I set up a LLC and when doing the steps I entered it as my name and also my DBA. Was confused for some reason so after you do all this from my understanding any changes after be made with a form and DL pic. It’s all simple but it isn’t. My biggest reason is to heads up that the second you file this your phone will blow up like never before. They all claim they are with FMCSA and this and that. I called FMCSA and those are service providers (not exactly scammers but you don’t need them for all they are trying to sign you up for). My advice and this is just mine but give it a hour and CALL FMCSA and make sure your application is fine. If I hadn’t I wouldn’t had caught that error in mine. I wouldn’t had known about a problem until God knows when.

To address a possible error in the video. At 8:14, a non-CMV is defined as “…any motor vehicle that is solely designated by its manufacturer to carry no more than one ton of cargo.”. Therefore shouldn’t the count be 0 for semi truck applicants? Thank you for posting this video. It was a great help!

If you will be working for the PORTS you will always need an MC number.I was told that info and I called CHP and they confirmed. The containers come from all over the world and all over the States so you need an MC. You will need a Interstate authority. A intrastate authority will not be enough for you to work for the ports.

Really you are so much help full for new comers like me.. I have a question, I am going to start with box truck but yet I didn't buy it but I'm gonna apply mc dot with help of this video, question is should I have to click on general fright and other things which comes fit in box truck. Second ❓ is what to do right now while applying mc dot because I have in my plan to add another truck which will be reefer in my business after few months of startup. Should I mention now in filling mc dot or update that later on when reefer come into my fleet. 3rd question is I have SSN and EIN number, what I have to put in applying mc dot. FMCSA changed the dismissals recently...if the authority is not active by the end of 90 days then the application is permanently dismissed and must be reapplied for, they have done away with un-dismissals as of 08/01/2023.

Can you talk on registered agents and what that process looks like? I have a moving company and looking at doing out of state, you mentioned the registered agents and that was the only piece I am unsure of

In a previous video for the insurance you stated that we should get a dot number and sit on it to age because insurance company's will not insure a new business with a new Dot number. When the 90 days is up i need to show insurance coverage or my dot number will be cancelled and i will have to pay again. With that being said my Dot number will not be good or deleted due to not having insurance coverage or an agent.

And what’s a good price on the insurance to pay I don’t want to get screwed over feel me ?
