With the help of my Palir Imperial and a couple of JTM45 models (Axe-FXIII) I take this stellar reverb through its paces. It's one of the best reverb pedals (probably THE best), big or small, that I've tried over the years. A stunner. Congratulations, Henry. I hope you sell a ton of them. You deserve to!
Today's tools:
Guitar: 2016 Palir Imperial "Blue Note" with Porter (not Lollar as I mistakenly say in the video ... sorry, Brian!) Jazzmaster Pickups and Mastery hardware.
Amp: 2 x JTM45 and 4 x 12 GB cab models - Axe-FX III
Extra effects: -
Cables: Goodwood Audio
Power Supply: Strymon Zuma
Mic: Samson Airline77 (me)
Camera: Canon 60D (me) and Nikon D5100 (pedals)
Soundcard: PreSonus Quantum & Fractal Audio Systems Axe-FX III (guitar, mixing and bouncing).
Computer: Apple iMac 27" i7 3.4 GHz 16 GB RAM
Software: Logic Pro X, Waves Plugins, Apple Final Cut Pro X (video editing and RU-vid compression).

Got one after seeing this review by Brett. Henry was great but it does take a while to get it as it comes from Indonesia. No doubt, the best reverb pedal I have ever heard or used. Thank you for reviewing it!

It was only a matter of time, before someone gave Strymon a somewhat-Worthy competitor. I own the Big Sky and it Ain't Going Nowhere, but this - I must say: Sounds Incredible. GFI is officially on the map. Great Demo Brett. You are : A Total Pro. Love your channel.

I'm blown away by this verb. I've been looking for a stereo verb to the end of my pedal board chain where it expands into stereo from a different pedal. I just bought one of these.

I have no doubt the stunning clean sound of the guitar helped the sound of the pedal. Both are outstanding, your playing ain't bad either!

The algorithms are so lush and gorgeous! And there are a lot of sounds I would definitely use. Simply ace!

nice device, but the bigsky can do this and ten times more, to be realistic. Don't know about the price, though. Price apart, cannot compare to the big strymon. The delay mode is interesting and missing on strymon also. I have owned empress reverb, and still own Strymon and neunaber, unbeatable for what they can do although quite pricey. Brett thanks as usual for your wonderful work here, I love your reviews . Number one for me !

Sounds so damn good... They just need to add Midi for preset switching and V4 will become a bestseller in no time. Awesome playing btw!

Your an incredible player. Just incredible. I had the blue sky and loved it for a long time but I've been wanting something new and this is gonna be it. You say ten outa ten I know it's wonderful and aside from everything sounding good that you play the reverb itself sounds beautiful. It's an inspiration pedal and that's what I am always looking for. Can you give me a recommendation for a nice overdrive. I have a king of tone v4 that I love but maybe something with a different flavor but the same idea. "Transparent" if that's even a thing. What are you loving to use right now?

Still using my RV-7 Digitech Hardwire. Have tried many other pedals including Bluesky. I found that simple was better for Reverb as long as it sounds good and the Lexicon sound get sit done. I really want a new reverb pedal because I am tied of looking at the RV-7 but it still sounds delicious.

Gorgeous pedal, excellent demo! Just one question: are those Lollar Jazzmaster pickups hum-cancelling, or have you just mastered getting noise-free in your studio there?

Brett question for you since have demoed the Specular V3 and Specular Tempus. GFI claims the reverbs in the Tempus are the same as the V3. You just have more options including delay. But every video I listen including yours the V3 sounds better. The added features of the Tempus would be nice. But not at the exspence of reverb quality. What's your opinion of the two compared to each other strictly based on the reverb it self.

Sadly, Glen, I had to sell the Specular Reverb to pay some bills (usual story!) But I'm told that the algorithms are the same so there shouldn't be a difference. I'll have to defer your very valid point/question to GFI themselves if they're reading. Perhaps the converters or some other element of the pedals are different..?

I have to agree. I’ve listened to both of your demos of Tempus and this - this is much fuller. Can’t recall what you were playing through on the Tempus demo but maybe it has something to do with the AxeFX III? ::::::(EDIT: you used the AxeFX as well)

Great reverb, however I wonder about having to flip through the presets on the fly during a gig, to find the verb you want. Suggestions? Thoughts on using this unit for acoustic? Thank you

Is there much difference between this and the tempus ? Both are excellent reverbs.

DreamRubycon The Specular Tempus has all of the reverbs from the Specular Reverbs. It has much more control over additional parameters, 32 presets, more reverb types, as well as full featured delays, and a mixture of reverberated-delays / delayed reverbs. It’s the full feature package and unless money is tight, learning is limited, and needs are basic, it’s the way to go. Had two Specular Reverb v2 pedals and sold them both. Now have two Specular Tempus units.

Get the Tempus. For the extra £80 or so, it makes so much sense, particularly with the midi access, editor etc, as ElephantTusks has said. I also had the Specular reverb V2 and have the Wavelogic II. Both are right up there with the best in my opinion and cheaper than most high end units.

These GFI pedals seem (to me) to be desktop oriented pedals, which to me, is a "fish out of water" feel for *one* main reason: changing or navigating the presets is a ridiculous pain in the backside for live use. We need an expression pedal input, yes, but pressing TWO buttons to go to the next bank? Ludicrous. You *must* nail hitting *both* switches at the *exact* same time (hopefully with equal pressure) to do this simple "go up to the next bank please" function. DEAL. BREAKER. I bought a Specular Tempus with the additional 3-button control switch & sold it within 2 months. Damn. That, too, is a "desktop pedal". Having to remove it from my board to tweak/deep edit it was incredibly inconvenient & not practical at all. Really like some of the GFI sounds but for me, just watching their product line to see what the next incarnation will be & crossing my fingers that it will be more "live use" friendly.

Wish someone would make a video showing: A: simply scrolling through the standard 8 presets the unit is shipped with stock B: how to *USE* the select switch & actually program the 8 presets, store them in the 2 banks of 4, then recall them.

It's not difficult. Read the manual and have a go with the pedal. I'm a moron and I figured it out.
