The Gewehr 98 is to this day(and in my opinion) one of the most beautifull guns in history, i dont know, this Old look just gets me going. Its like Revolvers, i prefer a wooden Grip over this modern rubber crap , just looks better. Much love my dude, you just earned a sub
This is actually a very interesting take, I'm curious how you'll do if you reverse the order and start with the Kar 98 and then end with the Gewehr 98. There's a slight chance that your stance conformed to the Gewehr 98 for the most part and it didn't translate to the Kar 98 as much? I can imagine the Gewehr 98 being a bit more heavier and even front heavy which would affect follow up shots and your performance with the 98K. Also also, I think I saw less recoil from the Gewehr 98 comparatively to the 98K, its legitimately a fascinating take looking at these back to back.
Oh the Kar98k has significantly more recoil, I’m using the same ammo in both but the added weight from the longer Gew98 barrel compensates for quite a bit of the recoil. I do intend on switching the order when I do part 2 👍🏻
Great video Thomas. I actually just purchased a Gewehr 98 this past week for $500. I noticed you have a sling for your K98 but not one on your Gewehr 98.
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry The floor plate is not matching and the interior of the barrel has quite a bit of pitting, but the rifle is in pretty good shape. The rifle is also dated 1915, giving me a little more sentimental attachment as that was the year of birth of my late grandmother.
You should have delayed opening the action for 30 seconds after the misfire. You could have had a dangerous hangfire go off as you opened the action. Keep the rifle aimed at the target or ground during that time.
btw the Kar98k was designed for humans to use, so you dont actually have to manually take it out and can just push the bolt forward, i can see why you manually do it though so you don't lose it.
