This demo video of GFI System Specular Reverb 2 highlights the sound versatility and capabilities of the pedal. Setup : Guitar -- Specular Reverb 2 -- Audio Interface.
Have to say GFI are a very helpful company. Wrote some questions and got answers back immediately. Just wanted to post a thank you and say that such customer attention is very rare these days. Thank you!
its really just unreal how good it is. whenever I've brought it to any studio, all the engineers ears perk up. I almost want to buy a backup incase anything ever happened to the one I got
@@jscordoba3 buy a back-up! I have been robbed three times ... God more than replaced everything over time, but if I could afford the duplicate, no time like the present if it is an intrinsic part of your sound. God bless you and keep you safe and healthy and happy 😊 🎵🎶❗️ Happy 2021...
When something sounds as jaw-dropping as this in a 480p video, you know you should pay extra attention. I'm almost speechless. And I've played with more effects and reverbs that I can remember right now. The only reverb approaching this that comes to mind is Eventide's algorithms, especially Black Hole and Shimmer - in a pedal form, in Space and H9 (I've had the Space in the past). But (a) they are much more expensive than this - more than 2x the price, (b) you might very easily get lost in the gazillion controls that they have, while this is just very simple and pre-dialed to sound gorgeous. A big, big thumbs up. You won a customer!
This pedal is freakin amazing! Can't wait to try one out :) I'm loving the reverb options that are coming out these days, each pedal is more amazing than the last. This pedal looks like it could take on Strymon!
These pedals..reverb/ delay pedals are the only pedals that I have ever seen or heard that would give my Strymon pedals competition...but these are priced less, which could be a winner in a guitar players wallet.I'm impressed!
This pedal sounds incredible. I've seen a few comments here about the people at this company being nice people and that's exactly the type of people I want my money going to. I'll definitely pick up one of these pedals eventually. Thanks for the great demo video!
Ahhhhhhhhhhh Broke down and ordered one from GFI Systems tonight. I cant wait to loop this pedal through my mesa boogie. 5-7 days wont get here soon enough.
Bought this about a year and a half ago. I have loved it ever since. However, there was always that itch to hear the Strymon Blue Sky. Just tried a Blue Sky at the local Ken Stanton. The Specular blows the Blue Sky out of the water!!!! By a long shot! I know a lot of people want the The Blue Sky for the shimmer, but shimmer is lacking compared to the Specular. The Blue Sky seemed too complicated to dial into a good sound, the Specular sounds good all the time. I play worship music about 90% of the time and the Specular is a must. Congregants and the musicians I play with always ask me "How do you get that sound?" Easy - THE SPECULAR! Even when I play the devil's music ;) in a cover band I use it, and get the same question. On my pedal board the Specular is as important as my overdrives. That's my two cents worth.
This pedal is amazing! I get the same sound as shown in this demo. Its not been polished in some studio to make it sound better, it realy sounds like this.
Nice demo! I've saw another demo from rig rig rig and yeah this a versatile reverb pedal. This pedal very suitable for Psychedelia or Post-Rock Music, because you can experiment with amazing flexible reverb!
Cole Lewis We were using a Carvin electric guitar with Neck+Middle pickups activated, which gives a fairly acoustic-like sound. An acoustic guitar was used only for the Echo mode at 6.10.
Beautiful reverb pedal and great demo. Definitely keeping an eye on this. I cant believe its still so relatively unknown. Sounds better then some much more popular and expensive pedals.
It's the best reverb pedal I've ever owned , and I own the bigsky.....this is much more full longer lasting trails. Just an all around beautiful pedal.
I have the Big Sky and I can easily see where this would add another dimension to the board. Would love to run a synth through this as well as guitar. I hope they are available in Japan soon. Would love to play one. Bigsky may get bumped to the synth board and have this on guitar.
Very nice. But since buying a Moore Ocean Machine, all my other reverb/delay/loopers have taken a back seat. It does everything except fly around the room. 🤷🏼♂️
It is like you took what was in my head and created the perfect reverb pedal. Best Shimmer I have heard, doesn't sound cheap, but lush and pleasing. When is the next batch coming out? Can i preorder. 100% better than the bigsky.
Clay Jenkins Hi Clay, thanks for the compliments! Yes you can pre-order, the pedal should be ready in 7-10 days. Alternatively you can leave your email address and I'll notify you as soon as it becomes available.

My Spec Rev is a beautiful thing but I can't, for the life of me, work out the Infinity mode. It seems quite random. Even the demo shows the switch on S for infinity (in the Red mode) but the manual says it should be on I. Whatever I try, I can't seem to get it to work consistently. Leaving Damping and Intensity at 12 o'clock certainly doesn't do it for me. Sometimes it works when Intensity is at 9 o'clock and Intensity will work when it catches but it is very rare. A faulty unit perhaps? The Blend also has almost no effect (completely off) at 11 o'clock. Bit disappointed..
I doubt the pedal is faulty, if it was then the function wouldn't work at all. Only a very brief period of sound is captured when you release the switch, you need to time it correctly, if you release the switch when the sound level was actually low then it may seem that it didnt work.
Thanks for your quick reply. Most appreciated and respect to you. I think I have mastered it. I have pull the switch off "I" and back on to it and then it works for sure. Enjoying it totally now. I still might upgrade to the Tempus and Triple Switch. Seems great for control and minimising the pedal board (and amazing sound.) A quick question... in the Tempus, if a preset is selected one can easily footswitch on and off the reverb or delay parts independently? And the Tempus contains all of the Clockwork delay magic and more? Cheers again.
Has the Specular Reverb 2 a new logo whit white knobs? In Brazil, I don't found the pedal like this of the video. And in the site of GFI there isn't images or information about the new logo. Can you help me?
No we have not shipped any pedals with the new logo to Brazil up to now. We will be updating the pictures and photos on the website with the logo very soon.
Robert Longley The knob labelled 'Intensity' functions as pre-delay control in the Normal Reverb mode. This pre-delay function was newly added (about a month after this video was released)
Amazing! In the ifinity mode can you stop the backround sound completely and the press the button again to get a new backround sound whenever you want? Or you only can get a new backround sound in order to stop the previous one?
You can either stop the background sound or you can immediately get a new one, whenever you want. The procedure to stop the sound or to start a new one is exactly the same. To stop the current background sound simply start a new sound with you not playing anything, so the recorded sound is the 'silent' sound.
If you connected only the left output will you get full stereo sound on your amp? Otherwise, will an insert cable with two mono jacks(left-right-connected to the pedal) and one stereo jack(connected to the amp) work in getting both left and right signal into one amplifier?
By definition you won't get stereo sound with only one amp, you really need two (or one amp with two outputs going to two speaker cabinets). But If your amp has stereo input, then yes you can use that insert cable (Y-cable) to get the full stereo outputs to your amp.
Thank you for your immidiate reply! What i meant is how to have both left and right output sound(not to loose the frequencies played only left or only right) in a mono amp device.
It's not possible to have both left and right output sound into a mono amp device. But it's not something to worry about, taking only one output doesn't mean you are losing frequencies or anything.
Hi Corey, the pedal will be back in stock in the 1st half of August. Currently we don't have a dealer in England but you can place an order from our webstore.
Dear GFI, beautiful pedal. Just bought V2. Can you please tell us how you record your demos (which mics, amp, preamp?) Great sound from the pedal but the recording is also superb. Would love to capture the Sr like you do. Pray tell ☺️
Hello, all the audio in this demo were recorded straight to an audio interface, no miking involved. It was Guitar (Cavin Bolt+ model, mostly neck + middle pickup in parallel configuration), into Specular Reverb V2, into audio interface.
