A very good video including a bit of everything a new player might want to know: an overview of the game, where to go to find fellow players, a dip into the WH lore, basic faction and rules overview and more. Well done!
I'm a 40k player since 1987. Never tried Warhammer. I have a 30k army I've been working on but decided to go on hiatus until the 2.0 Horus Heresy rules come out. That said I've picked up the AoS rules and am willing to give them a try for the first time. Thanks for your post. It's all very intimidating right now.
Great video. I used to manage a game store and I had to become an expert at helping new players figure out there introductions to the game. I always started with asking them which army looked prettiest to them. After that I would ask how they liked to play games. i.e., super aggressive, tactically, reactive. After I had them down to an army choice always made them the same deal, come back with the starting box painted and I will give them the army book. When it worked it worked beautifully.
Great video. Thanks! I'm a returning player in Australia who's excited to learn and develop my skills, thanks to great members of the community such as yourself.
My buddy introduced me to warhammer through total war, and I have been living learning about all the rich lore. I recently decided to look into AoS to further delve into the world. I got my total war friend to join me in starting to build up AoS armies, I have been reading the new gen 3 rules pdf, and been reading my armies battletome, I love videos like this to help organize all the details for new comers! Keep it up!
Like your stuff! Just finished a year long Army deployment where I started painting AoS figures almost every night. Painted up tons of WarCry bands and I’m just finishing a full Khorne Army for AoS. A request: How about putting out short, 15 min max, videos about each army, focused on what to look out for if your army is going to face them?
Congrats on what sounds like a successful deployment. A year is massive. Thanks for the request, I’ve toyed with the idea you’ve suggested for a little now… I’m going to test the idea in June but it might need to be something I tackle post AoS 3
Just subbed to your channel man. I’ve been stationed out in Japan for about 5 years now and I’ve really been missing out on the Warhammer community. There’s a miniscule number of Japanese players and I can’t speak Japanese well enough to play with them. It’s been a struggle but getting to watch videos is pretty much the only thing that keeps me looking forward to coming back to the States and playing, so thanks for the great videos!
Search for Stuart Irongutsman on RU-vid... he has a growing AoS channel and from my understanding is an Aussie based in Japan. He might be able to introduce you to more of the community.
I must say, I have been looking at Age of Sigmar for a couple of months now, but have always been intimidated by other videos. This was a very comprehensive and easy to understand introduction with engaging presentation! I am looking forward to getting started and your other introductory videos! Thanks!
Would really appreciate a video from a horde player like yourself going over the horde army play style; it’s unique drawbacks, positives and mechanics. Also why it may not be beginner friendly and also how it’s fundamentally a different experience from playing other army archetypes. Love your content, keep it up 👍
I love total warhammer and once I get settled into my house I was thinking about starting this in my spare time.. would I be able to repaint an army? Because I’d hate to spend 80 bucks and then do a poor job of painting
You can totally repaint an army. There are some good videos on RU-vid about 'stripping' your miniatutes with simple household products. Painting over someone elses paint is fine but you start to lose detail as you add more layers of paint
Glad it helped Ninja. The game has changed a little with 3rd edition Age of Sigmar, so some of it might be out of date... so check out my 3rd edition playlist to help bridge the gap.
Hey AOS Coach! I am in NZ and I finally decided to start an Ossiarch Bonereapers army. I watched this video and now I want the second one in the series. I would suggest that you call the Getting Started with AoS Episode 1 etc. I've watched a few of your vids and I subed as you are a great presenter and make good content
Great video and greetings from the United States. I’m starting with a Greywater Fastness army with string battlines and artillery. My second army will be Fyreslayers. We will what the future holds beyond those. 2 armies, but that is for starters.
Just watch this video and realise you're based in Sydney! That's awesome. Are there still a lot of players in the area since Covid? Thank you for the video!
Very good intro to AoS. Maybe I am being not picky but you left out the Beasts of Chaos, who were in the Mortals Realms long before Sigmar came along. Beware of drawing the attention of the Herds!!
@@AoSCoach I was building a 2000 point army for Warhammer fantasy then they killed it. And made age of Sigmar. I was very angry when they did that. I still have my Skaven army and m6 wood elf army.
Really great stuff here, been working on my first army for about a year now (so many rasps to paint in NH...)! Was curious why you had hesitation about using casino dice to play the game as from the research I've done, they seem to be the most fair, just can be tricky to roll that way, and expensive.
From memory that might have been a joke about casino dice. From my experience they are much higher in cost and the benefits probably don't outweigh the cost if everyone is not using them.
I want to begin an AoS army as a warhammer player but it is so hard to come by some lists I would like too work from - nobody (alt least me) wants to buy 400 dollars of cool models only to find out they are garbage rule wise. I don't want to "net- deck" competitive lists but have them as an inspiration.
There are quite a few faction focuses that Coach has done with some great guests. You can always check some out if there’s a specific faction that appeals to you. That said the rule of cool is real. Chaos Warriors aren’t the best but I love the models so I paint them.
sure but when it comes to things like blades of khorne I would like to play just pure mortal lists because I like the lore behind it and coach has had only some demon khorne players etc.
@@MrUnreal9111 there are plenty of lists for mortal Khorne armies out there. I started with a Start Collecting Daemons box and have seen way more players who run a mortal-focused list. I'm working towards mostly all daemons with a couple mortal leaders for a 1k list.
Hello! One thing I've been trying to figure out for a while now is why do modern Age of Sigmar sets have almost no full command groups in units? Musicians and Standard Bearers. For a completely incomprehensible reason for me, there is rarely a Banner in new sets. And almost never a musical instrument. So hard to add a couple of bits? Most offensively, the fb-fans themselves have never fully appreciated this feature. Very rarely have I seen command groups on the table. Because usually a banner bearer / musician cost aditional 10 points - the price of 2-3 ordinary models.
It's a good question... I'm from the old school like you where I had a Battle Standard Bearer and units had the command group. Plenty of units do have them but many don't. I can't tell you why
Very informative! The only criticism I have that you left out some armies which isn’t great for a beginner video. Would have been better to introduce them all, or if that’s too long, just point them to other videos where that’s done.
Funny I’ve noticed NO one mention objective markers and there literally one of those main things you need to start, sure your can draw them or use paper but even then mentioning you need them would be good if you ever do an update something to think about
@@AoSCoach I maybe stop crying, when you make some special Videos with them to tell us everything in strategy. Maybe with the special guest and mate Joel 😁 You two together could schow us, whats Field Control and what is Screening. Coaching a Tutotial for all the Strategies and what matter to win (with fun) 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Hold on to that question for about 1-2 months… we’re heading into a new edition and I think AoS might borrow some of the 40k changes that were introduced in 9e.
I'll never get why games like warhammer and dnd uses inches. Both games really needs an international version in cm to make them less confusing. Especially dnd
I don't think *ANYBODY* really understands the whole 'good guy/bad guy' thing (from the 'finding your army' section). I'll sum it up: Any army which you play are the 'good guys'... any army which your opponent plays are the 'bad guys'... 😆😆🤣🤣😂😂 There ya go, interactive narrative building in a nutshell!
