Recent female comebacks like Red Velvet, Twice, Sunmi, Hwasa, Chungha and now Gfriend everyone is trying new things and showing variation in their music which is amazing. They are not stuck to one type of music style, this groups and solos are showing their versatility. I hope more groups and solos can experiment and try something new.

I’m so excited to see the new GFRIEND sound as they come into the BigHit family! There’s so many references to blood, sweat, and tears and it’s all about the temptation from the story of Garden if Eden! If you know how TXT, BTS, and GFRIEND universes are all connected, the crystal beads relate to their magical powers and get corrupted as they use them. The butterflies the time traveling, the burning tree, magic island! Ahhh there’s so much to explain about the Bighit Universe!! I am not a GFRIEND fan but this was definitely something different from their previous comebacks. One thing I'd like to point out that there might be a slight possibility of BigHit Multiverse theory in this mv. In their storyline the girls are born on magic island and they acquired some powers using Glass Beads. This same island is alluded in TXT and BTS universe as well. They are six witches who are struggling to find balance in their powers by suppressing their "black witch" side and by overcoming envy in their friendship due to this.
I just found out Hermann Hesse wrote two books : Demian (which inspired BTS' Blood, Sweat and Tears concept) and The Glass Bead Game (which this GFriend concept of Tale of Glass Beads is inspired)
Always enjoyed Gfriend but I wouldn't call myself a Buddy at all. I clicked on this like I check out pretty much every comeback in female kpop. I got fucking slapped, goddamn that's good, easily my favorite song from them. They used to be my reference for "young innocent" concept but that new style is mind blowing. Umji being all sexy and shit, amazing, please more of that.

Just my opinion, i think bighit acquiring Source music was really beneficial on both sides, gfriend is a very talented group so BH IS LUCKY TO HAVE GFRIEND, but the reason Gfriend was underrated(for my opinion) especially on international scene is because their music wasn't diverse before, like their songs are almost have the same style. And bighit could really help them in the production so yeah, i hope the world would also pay Attention to these girls because they're too good, they deserve it! Fighting Gfriend
From what i know gfriend had this specific storyline ever since their debut, it is especially seen in fingertip video and its complicated lmao. I just think that they partnered with bighit right on time. Just when their story was coming to the explosion. I also think the we woo sounds in the chorus are really reminiscent of like "withcy" stuff? Idk how to explain but yeah
When I watched the Apple MV, I get the feeling of watching beowulf. IDK why. Maybe its because of the scenery and that old rustic castle and that gold room. They also look like forest nymphs dancing (which are totally seductive) and the there's that ending. It looks like they're offering something to the dark lord (like they're witches- which makes sense since the lyrics mentioned 'witching hours'). So they basically gave me a greek mythology kind of vibe and also a bit biblical (the apple- temptation) and definitely witches Sabbath.

To understand what you are seeing in the MV you have to know and understand Gfriend's lore from their past MV's. That was a glass bead turning red in their hands. The glass bead is central to Gfriend's lore. Their debut song was Glass Bead. According to the fairy tale booklet included with Gfriend's Labyrinth mini album, each of the girls was born with a glass bead. My current theory is the glass beads represent their souls. In the beginning of the Crossroads MV you can see that Eunha's glass bead has partially turned black. That is explained in part two of the fairy tale booklet that comes with the Song of the Sirens mini album. Buy the album to find out the details. 😁 Source Music has always stressed that Gfriend's MV's are focused on a story. And with the Labyrinth mini album it was confirmed that all the stories from all the MV's are part of the same story. So you really have to know the lore behind Gfriend's MV's to understand some of the scenes that you see in Apple.
The central theme of Apple is the choice between eating the apple or burning the tree. You see that represented in the black and white outfits. They are supposed to be white witches and black witches. The black witches ate the apple and the white witches burned the apple tree. All this makes sense as part of the story portrayed in the fairy tale booklet included with their Labyrinth and Song of the Sirens mini albums. Buy the albums to read the story. It is actually an interesting story. I think it would make a good Disney movie.
The scene with the bushes and white walls is an indoor set. Almost the entire MV was shot on set. I think the only part that was not an indoor set was the burning apple tree.
We o wow wow wow and ya ya ya these sounds are specifically ....produced because of sirens.....everyone once listen how sirens sound is ....it has that tempting attracting sound similiar to we wo wow wow or yaya a lit bit but in slow version.....they have to include this sound because of the concept....and done a pretty good job

Kpop is getting more complicated indeed you're right. At this point, I don't even care about theories anymore tbh, even with my favorite groups, I just watch, enjoy the song and the MV and that's it. I'm done trying to understand every group's theories, lol, I'm not Einstein I'm just here to enjoy songs not give more homework to my brain.
I totally agree with you. Unpopular opinion but these Theories are super annoying and unnecessary😂 I mean if you listen to the song you’re not watching 24/7 the MV so you won’t think of the Theorie. And I kinda have the feeling that some Groups are forcing themselves to have this to be "so special and different"
@@Zz-tc6gf exactly, you got it. Some theories in kpop look too forced imo. If they do that for success then they are so wrong, it's not necessary. Look at Gangnam Style, Love Scenario, Boy with Luv, Dududu, fancy, Shine and so many more. The simpler, the better. If it's a good, logic and well built theory then OK, but theory just for theory is a no for me. I didn't even bother understanding the theory in ON official MV, lol, and I'm a die-hard ARMY.
ladiva7 One thing I would like to point out tho is TXT theories. Because they basically have a short film dedicated to it aka Eternally MV which is 19min long. They also had Magic Island which was like 15min. The visuals are crazy I’d say they pulled that off amaZing.
@@veryrare9161 I'm a TXT fan and I've watched those MVs and even Nap of a Star (my favorite). I like their theory but I'm not going to dig deep into it like I did with BU. I was sad Bighit didn't put a proper ending to BU and just started the LY and MOTS eras like that, like the BU never existed. I'm not saying they should continue it eternally but at least give it a proper ending. I don't know if you noticed but since the LY series, the theories are all over the place, I lost my excitement regarding it, and I lost it even more when every Kpop company and their grandma stated "imposing" theories to their groups. Some of those theories are so badly made, it's just theory for theory. I'm done with kpop theories FR.
Kpop does get way too complicated... I never understand the MVs especially Gfriend MVs. They only leave questionsmarks. But the song os really great. I don't get why people always bring up Big Hit. Source Music still exists and they are still responsible for Gfriend. Source Music is just a subsidiary of Big Hit.

Source's PD nim and Bang Sihyuk are best friends, and it's not that crazy thinking that maybe they created this whole universe, or that they are intertwining their worlds. I feel this is an idea they had since the creation of their companies, like... I'm not a Gfriend fan, but I like their music very much, and I know they, since the begining, have all this story... but now it's when they can show in a better way cuz they have BH's help (money). I'm just expecting a big collaboration between Gfriend, TXT and BTS. Their worlds collapsing at the end of the day.

If I am not wrong Gfriend has had 2 korean comebacks per year for the past 3 years. The winter comeback has their trademark sound (like orchestral powerful innocent kind) & the summer comeback has been experimental songs for them.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this comeback from them. They have always been great vocalists and performers but this one just hits different. They are capable of endless things in music and its nice to see them adding to their already unique discography.

I wasn’t a fan of gfriend but this is a bop honestly! I love the whole theme and yeah, they showed that they can do a lot of different sounds/concepts. The visuals of the MV were just stunning too
their goal is to be together forever. and I think they taught the apple can bring them together again. And when yuju and umji kiss each other I think that is their dream because they have bad relationship in crossroads. The same with eunbi line. Sowon is the leader but in crossroads mv Yerin surrender with her life. So the bottom line is they are longing to be together again. Maybe butterfly swayed them by apple, told them that they can meet each other if they eat it. but it actually its not. Their glass beads (heart) become red, they forget about their dream because of temptation. Maybe just for temporary, bcoz Sowon said this album is about How to Survive from The Temptation of the World. so here is the temptation, apple. And in the album there is a song titled Eyes of The Storm or Snow Time which Yuju said this song is about "Be true to yourself". That's one way to survive.
