Would be cool to have a tutorial that helps newcomers identify efficient units from their codex from those that are overcosted for what they do. I find a lot of players that complain about the state of 10th edition just lose at home as they design their lists in outdated or invalid ways.

Issue with this is that meta shift can invalidate the video every 3 months. And efficiency is not always the key, I use psychophages in my nids and they are universally considered to be the second worst model in our dex

Some of my critics think that a unit of terminators and a character would be a better use of the 280 points that I put into two groups of models in my favorite Grey Knights list. I don't think that they understand the whole 3-fold-hold tactic. It should be one of the standard inclusions to consider when constructing competitive lists. I like to fill a Razorback with a 5-man squad of Purgation Marines and a single Brotherhood Techmarine. The 3-fold-hold is the main reason for this, but there are quite a few other synergies involved in this combination of units. Your tutorials are great, by the way. Totally worth the investment as a player. Thanks for posting this one for free.

Glad you brought up interceptors for shoot and scoot after deep strike but hyper crypt actually introduced this with the 3" deep strike strat then either tomb blades or a unit with a chronomancer attached. Great video

I watch other content creators and it is so difficult to understand what they are saying. It looks like a cool course. Good production value and laid out well - but I'm not convinced it's worth the price being asked. Maybe for professionals wanting to up their tourny game, but for the average newcomer (which I've seen them pitch to more often than not), asking them to pay £100 a month for four months is a bit steep. Maybe split the course up? Give the introductory/intermediate lessons for a monthly subscription; say, £4/£5 a month Then have the more advanced lessons a little more expensive as another course. Maybe for graduates of the newcomer course, as well as a beginning point for more proficient players. Then finally have the premium tournament course with advanced tactics and advice for only the die-hard professional players - and charge a professional premium accordingly Just a thought

27:31, Necrons can in Hypercrypt detachment with Chronomancer lead unit. 3" deepstrike strat, shoot, Chronomancer gives unit shoot'n'scoot 5".

When I get paid, I'm running back to get that academy great video. I loved it. I'd love to know what people think about chaos spawn as screening units obviously you can only take them in small numbers but with a few units of them I imagine this is very annoying screen or too expensive?

The core rules state that you can't, because it assumes that you're using a physical objective marker. Most competitive events use circles on the board, so that becomes a non-issue

So battleshock resets in your turn? Is that for the full turn and that’s it or do they switch back again in opponents turn again? Thought once battleshocked you had to keep rolling to see if they got out of battle shock

My #1 advice is don't field fluffy armies with overcosted units. Pay attention to the meta. Many people who are frustrated with the game plays units that were either nerfed to oblivion or are just straight up trash tier. Limit yourself to 1 pet unit at most.

Shortly after 27:40 you guys were talking about how there's nothing that can 3" deep strike and then shoot and scoot. I think hyperphase necrons with a chronomancer are capable of this unless it's been FAQ'd, it's a nightmare to play against.

This is all in the Leviathan Tournament Companion document! "Players now set up objective markers on the battlefield. Each Deployment card’s deployment map will show players how many objective markers to set up and where each should be placed. In Leviathan Tournament Missions, models can end any type of move on top of an objective marker."

Can you consolidate on an objective if you are already on the objective? As you are already in range of the objective. Can you just move freely.

You still need to take control normally. The ability lets them retain control but doesn't help with taking it in the first place

Holding objectives are why i run 2 norn emissaries. I can screen out the objectives with gargoyles until my norns hold them for a few turns before dying.

My main problem with holding primaries is that terminator units die too fast this edition . DW knights have too small squads and aren't that much more resilient then a unit of regular thunder hammer terminators , especialy not at the extra points. I thought about supporting them with a contemptor or regular dreadnoughts, but then it is 400pts siting on an objective not doing much.

At 8:33 isn’t that explanation wrong about your “intercessors cant be shot because they cant be seen”. They are Inside that terrain piece Not behind it so they can be seen and Shot but do gain cover right?

If inside a ruin then normal line of sight rules apply. This means that they can't be shot from that angle since the wall is blocking line of sight. If the opponent can see them despite the wall, then yes, they can be shot

In the Core rules it says under the ruins section “Models can see into terrain feature normally, and models wholly within this terrain feature can see out of it normally” 🤷‍♂️ my lgs play it if your wholly in the ruin you can shoot and be shot but gain cover but if your behind the footprint of the ruin you can’t be seen. Now wondering what’s correct 🤔

Great question! Seeing into terrain normally will mean that if you can draw true line of sight to a model, you can see it! So if there are windows, you can see the unit inside, but if there are no windows and your model cannot draw line of sight to the enemy model, then you cannot shoot them. This is all covered in visibility in the core rules. We hope that helps!

They can be shot using the normal visibility rules. The issue with this example is they don't show the walls of the terrain. That ruin he used does not have any open windows or doors, it is a solid wall. Therefore you can't see the model even though it is inside the terrain, and it cannot be shot. Note that this also means they can't shoot out since that unit cannot see anything either. This is very powerful for indirect fire weapons that don't need line of sight to shoot and want the full protection against ranged attacks.

I'd like to point out that saying you "intent" doesn't mean that you can actually perform said action. If you "intend" to do something, but dont have the movement distance or ability to actually do it then.. it isnt done. So... don't go round saying "i intend for this to be the case" and expect your opponents to agree. I've seen this a lot from players, particularly lately, and it isn't legit. If you can do it, cool. If you can't, well... you can't, intentions or no.

Declaring your intent is super important incase things get nudged or moved as the game progresses. Intending to do something that you can't do is just blatant cheating and not something that we encourage.

I don’t think that is outdated, the fight phase hadn’t ended so the sticky would still be active if fight on death was able to remove all models with OC

The enemy needs to control it at the start or end of any turn to take an objective that's stickied by intercessors

It's goot some great pointers but some of the rulings they talk about are tournament changed rules. Ruins only block line of sight if the units are outside of a ruin in bewteen. And standing on the objectives is not allowed in the normal rules. And placig a 40mm "exactly" on the objective is mathematically true, but also impossible in terms of human accuracy. Intention and actual placement are not the same. Don't assume you are allowed to do this. it's a grey area.

Hi there mate, so the ruling for standing on objective markers has changed as per the FAQ in the Leviathan Tournament Companion document! "Players now set up objective markers on the battlefield. Each Deployment card’s deployment map will show players how many objective markers to set up and where each should be placed. In Leviathan Tournament Missions, models can end any type of move on top of an objective marker." and you are right there dude about ruins, most events also play bottom floor blocks line of sight aswell so there are various ways to avoid being in line of sight through ruins. There have been updates to that, and tournaments don't follow it according to my understanding. They even mention this at the start near the end of 3 minute marker.

Honestly even in casual games I don't know anyone who follows this rule. It was meant to prevent players from obscuring the marker and making it difficult to measure. In some rare cases you might be able to park a vehicle like a baneblade on top of it and make it totally impossible to stand on. Most players would rather be able to stand on the point and not have to worry about it. It's not a huge problem because you are either playing casually and not being so precise, or you're using an objective mat anyways and always know its radius.

Lovely little video, but warhammer advice should be free. Now this thing about "intent" It may well be a players intent, but if they don't have the movement for it, that intent doesn't matter. Way too many players will stretch the ruler to move just that fraction further, or move models then jiggle them about on the spot a bit more. A little bit of handwavium, yeah about there, but my intent is.... Or move through models that have already moved. Sloppy play basically. So intent is all well and good when it's two clean playing opponents.

I agree about intent, it has to be possible. But why should Warhammer advice be free? In order to create this course we meticulously planned 176 videos, edited them and uploaded, created downloads and homework tasks for most. 100s of hours have gone into the making of it. We have a community where we deliver 3-5 live sessions a week. Without charging something for the course. The course wouldn’t exist. I feel more than comfortable charging for the quality of this course and the value it can bring to those students that go through the course and the feedback and testimonials from students backs that up.

@@dannyhalas9408 winning isn’t a barometer for success in my books. If that’s yours then by all means go for it. What makes me qualified to coach? I’m not entirely sure their isn’t an official coaching qualification for Warhammer, maybe I’ll make one, but our customers and students tell us we do a great job and that means the most to us. I will say this, your comments toward myself and the community are rude, judgemental and gate keeping. Does it matter if I make a living and my team within the hobby space? We work tirelessly to provide value to our customers. If you your anger towards us is based on that you want to become a content creator and lashing out is your coping mechanism then I urge you to give it a go. Do what makes you happy. I had no idea and still don’t if VT will be successful but I love the process.
