Omg, I'm so glad I found you! You're gAWWgeous and I love this video! I am originally from Trinidad & Tobago but have been in the US for the past 13 years. I will be visiting Ghana in September with the hopes of loving it so much that I make the transition to reside over there!

According to your calculation $440 is 2,000cedi Then 500cedi is $110 which is what u are encouraging as monthly payment? Damn. I was in Ghana early this year with 2friends..spent one day in Accra and the next day we were off to Cape Coast for a week. I negotiated 100cedi a day with a taxi man who comes to the hotel to pick us daily to where ever we wanted to go. He leaves sometimes after dropping us off but when we are ready to move..we call and he's back in less than 10mins. We paid him 550 because the last day he only picked us from the hotel straight to the car park. The Ghanaians we met in Accra said we paid to much but it was too late. We had fun though.
@akuakwaa

@moretodela
@moretodela 6 лет назад
+that gidi yes that calculation is right. 550 is a lot but because you were on holiday I guess it’s about fair. You couldn’t afford to pay such prices if you lived here but holiday mode is entirely different because you come to spend money and have a good time as you said.

you are contributing to the inflation if you are overpaying for anything in ghana. poor people will suffer if everything is expensive because expatriates are over paying

If you could afford to pay your staff more than minimum wage you should do so, it helps to remove people out of poverty, schools are to not free, and medication cost more than develop countries, it’s cost more to live in developing countries, they have no social care, no benefits if a person is ill he/ she is in a serious problem.. pay the local more if you can..

They just follow what our own black people tell them here as to pay their workers low wages cus I can bet my bottom dollar that a driver earns more than that in the u.k.....blame our own people not the expats..go to spintex and see how low people are paid after working back breaking jobs..

Hey, so I really want to take a trip to Ghana with my one year old son in June. I'd like to stay for a month. It's unfortunate because I was looking into volunteer programs but he's too young for the programs.I was trying to find organizations that I could still volunteer at while I'm there, hotels, places to go and things to do? Do you have any recommendations? I'm kind of nervous traveling alone and not through an organization but I really want to do it!

I couldn't watch the entire video. Let's pay living wages. If you are not able to pay your driver, house keeper a living wage, then don't have one. DO NOT discourage others from paying as much as they can. If I can pay 1k or 2k, I am going to. I don't want my driver thinking about his next job while driving me or my family. It's like those big businesses that gross millions and billions a year and refuse to pay people at least $15 per hour. Imagine someone discouraging your employer to reduce your rate😂. Living wages is a must. People shouldn't have to work 2 to 3 jobs to make ends meet.

Diaspora are being invited by government to return to the continent to stimulate the economy, create jobs, introduce technology, etc. We are not going to continue with the status quo respectfully. There should be a minimum wage. Base salary for every job should be significantly higher than what they are. Regulations on home building should be standardized to include addresses, access roads, lighting, proper sewage, natural gas, and water. Environmental safety should be enforced rather than allow homes to dump gray and black water into the ground at will. So no I will not hire a worker and insults them with a salary that I wouldn’t even pay a small child. My morals would not allow me to have someone work for me an entire month and only pay them crumbs. Again, we are not being asked to return and fall into a business as usual mentality. I hope to learn, share ideas, and bring prosperity to the continent. Someone got you thinking that you are not worthy of a fair wage commensurate with the work performed, but I beg to differ.

Precisely what I was thinking... U want UK rates for yourselff but paying rock bottom for other services...that's sad... The driver you pay 1500cedis for just might be offering better quality of service than the one for 500..granted, they both drive a car, but u will probably be able to let one driver run more complex errands (without having to micromanage n direct every single step) than the other, one's educational background cd b better than the other etc...One thing I know, if you pay peanuts, you will get monkeys!!! Its doesnt add up to say that if you pay someone higher than market rate, you are doing them a disservice bcos when they lose their job, then what??? Won't they have saved from when they made higher earnings...?? If if they were paid lower n they lose their job they still can't get another job that either pays the same or better or worse?? Pay those who work for you what is "decent" and hold them to the required standards..if they don't meet the standards, you fire them....they also need to buy food, cater for transport, etc....just as you needed to when you were considering the teaching job...if you pay the barest minimum, you'll mostly get ppl who won't work with the right commitment, and you'll probably have to do the work yourself again or hire another person to do it..

@MI-vn4tp
@MI-vn4tp 6 лет назад
Natural Ghana Girl I can share a lot of knowledge regarding composing a lesson plan or a presentation. I am world traveled. I have taught from middle school to college. I wasn’t trying to be smart or anything but I think our people should put out a good product even if it is a video. Anyone can tell when work goes into something versus when very little was. If we want good pay we have to put out a good product. Don’t ever waste your time on anything you haven’t put your best into. If the title of your video says you’re going to give salaries, prices etc. that’s what the content should be. I instilled hard work into my daughters and it paid off for both of them. I held myself to those same standards since I was in my twenties. My oldest daughter is 45 and my youngest is 30. I just look young for my age. I’ve done a lot in my lifetime. I retired in 2005 and completed some other careers I wanted to do like real estate and decorating. I also traveled more. My husband retired from the Air Force. All I do now is what I want when I wake up each day. I want to see young black ladies do well regardless if they’re my daughters or someone else’s. I’ve had jobs where I hired and fired people. I’ve been appointed to certain positions by the Governor of my state. I’ve had over five hundred people under my supervisor at a time with three subordinate supervisors. I have always encouraged young black females and males to do well. The ones that listened to my instructions and took advice from me got promoted. They had to take state and civil service tests to get promoted I just taught them how to get promoted, the rest was on them. I merely prepared them. One young lady I mentored is listed in the top 100 most influential women in my state. She says I’m her second mom. She practically lived at my house growing up. She graduated in the top 1% of her class in Mechanical Engineering. She autographed on the back of her college picture I could always see my future through you. Others have done well too. If I were to list what my daughters do and other young people I’ve mentored people would read this post get jealous and say I’m bragging. I happened across your video and some others on RU-vid. I was interesting in learning something about the price of housing and salaries in Ghana but I didn’t. I never close my mind to learning regardless of how old I get or what the source is as long as its good. I find as a whole our race must do better with what we put out if we want to compete on a world level. There are minor things you could have done with this video to make it much better. Remember your audience, what your title promised and deliver it. Convert Ghana’s money to US money, give salaries for jobs on your level higher and lower levels. Give prices on rentals, home purchases and show pictures of what one could expect for the prices. Small things could make a difference in getting a hundred hits versus a thousand and pick up followers. You could even start a consultant firm from your followers on RU-vid. Your president is trying to get Black people to live in Ghana so your country is open to all sort of businesses. Someone said they bought rice in Ghana that was imported from China. With all the fertile land in Ghana somebody should grow rice. If black people don’t take the opportunity to invest in Ghana and think outside the box next thing the Europeans will be there thinking outside the box and owning everything. Black people in America are still in captivity. We’re still in slavery just a different form. However there are those of us that took advantage of what our captors offered in education and business so we’ve done well while others put nothing in and got nothing out. We were raised in the same communities as them under the same circumstances but realized we had a brain and had a desire to do better regardless of how hard we had to work. We didn’t give up. I’m sure your president is looking for Black people to come there with those same traits because when you have a Dream you’re gonna succeed or die trying. He’s looking for Black people that can bring something with them. You never know who might watch one of your videos and want to meet you to start your own school. Get a dream and just do it.

+Mw Mw hi and thanks for your reply. I was actually quite impressed with your list of achievements even though you felt the need to list them all here. I find your last sentence to be quite rude though “get a dream and just do it”? You don’t know me to say that I don’t have a dream. There is a very fine line between giving constructive criticism and being arrogant. The title of the video is “Ghana Salaries” and I have done as the title says. I can’t give precise amounts as every company pays differently. I’m not quite sure how you find this video to be misleading but you seem to be the only one. I’m wondering if you have ever been to Ghana before or in fact Africa? I think I’m quite a fair person so some of your comments I do take on board and the rest I will just throw away as they are quite frankly rude. If you do ever decide to start a RU-vid channel I shall be the first to subscribe. Anyhoo, have a wonderful evening😊

Natural Ghana Girl I wasn’t telling you get a dream I was speaking in general for anyone. Secondly this is not the forum for me to list all my achievements. If I did I would be writing for a long time. I merely listed a few. I answered your question. I believe you asked what I had done, and I’m paraphrasing? Sometimes it’s hard to talk to black females when you give them constructive criticism. They get defensive. I was on my own since I was 14 years old. By the time I was in my twenties I welcomed constructive criticism from older women. I didn’t know at the time it was God behind all my success. However, I sought out counsel from older women and they taught me well. I made a lot of mistakes along the way but my dream was to be successful and help my ten brothers and sisters. We lost my mom when I was eight years old and my dad fell off the map so to speak. He was there but not there. We grew up partially on a farm and in the inner cities. I do apologize if you felt that statement was just for you, however, whatever I said it was for you to chew the meat, spit out the bones. On this forum people from around the world in all types of professions watch these videos. Even people in the White House. You never know who you might meet. In fairness to you I will watch some of your other videos.

+Mw Mw I understand, perhaps I was being slightly defensive in my answer. As I said before I do take on board some of your comments as you did make some genuine points. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
