Can you do a video on scanning for the 67?
@theoldcameraguy
@theoldcameraguy 3 года назад
I may do that in early 2021. My workflow is pretty simple. I’ve got an Epson V550 and I just use the stock film holders, which can really only fit 2 frames of 6x7 format. So I cut the negs into 5 strips of 2. I use a microfiber cloth to clean my scanner glass and a Rocket blower to blow off as much dust as I can off the negs. I use the stock Epson Scan 2 software and typically scan at 2400 dpi. Post is mainly just cleaning up dust and sometimes adjusting contrast and levels with Photoshop Elements. Nothing too crazy, but it works for me.

@theoldcameraguy 3 года назад

@randallstewart1224
@randallstewart1224 Год назад
The Koni Omega Rapid is a little known but excellent alternative to a Mamiya 7. Although implemented somewhat differently between those cameras, they have many of the same features. The Rapid M versions of the Koni add mid-roll interchangeable film magazine capacity in addition. The lens range is similar and optical quality is superb for both, but the Koni lacks an equivalent to the 43mm on the Mamiya. The build quality and durability of the Koni is much superior to the Mamiya, but the Mamiya package is much lighter weight. At going rates, the Mamiya body and lenses cost about ten times as much as a Koni.

Brilliant. Looks heavy but I love heavy it makes you more stable. Cant wait to see more of the results. BTW what is the equivalent in 35mm to the lens? Something like 60 or 90? A.,
@theoldcameraguy
@theoldcameraguy 3 года назад
It is 50 something equivalent. On 67 format, the rough estimation is dividing the focal length by 2 to get 35mm equivalent. Dividing by 2ish also gives a pretty good idea on bokeh/depth of field effects too. The depth of field on this 2.4 lens wide open looks somewhat like an f1.2 lens on a 35mm rig.

High 3 figures. Shade under $600 for the body, TTL metered prism, grip and strap. A little under $400 for the lens. Might sell the grip as I don’t find it very useful for right handed people like myself. These kits usually go for more, but I waited it out on eBay to score some pretty good prices.

@randallstewart175
@randallstewart175 3 года назад
I wish that sometime, someone who actually knows something about the 105mm and has had serious experience with it would report in an objective way what they prefer about it. Of the several lenses which might be considered normal for the 67 system, it is the oldest (55 years old) and has never been updated like many others. It's "high speed aperture" is less than a 1/2 stop faster than the optically superior 90mm 2.8. "But it's famous". Before YT made it "famous", you could buy dozens of them for less than $250, often less than $200, so his price of $400 now is hardly a bargain. "But it has magical bokeh!" Blurry is just blurry, sweetheart. "But I like it." I think what that means is, "I like to look like a hipster." So why did Pentax introduce the original Pentax 6x7 with this 105mm 2.4 lens? It was the 1960s. Lens speed sold bodies, and for a long time this was the fastest MF lens on the market. And Pentax never let you forget it. Did anyone need it? No more or less than they needed a 80mm 2.0 lens for the Hasselblad 15 years later. In both cases, the slower lenses were the optically superior.
@theoldcameraguy
@theoldcameraguy 3 года назад
Speaking of slower lenses, I just picked up a 55mm f4 lens to add to my kit. The 105 and 55 should cover most of my needs pretty well.
@randallstewart175
@randallstewart175 3 года назад
@@theoldcameraguy The last two versions of the 55mm 4.0 are perhaps on par with the best lenses for the system. Although I have nearly all of the Pentax lenses, I find that I cover 95% of my usage with the 55mm, 75mm, 90mm and 135mm.
