One of my favorite parts about this fight is how clear they made it that these two have fought before. The way they move to dodge each other or how Godzilla immediately took a head and turned his back. It's such a well-done fight
They do know each others moves that's why when they fought mecha godzilla with ghidoras brain, the mecha g seemed to dodge godzillas moves like it knew them. It also did a screech when it saw him
I like how when Godzilla first looks at Ghidorah, you can tell he absolutely *hates* Ghidorah just from the glare. This isn't like the MUTO's where its just his job, this shit is *personal*
@@jdjGSHBFjh68827 Damn right. Was clear he was monitering the potential that Ghidora of all things could be awakened. As well as god knows what else due to the Orca. Surprised Godzilla didn't find a way to wipe out Ghidora all the years he was frozen. But probably didn't find it worth the risk to wake the fucker if it didn't work. Not that it matters, Godzilla beat and killed him early in the film fair and square. Humans fucked up and ruined it.
@@Tempestuous.Shadow I mean to be fair size ups usually occur when an animal isn’t sure if their opponent knows what they are going up against. Like when fish flair their gills to other creatures to let them know to not mess with them, doesn’t necessarily mean that they been fighting for their entire existence. So if it wasn’t already told to us that godzilla and monster zero has on site beef that originated in ancient times, it would be safe to assume that it’s their first time seeing each other. Unless your trying to tell us that every encounter they have with one another monster zero always sizes godzilla up to show who’s bigger even though they’ve been fighting for eons. In which case, they both know who’s bigger.
@stuffland4371 Mr. Paperweight loves to flex it to him. I'd like to say, when it comes to who is overall stronger, they're fairly evenly matched (with Ghidorah having the edge cuz flight). Godzilla threw the living curtain at a considerable distance with the latter skidding across the ground, and Ghidorah wiping the fat lizard's face on the floor & pulling a golden eagle on him. Quick theory: u think Ghidorah killed Anguirus?
Well actually when the movie came out, someone asked the director on twitter what were the names of the heads. The director responded with the names and they had ancient sounding names but when it came to the left he said the name and then "AKA...Kevin". You can just look up the names of the heads on google then the tweet might pop up and it's pretty funny
Oh, I very much love the vocalisations of this Ghidorah incarnation - they're a beautiful, mighty and terrible sound like a scream of hate, rage and panic.
Later on, when he touches down in Boston, you can actually hear his Showa-era flying sound. Later, during his battle with Godzilla, he uses one of his Heisei-era grunts when Godzilla punches him in the face
I swear I love that Michael Dougherty is such a fan of nature and treated all the monsters like actual creatures. One of my favorite scenes in the whole entire movie is where King Ghidorah and Godzilla give intimidation displays. Godzilla stands perfectly straight like a bear showing his chest and Ghidorah spreads his wings as far as he can to show his true size.
Honestly, after watching this I can’t blame Godzilla for wanting to destroy humanity sometimes...the woman was an idiot and Godzilla went through all that work to Put King Ghidorah in Ice, just for him to be released because she was selfish and entitled. The humans should be very thankful Godzilla wasn’t vengeful in this film.
I love how Ghidorah rears up and spreads his wings to show his full size. It's like an intimidation display and by god is his full size imposing. Big G of course ain't scared but dang Ghidorah is fucking massive
This movie is soo underrated. I can't understand why not many people like it. The epicness, the creativity of the production team and the directors ability to balance the screen time between each monster.
@@shinndig1293 bruh, No Ghidorah and Godzilla don't realise in the middle of the movie that their moms share the same name and be like: Meh, f*ck fight, let's be friends
Personally, I thought the CG effects were very well done, but all in all I did not like the movie as much as I wanted to. But I respect it for the way it is, and especially respect the director for trying to pay homage to white makes a true Godzilla movie.
It just needs to focus less on the humans. No one comes to watch a Godzilla movie for the human subplot. Honestly you could write up the worst plot in existence for the humans story and we'd still show up because it's the fucking monsters we're here to see.
1:30 Middle head: _Bow to your king, Godzilla_ Right head: *just a look of pure malice, evil and hate* Kevin: *ARE WE REALLY DOING THIS!?! YOU REMEMBER LAST TIME RIGHT?! *RIGHT!?*
@@aakashs30mki don't underestimate the honey badger, I'm sure a honey badger the size of Godzilla would fuck him up and every other Kaiju along with him
@@cosmozapallo4530 it can and should be shorter, but some human story is a good thing. Godzilla going nuclear wouldn't have even made sense without the human aspect, for one. Having humans in the story who you don't want to die also adds an important element of high stakes. Your pure monster fight movie won't happen because it's not a good idea. There was a LOT of fighting in KOTM, y'all are never satisfied
@@cosmozapallo4530 critics and fans: "no character development, mindless fighting with no variety, terrible pacing". Everyone's gotta have a complaint with monster movies. This was a great one.
@@CamJames pure facts bro lol sometimes we need a break from the fights and into the actual story it would get boring and we would be numb to the affects if it was just about them the entire movie you need plot and other point of views and how they see the fight the people can help the movie if they are funny etc
Honestly the only reason why Ghidorah looked a lot bigger than Godzilla was because of his huge wings. If you block out his wings they’re the same size
@@matthewlee4659 Ghidorah is still a good bit larger, and weighs about 140,000 tons to Godzilla’s 99,000. The wings do make the difference seem more drastic though; it’s actually something animals IRL use for intimidation.
I loved my wife's reactions while watching this movie. She is not familiar with the lore of the old ones but she gets so much into whatever she watches. When 1:39 happened, she was genuinely flabbergasted at the size difference. She asked me "So, Godzilla has beaten this guy in the old movies?" "No." Her eyes went 👀 Man, did she have an emotional rollercoaster for the remainder of it.
Thats adorable i remember seeing godzilla 2014 in theathers with my mom when she was alive and wow she was on the edge of her seat. I know for a fact she would of loved this godzilla 2019 too. Godzilla is for everyone and the old movies are a little corny at times but im sure your wife will enjoy the anime they released he is just nuetural good in that one. Shin godzilla was ok but godzilla was kind of the bad guy in that one. If she hasnt seen 2014 godzilla please make her do so.
That’s both cool and cute. My little brother was so full of emotions whenever he would see any of the titans fight. He was shocked, excited, and he would usually tell me “did you see how cool it looked whenever they shoot beams!?” I gotta admit, my little brother also brought back my inner child as well when I watched this in theaters.
Imagine being imprisoned in ice for over ten thousand years and then suddenly you’re freed and then just 5 minutes later the same guy who trapped you shows up Edit: The director of the movie confirmed it was the Godzilla we all know and love and not one of his ancestors who trapped Ghidorah.
The entrance Godzilla has when he plows from the ice in the ground is so badass. I love the music that goes along with it as it truly shows his fierce power, and it always sends shivers down my spine every time I see that entrance he has because he really showed intimidation and fury in that single moment, what a monstrous beast Big G is.
Godzilla is smart... he knows most of the size is just the giant wings and skinny necks. It just like a peacock trying to intimidate a coyote by spreading its feathers
Let's all remember that this whole giant kijudu thing happen cause one human woman wanted to play god and thought unleashing alien like monsters was for the good of the world
@@thisisnoplacetodie3908 Pull out your man card, dammit. Don't talk like a damn woman. Women complain about sexism. Would you say it's sexist if the majority of soldiers are men? Maybe. It's still the truth.
I wish I could relive watching this movie in IMAX again. Hearing the classic Roar and revamped version of Godzilla's theme just gave me the biggest smile when I saw it; made me feel like a kid again.
This is honestly the best representation of King Ghidorah I have ever seen before and it continues to be my all-time favorite incarnation of the character. I love how King Ghidorah is just so ferocious in this movie.
@@soonerintheblueoasis1937 indeed, check out the same clip on my channel. I imagined how the monsters would talk and did a subtitles video. You might like it
I can’t get over how beautiful the sound design is for King ghidorah. Also the facial animation for each head is 10/10, you can tell each head has its own personality.
I personally find ghidorah to be more interesting and majestic than godzilla If it were not for godzilla to be the most plot armor portected character no one would be able to match up to or even defeat ghidorah
@@devastator01ful it’s not that Godzilla has plot armor, but Godzilla’s species was meant to be dominant. Being powered by the same energy as the earths core, the hollow earth chose Godzilla to be ruler and protector of earth (as far as we know). Applying it to real world, wolves are born from the Alpha, will soon be alpha barring another wolf comes to fight for the throne. Or another Example, if the Titans are all connected, we can compare earth to a beehive and all the Titans/Humans are different types of bees that work in the Hive. If an outside threat (another bee from another colony (or in this case Ghidorah being not of this earth)), the queen will initiate the fight orders or fight the intruder herself. Since all the Titans are currently in hibernation, Godzilla has to act as the Hives protector.
@@devastator01ful you forget Godzilla had Ghidorah beat twice before he dropped Godzilla from the stratosphere. The only reason Ghidorah even had a chance in the end was because he was supercharged by the electricity grid. There is absolutely no plot armor

I love Goji’s little “hype” roar right as he’s slamming Ghidorah’s head. It’s almost like he’s saying HIYAAA. I’m weird, I pay attention to small sound designs like that lol
Sps SpinySpino she was that girl from Godzilla 2014, she was along side Serizawa most of the times. If I remember correctly. It’s been a while since I’ve seen that movie lol
It's actually impressive in these movies how well Godzilla kept track of and monitored world wide threats before his Mothra upgrade. Before he was able to sense things he still managed to always keep track of what was going on with every titan and activity concerning them.
2:03 Godzilla: "I'll end with you now!" Ichi: "No, I will end you!" Ni: "Argh, I will kill you!!!!" Kevin: "Guys! Guys! Why can't we stop this? Guys?!"
My favorite thing about Godzilla is even though he can easily just use his atomic breath, he really always pulls up to the run the fade. He's all about the rumble. His entrance in this was super tough.
I think by the "we need kong" is we need him to win because of his connection to humanity they hope he will have all monsters go back to the hollow earth and godzilla being he is fighting for the safety of earth with all our fuck ups might think we aren't the best option for earth and kill us all someday
Can we talk about the bond the Ghidorah heads have? They just woke up, and they're greeting each other and basically asking. "Hey you good bro?" And when Kevin ain't responding he gets nipped on the ear to get his attention and respond. Such a small and wicked interaction but still cool and kinda endearing in a weird way.
1:32 - See that look on Godzilla's face? That's what pure hatred looks like. In Godzilla 2014 & when G 1st saw the Male MUTO, he had a shit eating grin on his face. When Godzilla 1st sees Ghidorah here, that's a totally different look on Godzilla's face. Like I said, it was a look of pure hatred. Years & years & years of hatred between those two conveyed in one terrifying look from Godzilla.
I don’t care what people say about this film. It was a gift to G Fans everywhere, the soundtrack was amazing, the designs original, and they showed a glimpse of how Titans would be if they existed.Besides, this is Godzilla’s world, we just live in it
@@Dasporemaster77 The cuts don't bother me either. At the very least we still see the fights going on and not just cut away to somewhere else and we don't see the fight at all. or briefly on the news. Sure the fights seem quick but honestly I rather have that then have them drag and drag to the point we get board of them. And besides the movie has a limited run time. It still needs a story and the humans are what drive that.
@@mackenziecarver6807 So in other words you’d rather not see fights or barely see fights instead of seeing them? Why are you watching kaiju films then that are supposed to have big fights?
That's right, the many unjustified criticisms made Lengedary transform the Monsterverse that had everything to be epic into the banal thing it is today. We will certainly never see Biolante or Destroyer in cinemas.
Okay can we just talk about the excellence of this WHOLE scene All 3 heads having their own persona; Ferocity, Curiosity, and Leader Ghidorah's rattlesnake qualities Then the face off. Nature's biggest (no pun intended) facing off after eons without seeing each other. King Ghidorah just woke up and sees their biggest threat Godzilla freaking sensed Ghidorah then showed up at Antarctica knowing damn well what to do Sees his least favorite yellow hydra and is PISSED His atomic glow in the deep distance, and then BOOM Chants of SORE SORE! And his OG music plays They exchange roars and a kickass wide shot Round 1 begins with neither holding back, atomic breath misses, gravity blast hits Godzilla falling with his OG roar echoing But he ain't even close to done Calvary comes in and helps Big G scare off Ghirdorah Obviously pissed, One last roar as Godzilla claims THIS ISN'T OVER! The thunderstorm following Yellow Satan
You lef tout Ghidorah amusing himself with the people in the copter but, then the leader sensed Godzilla and makes a noise like.. "Okay...what's that?" Also, Ghidorah trying to do the nature thing of intimidation by making himself as large as possible. I could watch this scene and this movie over and over again.
You can tell they're old ancient adversaries here... And then there's Kevin. Lookin' like he can't remember if he turned the stove off before they left the house.
This fight shows how durable Godzilla is, rodan took one of ghidorah’s gravity beams to the chest and was out of the fight, Mothra was killed when hit with all three, Godzilla took all three to the chest, fell down, and got back up ready to continue fighting

@Jay Ng junior I was mostly talking about how many hits they got in. Godzilla only got 1-2 hits in at the start when he grabbed Ghidorah's head and slammed into into the ground. But Ghidorah lit him up with gravity beams and shoved him around like a ragdoll. Godzilla never hit him again. He even missed with his atomic breath. It's true that Godzilla got up after falling down the ice shelf and was ready to continue fighting. It's disappointing how the fight ended so quickly. But overall, I'd say that Ghidorah did better.
Yeah but also GvK actually gave us a full solid fight between the two Kaiju, whereas KotM suffered from cutting away from the fights a little too often
