Hi Josh, how would you differentiate between "just looking" vs "brain leaving". My horse is hyper vigilant and will crane his head and stare, but he keeps his feet steady. In these moments should I apply a bit of pressure to bring the thoughts back? Or because he's generally being respectful and isn't dancing around, should I allow the fixate and stare?
@JoshNicholAHorsemansPursuit
Most of the time in these moments I would simply stand calmly and wait making sure I am giving the feeling of a safe place. You need to have the ability to bring their mind back but first make sure you have a calm centre for them to feel when they arrive! What I find most people do is over ask the horse to come back and this can create an arguement. Find a balance between allowing them to look, feeling you calm and sometime asking them back!
