Solid video with amazing advice. Breaking down the steps is what it's all about! I'd like to take a moment and credit the editors on this video. I've been noticing quality increase in the camera work and the final editing. You can really tell the team is making great advancements. They may not hear it often from us students, just know that we appreciate you!
Please do more on this subject! Mine gets in just fine & calm but as soon as we start driving he freaks out panting and barking. He won’t even take treats 😢. I’m at a loss bc we have to travel for work and need to take him with us. He didn’t start this until he went through puberty. Before he was totally fine in the car.
Have a similar issue. My doberman loves car rides and actually is happily getting into the car. But the moment we start driving she is whining and extremely restless.
Excellent video, thank you! I have 4 dogs, 2 of them love the car and 2 really don't like it. With this video I'm confident that car rides won't be a struggle in the near future. On a side note, Lucy is one of the most gorgeous dogs I've ever seen.
oh, I really needed this! My 1/2 year old goldendoodle (assistance dog in training) his biggest fear is the car. That's a really big problem, because he often has to come along. I got him 3 times into the car by himself. But he doesn't want to take any more treats there. He is too scared... Love from the Netherlands 🐾
My dog was in my cargo area and I was rear ended by a tractor trailer truck. I was at a complete stop. The window shattered and my dog dove to the front, he wasn’t physically harmed but it’s impossible to get him in the car since then. He is a wreck. He was a shy dog to begin with. I tried a calming spray which made it worse.
Thank you!!! Will try this! This is our issue - she is truly motion sick in addition to the anxiety. The vet gave us Cerenia to try to help but we haven’t tried it yet because lol - my dog trained me to hate car rides. 😂 Now I associate car rides with lots of puke and drool and drool and puke - obviously we always have a dog hammock or other protective covering, we have so many travel crates and different solutions - she does best when my partner drives and I sit in the back seat holding her - all 45 pounds of sick dog. 🤦🏻♀️
Any suggestions motion, sickness medication for dogs?? I think that is why my dog hates the car. He even tends to throw up at times during the car ride.
My dog is ok once in the crate but has gotten harder to get in the crate. Oddly he is now obsessive about not missing even one car ride going back to when he flat refused to get in the crate so I left him home. I think having him on the seat next to me versus in the back of the van may help to keep cooler air on him. I need a bigger kennel in the van to lure him with comfort food and a few chew toys. Honestly the crate is a bit cramping.
Hi , I have a puppy , belgian malinois 93% mix German shepherd 7% = MOTHER : GSD MIX BELGIAN MALINOIS , FATHER : BELGIAN MALINOIS PURE BREED . THE QUESTION IS : How can I let the fleas don’t attack my dog cuz the vet put the spot on on my puppy and idk if she knows if she put the spot on and the fleas are on the puppy , the fleas will stay . By the way, I have all the information about animals + 47% about the vet but idk how can I train a dog , and thank u 😊
My dog is terrified. if he does get in and we go somewhere, he jumps in the car on the way home no problem. he does not eat anything when he i going out and when he does geetin he car he squeezes his had between my head rest and the size of the door so he is touching me. i feel so bad for him. I Think he has had a bad experience i would love him to get in so we could go out more. He is such a good boy. and I hate seeing him scared. but the time has come where I need to try and teach him properly. So I'm gonna try some of your steps.
Help me! My young girl will get in the car, but she is anxious or fearful. (Tail tucked and shaking sometimes). Once in no panting or wimpering. She can settle, but not sleep. Sometimes eyes are not soft and she looks worried. I want to help her have a more positive association with cars.
You know what worked for me without even realizing it? Going to my mom and dads house with him a couple times lol now I can’t pry him out if the garage cuz he wants to get in the car and go see them 😂
I changed this within two car journeys with a dog by giving them a Kong to focus on instead. Was with a bit of frozen peanut butter, but you could stuff with their regular food.
Our Beautiful Pup is NOT treat or food motivated at all. She is praise and love motivated. Some days we have troubles getting into the vehicle the first time only. Then it is always her choice to get in thereafter. What is your suggestion to always have it her choice the First time?
Looking at rescuing an almost two year old bull terrier that is 1.5 hour trip away. Any tips on what to look out for and how make it a safe, happy and successful trip?
