I like the dynamics they used in this reboot. MW2 and MW3 alluded to a lot of stuff with character relationships (Soap's adventures w/ Ghost et al.) that happened between games or were only fleetingly referenced in expanded material. This plot seems like they're trying to right some wrongs by better building character dynamics and giving the viewer a reason to understand the connections the original team built up. I also like the way they pair up certain teams for their own missions before converging on the big bad in the final act.
In the orginal, Soap gained experiance under Price and outranked Ghost. In this reboot, Soap hasn't recieved his commission and is still fresh when Ghost is introduced Also Gaz, Ghost, and Wallcroft were all voiced by Craig Fairbass in the OT
@@crazyrabbits Exactly my thought. They decided to give us familiar faces but retconned them so the two favorites of the original trilogy (arguable), Soap and Ghost, are written together with a more fleshed out relationship instead of dying at random points in the original story. Still was impactful but Infinity Ward saw the potential and decided to try again.
@@ukbantsldn2441 You can somewhat build how he looks, blonde tall rugged british man, you see his eyes, the back of his head, and part of his jawline, on top of the comics that depict him in his early days, he is a handsome mf
@@nocturnalcove9736 I believe Soap is actually Scottish! So Soap making this comment is actually pretty funny, especially when Ghost commented on Soap needing to speak English because he didn't understand his rain comment.
@@ileydabodur4766 Being British includes England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. He might have said it because he wishes for Scotland to be independent !! But whilst he's Scottish, under these terms, Soap is British.
I never realized that whole conversation Grave’s men have at 2:47 where one of them says how he wouldn’t take his chances against 141 and how he even feared Ghost. That alone shows how fucking intimidating Ghost is
You can also hear the breath of relief before he says "thought we lost you". Man really does care for his teammates despite being a deadly executioner.
@@ebergonzalez7822 that twist wouldn’t make sense, it’d be cool, but: 1. this game is an entirely different timeline (confirmed to be) 2. shephard’s already betrayed 141 (which is how ghost and roach die, unaware he’s bad. we could possibly lose soap though) 3. in the final cutscene, laswell brings up makarov which isn’t new to them so they’ve (most likely) dealt with him before/have previous knowledge of him
@@spencerreidswife you know since it’s been stated that they all know makarov then the developers should make in the beginning mission of the modern warfare 3 remake should be how 141 dealt with makarov.
Yes I loved how they added that in this game it just seems right, bc in the OG games soap was a noob or a greenie and I just can’t see ghost being introduced without already being a high ranking soldier
@@Lovely999_ so was ghost he was the new one also soap is the founder of the 141 it’s weird they’re giving all his roles to price but I guess that’ll mean he’ll be the one to end Makarov
5:00 Imagine just chilling at a bar trying to enjoy a drink or have a quick lunch when you hear Ghost say this. I'd probably ask for a takeout container, put the leftovers in it, and leave immediately. I may not drink, but I know when my life is more valuable alive.
I feel like the people who deny Soap and his subtle little crush on Ghost just haven’t played the Metal Gear series and taken a nice long look at Ocelot and Snake’s dynamic.
"English, McTavish." "Allow me to translate. Go fuck yourself." Seriously, that has to be an interaction with the future antagonists. It's such a great line that has so much potential. Imagine saying it and going on a tear
@@TheS1E2A3L4 Activision fired him because he made some sexist comments online some years ago I believe? Not sure. But hey, everything bad is good for something.
@@KenjjooThose comments were a bit more recent compared to others fired for similar things, which are typically ages ago (James Gunn) I think in any other case firing Jeff would be valid, but considerjng it was Activision that fired him, the company that treats their women employees like garbage, it’s really hypocritical.
I absolutely LOVE the first part, where Soap meets Ghost and is cringe, but later Ghost takes the piss out of that first meeting, joking about getting that 'win' he wanted. I absolutely LOVE this campaign
I was mixed about how they did Soup in this game but now it's starting to make sense the more I think about it. Because the events of the original trilogy never happened, Soup never went through the events that would turn him into a good leader, nor gain the experience to become less green. Here, he's still green.
People say that they loved the OG Ghost and Soap. But what I will say is that ghost and soap together on MWII are even better than the OG. Comedic nature of soap was a breath of fresh air from the usual serious military characters. Sure some characters have some funny lines but it's not as good as MWII's soap and ghost.
Fun fact in modern warfare three soap died on the last mission when he said he I wanna be like you when I grow up at the cut scene when he died, Captain Price said he was the best of us
We're a team, *GHOST TEAM* Hell yeah. Takes me back when Call of Duty Ghost came out. It's a shame that they didn't continue on with the game as they ended it with a cliffhanger
“I’m in the coffee shop!” “Get us a tea.” “Fucking brits.” Hahahahaha! The banter between Soap and Ghost in this game is hilarious! Love that they have more chemistry than they did in the original MW2.
I love the original trilogy, don't get me wrong. but the dynamics these characters have this time around is just such a blast to experience and I need more.
As a Kentuckian, when I first played the game I couldn't help but scream, "FUCKIN' YEE YOU LOVE THAT BOURBON SON!!!" A moment of pride for my home state. A rare one, but nice.
