In Warden of Nothing, the Drifter insults our Ghost, at the end calling him the "Sorriest thing he ever saw". So to say those 2 hate each other is a given. especially given the Drifter's hatred for ghosts in general.
@@xatileofmorgon5095 in that strike he also threatens the drifter asking him if he has an army after saying that we just destroyed an army, don't remember the context tho.
I can just imagine him cutting into the comms at the end of the quest and just hear ghost say 'theres a new drifter in town' and he just says 'what was that?' Inadeep intimidating voice
Funny story about this, they originally were going to have the Drifter radio in during the mission, but due to scheduling issues due to COVID they couldn't get him in to record the voice lines, so an employee (or it might have been Nolan North himself actually idk) had the idea to have Nolan North as our ghost do a drifter impression throughout the mission, problem was that Nolan North was doing such a good impression of the Drifter that they had to ask him to do a worse job to sell it as our ghost doing an impression.
We can achieve enlightenment, aspire to return to monke or even aspire higher to become Giga Chad... But no one, and I mean NO ONE has ever even come somewhere close to becoming The *Drifter*! ... except for Ghost!! (☉_☉)!!
just imagine if the Darkness creates a copy of our ghost in its own image its just the drifter impression, and the actual drifter will just be confused
@@trainofdestructiont.o.d9443 Just remember that Nolan North’s original impression of the Drifter was so spot on they had to have him do a second take and told him to “make it worse”.
@@Caliif Think I remember him talking about how he feels different ever since we got that shard of Darkness to use stasis, so it most likely seems to be affecting him in some way. I also remember hearing that Luke Smith said in an interview that using the Darkness powers will eventually bring repercussions, so it's only a matter of time to find out what exactly these repercussions will be!
They asked him to give it a shot as Drifter's VA was unavailable. Bungie employee said they had to instruct him to do a worse job. Nolan North is the man.
@@OracleOfTheOasis I was busy, so to add to that: The mission was originally written for Drifter, but as he was unavailable, they changed the narrative to make Ghost do an impression.
You go into gambit, the scene cuts to the floor as a small shadow passes over it. Then the camera changes to a higher angle and it’s your ghost wearing a fake beard. He then transmats a green coin repeatedly until it lands on hive. He then says “Hive, bring a sword.” The camera fades.
That would be hilarious. It also be even more hilarious if the Stranger, Eris and Drifter just sitting there on comms and all of them at the end said wtf did we hear and dying of laughter lol, but that would’ve been funny
The fuck do ya think the "top secret" thing was, Drifyer knew ghost would try to impersonate him, he just wanted to have Eris and The Stranger hear it too
I absolutely *love* this mission purely because we finally get to hear something from our Ghost that isn’t about scanning And Spider, can’t forget about Spider
Nolan North is the heart of Bungie’s VA cast. Already does a great job for Ghost, and when Fillion and Drifters VA aren’t able to make it, he filled in for them as Cayde and Drifter perfectly. What a talent, we’re lucky to have him
We’ll probably have conversations with Ghost moving forward, but we have 6 voice actors for every language. I don’t think dialogue choices will ever happen.
better yet, customize the tone, pitch, and volume of ghost's voice, want a girly ghost? Done. How about one that sounds like he will eat your eyes? Done,
@@Kevin-bs5tv I refuse to think they'd kill an important character's ghost like that offscreen. There's gotta be more that they aren't telling us about what happened to Sagira.
We NEED a Lore Tab about Ghost continuing his Drifter impression once in a while for fun, and even of other character. Zavala, Ikora, Crow and the Guardian itself.
Yeah Bungie is pretty bad at writting a good character. They managed it with Cayde-6 and the Drifter. Nearly every other npc is boring, exchangable or just poorly written (like Zavala and Ikora who is literally the most useless side character ive ever met in a game).
@@SilverusX I still don't understand what a "good written character" is in the community's opinion. A joke of a character like D2 cayde? Turning cayde into a comic relief character was the worst decision bungie made from d1 to d2.
Fun fact: They originally tried to get drifter’s voice in there but he couldn’t come in to record it. They got Nolan North to act as ghost impersonating drifter, and he did, but he did it a little too well and sounded exactly like the drifter. So they asked him to do worse. Nolan also voiced Cayde in the first forsaken level because they couldn’t get Nathan Fillion in to record it
What makes this even better is that Nolan north voices ghost, and he is one of if not the best voice actor, in a hundred games, he can be anyone, he could do a very accurate impression of drifter but he went with this one lol it's so good I love this mission
I swear this is just Nolan North taking a bet from someone in the studio saying "Bet you can't do an impression of the Drifter while also voicing Ghost"
According to a Bungie employee on Reddit; this came about because, thanks to COVID, they couldn't get Drifter's VA in to do his lines, so they asked Nolan North (Ghost's VA) to imitate Drifter as Ghost. Evidently Nolan was too good at it so Bungie deliberately told him to make it worse.
I find the funniest shit being that apparently North initially did such a good Drifter impression that they had to ask him to tone it back a little and make it sound more like ghost.
that... is actually exactly what happened. Todd Haberkorn couldn't be reached during developement due to COVID reasons, and a writer reasoned it'd be easier to get Nolan North booked and rewrite Drifter's lines to be said by Ghost instead.
(Writing as of lightfall) I love how over the years our ghost went from paranoid to getting more and more aggressive. Like his beliefs are challenged and he doesn’t care anymore and chose violence
I love that Ghost gets more confident in the new expansion! He seems less scaredy-cat and more like he's having as much fun as we do, while still being careful in dangerous situations
For anyone that doesn’t know, the reason we had this impression is because Drifter’s voice actor couldn’t make it to record for this mission bc of rona. Nolan North was already there so they kind of constructed a plan. Nolan did an impression of Drifter and it was really good, but Bungie thought itd be funny if Ghost played Drifter here, Bungie then told Nolan to do an impression of Drifter but really bad. Fun little story i think, a reason why Bungie regained my trust and why Nolan North is my favorite
it really amuses me to know that when Nolan initially did the voice lines for the Ghost imitating Drifter, he imitated Drifter TOO well, so they told him to tone down the imitation until it turned into this.
