Haha, yes (as you know!) I should’ve put that earlier in the video, I just wanted people to be able to see they could stick to a theme should they want to! 100% mix is best though!
I have ordered from Goblin Gaming a number of times before, can confirm they are a pretty decent and reliable stockist. Also a worthwhile note on something that wasn't known when this video came out-- With a few slight modifications (Maybe using spare bits from other termie kits) the new chaplain model with his shield or even the stormbolter would make an excellent stand-in for the Strikemaster with Mace of Absolution and Shield/bolter if you want a cheapish HQ to lead a small force!
Oh what a coincidence. I just preordered lion El'Jonson :D I have over 2k of primaris marines including some BA and Imperial fist characters. I Havent had much interest in continuing my SM army but now I'm thinking I should get some dark angels models. I like the idea of having terminators and speeders in army. Also I really wanted big thematic epic character that could be fun to use aka Lion as a proper fighter character! Also terminators look cooler and more thematic than some of the basic SM units. :)
Agreed, the dark angels have tons going for them it’s brilliant! The lion is awesome both the model and rules wise well worth slipping into your 2k force. What sort of list are you looking at?
Hey I’m new to the hobby and am currently building a dark angels army. I haven’t seen any builds use the Lion and was wondering what the reason for that was?
The lion is a fantastic power house character but not the best for buffing allied units. I still take him. These lists however are designed for starting out, he costs a lot of points and means you wouldn’t have the man power to tackle objectives Etc. A lot of competitive channels don’t use him as he’s not considered meta. If you want it take him! I certainly do!
@@narrativecrusades707 definitly starting with just the Green Wing, going to pick up the Hellblaster squad to get more practice with painting before getting the Combat Patrol.
Awesome video. Would you perhaps do an update to this video now that we have the range refresh? Keen on starting Dark Angels so doing my research first!
Yes mate you can take any combination you like. Just wanted to offer out some thematic options. In our most recent bat rep it shows off a very mixed force. Mixed lists are usually better! What kinda force are you thinking of?
@@narrativecrusades707 Yeah, it still annoys me that the trendy catch phrase these days is "MoVeMeNt WiNs GaMeS" but somehow bikes, universally are trash lol, like really? Idgaf though, I still run bikes, because I play this game to drink beers with the guys, and to have bloody fun, win rates be damned in an ear drum splitting hail of bike motors!
Alot of people defo dont use them right anyway they go charging in with the bikes which are defo meant to be fast shooting support that only commit at the last moment.or clean up side objectives! But I 100% agree I love Ravenwing and bike armies! @@johnhildenbrand2642
Last edition i have so many units but idk about ky list for 10th but i wanted to use my leviathan for a new chapter because i have the DA combat patrol tons of deathwing terminators, the New azrael, DW knight i need to build, outriders, black knights the primaris chaplains on foot and bike and many tac squads, sammael, hell blasters, and a Talonmaster land speeder my friend still has 😂 i dont kbow where is exactly to go but i could go pure ravens
Pure ravens would look epic (not biased of course!) If you’re drowning in a pile of models at least it’s the right chapter!! Do you have a list in mind?
You can discount the Ravenwing a bit if you find the white scars battleforce from Christmas. You get the chaplain on bike 2 squads of outriders and 2 atvs for a decent discount and then you can resell the khan and upgrade sprues for a bit of money back.
Thank you for posting these bits. We want people to have as many options as possible and this only helps! It’s a shame those xmas sets never stay around!
Yeah two of them is a pretty solid and strong start. Two redemptors can’t be sniffed at! I think I should just add two combat controls in each video. What do you think?
Do you think it is worth waiting for the possible refresh of Deathwing early 2024 before getting into the DW terminators? Maybe pick up Dark Angels Combat Patrol till then, for some general purpose units?
Of course! This was written after leviathan released so when I mention sternguard I mean the current ones. So crack on and get killing for the Lion brother!
@@narrativecrusades707 thank you, I'm quite new to collecting Warhammer, and I've chosen Dark angels... have you seen the photo's of the new models coming out! Do you know when they'll be released?
The Green Wing list is incorrect. The chapine needs to be a Primaris Chapline, this will give us an extra 5 points which could go towards something like bolter discipline. Lastly buying 10 intercessors to run 5 seems silly, people should instead buy 5 assualt intercessors from the old starter set or 5 infernus marines from the current. They'll likely cost 1/3 of the intercessor box.
Yeah that’s a good call! The video was done with a view of current kits so new starters don’t in a years time end up hunting down kits and paying over the odds for them! The Chaplin should’ve always been a primaris Chaplin I must’ve left the word out!
I´ve already bought a Deathwing Command Squad, but would you recommend to wait till the codex release and see if there´s going to be new models for DW Knights?
It won’t hurt to wait as using it to upgrade your leviathan terminators to deathwing will looks amazing. Depends on you, we have no guarantees but waiting till next year won’t hurt
@@narrativecrusades707 ok good. I'm a big fan of the Raven Guard. If it is ok with you and doesn't mess up your planned content could you make a video about getting started with Raven Guard 10th edition please?
When doing the raven wing command squad, you are locked into a full 6 man squad, unfortunately. Standard 3 only gives you the characters, and the apothecary can only bring back non characters, so you have to bump it to 6 for it to be useful due to how the point system works now. Unfortunately, you can not do a 4 or 5 man squad without wasting points.
You’re quite correct, if I recall I went with the command squad for points reasons, the black knights are defo the better pick for a smaller game! Yeah losing the ability to take any number of models has effected some people’s units
Incorrect! If you check, by "character", they mean models with the "character" key word (see sammael, azrael, lion). All command squads are completely bereft of the key word "character", and are listed in the "character" list per the data cards. This is comparable to, say, Heavy Intercessors who have the "Battleline" keyword Therefore, what it means is you cant get actual characters resurrected after being sniped by putting an apothecary nearby
There’s different heads like ones with hoods, different storm bolters and assault cannons as another way to swap it up. There’s also various books, wings Etc that can be used to spice them up a bit! It’s small changes but changes the look entirely
That's a pretty good start for an army. I think some scout sniper squads and a couple Gladiator Lancers could get you some good mileage going towards a 2k list. Of course the Lion as well if you were lucky enough to nab him like I was.
Yeah the lion is an awesome choice and the lancer finally being a bit more reliable is a plus. I don’t think you can go too wrong using any of these as a basis or pulling elements from either. What list you looking at / building towards mate ?
@@sklingenberg86 that apothercary is filth with the hellblasters and Az Its just twigged in my head what that combination can bring . The scout squads are no joke this edition either really punchy.
@@narrativecrusades707other than the durability that the apoth brings, what is he doing for the hellblasters? I’m not sure that I want the other CP generating ability to ever trigger
1x DW Command Squad, 1x DW Terminator Squad, 2x DW Knights and either DW Strikemaster or Chaplain in TA or Librarian in TA = Sweet DW 1000points. You can buy the extra parts you need to build Knights for way cheaper than buying 4 boxes. I've built 4 squads for less than the price of 3.
Yeah mate this is solid might be worth slinging on our deathwing video to as it’ll help a few people. The Chaplin removing the knights only weakness is amazing
I’ve played just 5-6 games in 7th edition so I’m basically new to the game. I was thinking if continue again with them or give it a go with the Ultramarines.
I’d always favour the dark angels of course, the ultramarines really aren’t bad though and look great as a whole army with lots of cool character’s. Dealers choice really!
