug Administration website recommends throwing it out 2 to 4 months after the first use. I mark the first letter of the first use month on the tube with nail polish. I'm compulsive about it because of the danger of an eye infection. Other products...I pretty much follow your rule. But I try to be very careful as to how much I buy. For example, right now I have 2 blushes. And one is a travel size I bought to try the shade. And I try to use products up before opening a new one. I do think that powders can last for a few years, especially if they're stored sealed in a dark, cool place. And, if I have tinted moisturizer or foundation with sunscreen in it, and it's past the expiration date, I'll use it up, but I'll also make certain to wear sunscreen under it. I usually do anyway because I don't trust that foundation or tinted moisturizer will give me sufficient sun protection after I blend it down. Sunscreen is one thing that should be thrown out after it expires. Sunscreen *does* lose effectiveness after the expiration date.
I would love this too! Jen always has the coolest, most interesting nail polish colors on! I would really love to add some of them to my collection as I do my own pedicures and manicures most of the time.
I love decluttering. Thank you for the reviews of each product, very helpful! Hey can I suggest a video. 'if I suddenly lost all my make up what are the 10 products I would repurchase'. xxx
I agree with you on the It cosmetics CC cream. The Nude glow works so much better for me. I had to return the original because it looked way too heavy on me.
Whew!!! I viewed in 4 sessions over 2 days and loved this. Ultimately, it was a review of hundreds of products which is invaluable information when making choices. ❤❤❤
Thank you for mini reviews. That’s the only time I will watch anyones declutter video. Having someone say this is old, this is old throw throw throw is not enjoyable to me.
Heimish Artless Glow Base is my favourite glowy primer with sunscreen. It really helps my foundation stay all day. I don’t know why no one else is talking about it
The elf power grip primer doesn’t contain xylitol while the milk makeup one does. Xylitol is poisonous to dogs which is why I choose the elf primer over the milk makeup primer. They perform the exact same way though IMO :)
Hi Jen - unsure if this has been said but the Lisa Eldridge foundation is available in sample cards to be able to correctly match! There are shade groups to choose from and they arrive very quickly!
I really appreciate the reviews you give as you declutter. I am a makeup addict, so it is soooooo hard to purge! I think I have a similar skin type to you, so getting the scoop on especially what foundations/CC Cremes work best for you is golden! XOXO You're a gem!
I’m always interested in bronzers and blushes, but eyeshadows are good too. You are right regarding the Kosas baked powder, I don’t understand the hype, it is so chalky on my skin. Fortunately, I just bought a mini size. I will use it but I am not very happy with it. My Rimmel one works better. Also, don’t store it vertically because it breaks inside, and mine broke even if it was brand new. So now I keep it horizontal in any circumstances. I don’t understand how these expensive products can be so complicated sometimes…
I never cared for that Impossible Primer by WnW either, but it was because on me, as I would start applying it, it would start balling up/pilling up on my face! A definite no lol 😅
That's amazing that the $5 Believe Beauty foundation is similar (or maybe even better) than the $45 Haus Labs foundation. I got shade matched in store and they said I was 160 which is supposed to be neutral but it's slightly yellow. I was so excited to try it but boy was I disappointed. Thankfully I only got a sample of it. I do like the Believe Beauty foundation so I'll keep using that instead. Thanks for saving me $40. I bought the Catrice foundation and concealer during the most recent Amazon shopping days, so I didn't like hearing that you didn't like it. I hope I have a better experience but your opinions of foundations are usually the same as mine. I love the Revlon Illuminance foundation so much that I bought a 2nd bottle today. Revlon has a habit of discontinuing my favorite foundations (the Revlon whipped creme foundation was my all time favorite).
The only issue with anything Jen mentioned was I had the Laura Gellar powder foundation and it turned yellow on my skin. I may have had the wrong shade but it looked terrible on me.
Loreal ProGlow in the shade creamy natural has that exact same grayish undertone and we feel the same way about most things I've noticed. We have the same skin tone. There's a depth and we can tan, but we tend to run on the fair side as far as foundations. Anything with a lot of yellow looks all wrong on me too. I have the light peachy/beige undertones. My Mom has very Irish features. Red hair, freckles and fair skin. My Dad was very dark American Indian with jet black hair. I look like you threw them in a blender and I'm what came out. Lol Anyway, I wanted to mention that foundation to you. I think it will work great for your skin tone. I LOVE mixing together the proglow with the Loreal Age Perfect in the shade Rose Ivory. It makes the most beautiful combo and finish on my skin. PS.... I'm 42 years old for comparison.
Jen, you really inspired me! Tonight while I had a face mask on, I went through my entire medicine cabinet and decluttered my skin products. Things that were outdated, and that I'd never use. I'm not quite finished, but I'd say I rid myself of 2/3 of what was in there! This weekend, I'm going to begin my autumn makeup declutter. Just a quick fyi: if you're interested in tinted moisturizers that don't sit on your skin, but blend well with it, try Anne T Dotes from The Balm. They've got lots of shades in the fair category! I use #10 fair because my skin is porcelain, so has warm undertones. However, because I suffer from rosacea, I have to use neutral to cool tones in my tinted moisturizer and CC cream. You might want to try #10 fair, too, as I know we are both extremely fair skinned. I'm Irish-German so the complexion deck is rather stacked against me, lol. I remain the same color all year round, otherwise I burn. Sometimes it's a pain to be the fairest of them all, he he! The Balm also makes Anne T Dotes concealer, and they've got some really fair shades, including cool shades. The price is pretty reasonable too. They have good sales, and I got mine for half price! One quick question: have you ever tried ELF's Camo CC Cream? Did you like it or not, and did you do a vid on it? The tube I have is a shade that matches my skin perfectly so you can't tell I'm wearing base. Sorry this is a bit chatty; I had a few questions. Have a great weekend!
I'm an Irish - English - Scottish American charter member of the Pasty White Club. Motto: "We Can't Tan." I feel your pain. Preferred makeup shade: A Whiter Shade of Pale.
@@20thcenturyrelic ROTFL! I am definitely a charter member of the same club. The last time I tried to tan, I ended up in hospital with second degree burns and sun poisoning. Then I shed like a snake! No thanks, don't care to repeat that experience!
@@ecclestonsangel I've had some nasty sunburns, but NEVER that bad! I got sensible and started using sunscreen. If I just have to be tan, I can get a spray tan.
@@20thcenturyrelic well....this was when I was just a teenager. Back then, we really didn't understand how the sun worked or how dangerous it could be. My sister went sunbathing with just baby oil! I wear sunscreen religiously now, and a big hat. Or I stay in my apartment, which has blackout drapes. Spray tan is my friend. I'm allergic to the sun now. I'll get a rash if I'm not careful, and I can get sun poisoning very easily now. I just tell people that I'm a vampire, lol!
@@ecclestonsangel I was also careless about the sun as a teenager. My dermatologist warned me, but I had oily skin, and the sunscreens weren't nearly as good as they are now. I started wearing sunscreen regularly in my mid 20s. Better late than never!
I love mixing double wear with a lighter coverage foundation to make a medium finish. It works amazing and I haven’t found a foundation that I like better. I also got the rem foundation and ended up returning it. It looked beautiful in the morning but a mess at the end of the day. I had the same experience as you.
Jen, I totally am with you on your opinion on that Catrice True Skin...everyone raves about it and it looks just awful on me; no matter what I do or how I apply it! I do really LOVE that Joah BB cream and that Revlon Illuminance foundation is fantastic on my dry, mature skin - Great video, as always 🌺
Hi Jen, thanks for the video! I like your makeup look at the beginning. I was interested to hear what you said about the L'Oreal Age Perfect Balm.I thought about trying it when I use up a couple of products that I have. But the lightest color looks too dark for me. Idk, it may be because I'm looking at it online. It may also be one of those products that look very different when they're actually on the skin. But...I think I'll skip it and try the Revlon Illuminance Foundation instead. The lightest shade looks like a good match for me. And I had the Becca color corrector in fair/light. The color was great, but it was so extremely shiny that I just couldn't wear it. It looked awful on me. If I could find a similar product with a lot less shine, I'd try it.
I enjoy a good declutter and why... when its out because its all used, it must be good....(buy it!), when its out because its yuk to use, or on the skin feel/reactions are not nice (good to know), or how it looks...then it's a good tip for a "no buy".... thanks 😊👍👍👍 I do like the NYX primer though...and in summer, I keep make-up much lighter, so a tinted moisturiser and a very finely-milled powder is all I like as foundation.
Hello Jen. Sorry for my english. I'm french. Could you do a declutter about your eyeshadow palette please. Thank you so much for your advices and your videos.
Hi Jen, I enjoyed watching this video, I recently did a declutter of my makeup collection, some products are easy to declutter( foundations, concealers, and primers for me) however eyeshadow palettes ,blushes and lipsticks were the hardest, but I was a big girl and parted with a lot. Jen I would love it if your next declutter video are eyeshadow pallets and blushes please. Love Katherine xoxo
I love the VLD primer, it’s so beautiful on my dry skin and my foundation looks stunning when I use it…😁 I really love the Marshmallow primer as well…💜 I love the Double Wear on my dry skin but like you I apply it with a sponge. It’s been my holy grail for years but I have to admit my Haus Labs is tipping the scale, it’s another holy grail, Haus Labs colouring system’s is different, their cool shades come with a W an their warm shades are C. A couple of other content makes I watch explained it in detail.😊
Since i gave birth 2 years ago i have more combo skin, but even when i had dry/flakey skin Estee Lauder DW was one of my HG foundations! You need one pump at time and spread it really well, a good moisturiser and you are good to go 😅
I like these declutter videos, it's a right waste to see what gets chucked away but I like the mini reviews and seeing products I've bought and seeing if you feel the same about them
I don't remember if I've ever seen you do this category, but it's my fave. Single shadows, creams in pots, crayons, powders in pots. 😊 your milk primer is looking a tad dark, is it old? I just remember manny mua had one that was way too old and dark. I love the vdl primer and since I don't wear sunscreen it's perfect. (I don't go out, or maybe 30 min 2x a month, too difficult on my body now, fibromyalgia)holy primers batman 😂, when you're not testing, how do you decide what to use? I'm getting decision fatigue from you , phew i even think i have too many for y own nano channel 😮 great, now that Jason wu is in Canada I guess I'll have to try it, but it's 'spensive here 😢 I keep waiting for the Revlon foundation to go on sale, I don't want to pay 28 cad for drugstore 😢 we can't get ulta anything here 😢😢😢 I would love to see you test the "old" covergirl foundations 😅 might be good 😊 fit me is still rocking it. It was always my go to when I ran out of it or doll 10 until they were back on sale on tsc. I'm still looking for a concealer for my prednisone damed krinkles under eyes. Sigh 😅 I want to try house labs, was told I need no12, cause sephora had 5 shades and only 1 left. (Welcome to Canada 😅) hmmmmm Revlon... I didnt like shape tape even before the krinkles you and your young skin, everything works lol ok, now I need an under eye corrector thanks 😅 want t send cash? Kidding 😂😂 i 😂😂 😂 or am I.... lol. You are just simply so succinct in your descriptions it's difficult to not was something 😅 prismeuh libreuh no accent on the e and it's French not Spanish. 😘💖😘💖😘💖😘💖
1:19:33 I would advise you to try the same kind of powder by Shiseido called 7 Lights Powder Illuminator, I think you’ll like it, I like it more that the Moira one.
The Heimish BB Cream and is discounted hugely today in Amazon, a saving of $14 since the reduced price is $7.99 for Prime Membership. In case you are interested... Just ordered it.
I love your declutters! Thanks for such an informative video. I had the same issue with finding a color match in the new L'oreal True Match. I also tried 3 different cool shades that did not work. Then I tried the color match recommendation on the Ulta website when I put in my EL Double Wear color 1N1 and it recommended L'oreal True Match in W2 and it is a perfect peachy neutral undertone. I've never been matched to a warm undertone either. 🤣
Love this! Btw, I have the L'Oreal Foundation in C 2.5 and it's just about perfect, even though it says light/medium. And my skin tone is similar to yours.
How about a video featuring pore blurring primers that can be used instead of foundation? I'm a huge fan of the Laura Gellar Spackle mattify primer which had a mid-fair tint and I wear that instead of foundation. Unfortunately, it's no longer in production 😢
You’re not crazy lol I didn’t like the Kosas Cloud Set powder either. I could not understand why people raved about it. It’s actually pretty bad! I took mine back to the Sephora the next day after I bought it. It’s times like these that makes me skeptical about people raving about products on RU-vid, because I just can’t imagine that powder being good on any skin 🤷🏻♀️ Like…did they get paid to rave about that over and over? Surely they must’ve
A Jen Phelps declutter is an educational experience! And fun! So many things I've never seen or heard about before! It never feels like you're just tossing excess PR. I believe you've actually used each of these products several times, alone and in combination or sequence with other products, and I do believe you've given a thorough evaluation. Well, except for maybe some really bad things like the anti-bluelight primer, which was so appallingly bad on first use. Love your explanations and I'm so grateful for your considerable time. Thanks Jen!
My favs are Tarte BB Tinted treatment primer Danessa Myricks YUMMY SKIN!!!!!! Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer natural skin perfector Smashbox Halo my new favorite is Glossier foundation it has the best satin finish did not even need powder and it’s the absolute perfect color of my skin love love love it!!!! Great coverage looks like my skin but perfect lol I do t like glowy shiny anything looks greasy to me … the halo is kinda too shiny have to powder it for sure wish it didn’t have sunscreen… 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
Eyeshadow palettes next please! I don’t usually watch such long videos but I really enjoyed this one. You have a nice mix of products and I appreciate that. Be well.
I just discovered you and now I'm subscribed 😊 This is also my first declutter video. I recently went through my whole stash and have a bag of stuff to get rid of. I'm recycling as much as I can but what do you do with compacts that have mirrors? I wonder if I can repurpose some with other products? Just an off-hand thought, I remember several companies in the 80s had refillable compacts. Isn't it odd there are very few, if any companies that do this today.
I really enjoyed this video! It was definitely worth the time to watch it. (I usually don't have patience for more than 30 min) lol II have such a hard time finding influencers with similar skin and we seem to agree on many situations. I have combination skin and my skincare and foundation definitely changes with the seasons. I used the NYX Marshmallow Primer all summer and it was great for that time of year. I live in CA and it's still in the 70s, but will soon be cooling down. I'm looking for a nice smoothing primer for the winter. The Marshmallow primer is too thick for cooler weather. I might just apply more moisturizer and that be it. lol As you mentioned, I don't care for gripping primers either. I prefer a smoothing primer.
You looked so lovely❤ 😅 for me watching declutters is dangerous because I always find things I want ti try! I am going to get the Artless Glow Base and Good Molecules sunscreens (I am really dark skinned and usually use chemical sunscreen like SuperGoop but I am curious about these ones!), The Nabla primer, The Doll 10 skin tint (one of nine I want to try😅) I am excited to get! I do use a very little amount of the Juvias Place foundation. A little goes a long way. Wow! Now I have to try the Ulta and Sephora foundations! I really enjoyed this video! 💃🏿 Blushes, bronzers and highlighters next please ❤❤
I feel like you would love the Tower 28 concealer!! And have you tried the Loreal cushion foundation? I don't like the sponge it comes with but the product itself is flawless!
Lisa Eldridge has the most beautiful foundation I have ever used. You can exchange, they make it easy, and they have 6 pan sample cards that are free with purchase. You MUST try her new eye pencils, they are everything you want in an eye pencil. Don’t give up on that foundation!
Great video, Jen! I love declutters, so I'll happily watch whatever is it you choose to declutter next 😊 About the Joah concealer, their new serum concealer is different from their other concealer they discontinued called Truly Yours Dark Circle Concealer. I was so sad when they discontinued it bc it's my holy grail - great shade, doesn't crease, doesn't need to be set. I tried 3 shades of the new serum concealer and none of them worked. They're too yellow and the texture is thinner. Serum concealers just don't work for me - I tried both Flower Beauty and NYX and didn't like either under my eyes (except I love using NYX all over my face like a foundation). I also tried Catrice, but it creased on me and made my under eyes look old! So I'm still on the hunt for a replacement. Think the closest I've found is Covergirl's Simply Ageless. I'm curious about the Kokie and Haus Labs concealers.
I tend to wear the Lauder Futuristic foundation in Winter, but if I’m needing foundation to look great for 12 hours, or I’m in humid, hot weather, it’s Doublewear. Sometimes, I mix a bit of the Futuristic in with it. I don’t need much foundation; I find most influencers use way too much of everything! Less is more. I feel it looks way better as the day goes on if I don’t wear a ton!
