Just wanted to let you know, you're single handedly carrying the PC HDR community. No one else on RU-vid has been able to help me learn and master PC HDR as yourself and I thank you for that!
I just turned up the brightness to 60/70 and called it a day as it still looks really good but you can see more inside dark areas, especially indoors. I really don't want to mess around with reshade. Still, I appreciate that you make these videos and provide alternatives for people. Thank you as always.
Problem is you lose color information this way, so yea the best way to solve this imo is to increase paper white which the game unfortunately doesn't allow you to do natively. EDIT: I found the game to be generally too dark that's why I think raising the overall brigthness is better than raising shadows. But if you think the game is ok otherwise then yea easiest fix would be to use ingame brightness slider and adjust shadow details that way. You lose color but it's a compromise I guess.
@@ViktorVelkov The game, fortunately, is already so incredibly beautiful and colorful, I almost completely don’t notice the „missing“ color information. It’s really not an issue on my C2.
@@vSoulreaver Yea I agree it still looks beautiful but you definitely lose colors this way. I also tested it on my C2. You could keep the contrast as it is if they'd allow us to increase paper white is all I'm saying.

I changed brightness to 60 and changed the shadows and mid-tone curve from a different shader, which was recommended on discord HDR Den. Lower shadows and increase mid-tones
What I found to work really well in this game is to use AdvancedAutoHDR and set input and output of the shader to be HDR10, so basically you're just processing the native hdr with the shader. In the shader you can then actually increase paper white! It looks absolutely fantastic in my opinion, but what you want to do is reduce the maximum peak brightness through the ingame menu so you don't clip any highlights. It works perfectly for me at least. I increased paper white from 80 to like 250 or something and reduced the peak brightness (ingame) down to 300 or something. This way you still get perfect blacks and just increase brightness of the whole image.

Yes, Dynamic tone mapping works with that. The difference with OFF is that even when Maxcll of the content is below Mastering Peak Maxcll, let's say the Game Maxcll is 1000 and Mastering Peak Maxcll defaults to 4000, it will be very hard to tell any difference if you set the Mastering Peak Maxcll to 1000 but that's where it should be
I have been watching a lot of videos and you have helped me learn alot of things. However, I am a little confused as to what is the best approach right now for 4k HDR pc gaming using the C1. 1)HLG HDR with motion pro? 2)HDR ON + HLG with motion pro? 3)Native HDR with reshade? 4)Native HDR without reshade and only tv settings ? 5) SDR HDR trick ? (Still unsure what's that but I've heard it a ton) I'm just not sure what to use anymore. Thanks for your dedication and hard work.
Hey plasma, how are you man? Just got a b3 and been binging your content, pretty educative content so far. But one thing I fail to understand is target brightness in reshade. How do I out the value to input?
You have to set the Game Max Brightness (Maxcll of the Game, maximum peak brightness that the game can output), and the Brightness you need Reshade to tone map to adapt it to your TV
Thank you for this video, definitely improved my experience with this game, but I have a couple of questions: in the ilium tone mapping menu I can't see the BT.2446 method A lumen post and gamut compression sliders at all even though I can notmally select it instead of 2390EETF, am I missing an add-on or something? Also in the game options I was wondering if you left the brightness slider to 50 or not (not the hdr max luminance but the regular brightness one) and if you are using the dramatic contrast option or not, I think the latter kind of gives the game a unique look, but it's too dark for me
Same here, I have the latest Reshade and Lilium's HDR, and there is not an option for BT.2446 only for Dice and BT.2390ETF. Do you have any update on this? Thanks in advance.

Ariel one question, what sharpness do you recommend for upscaled games on ps5. Also did you check sharpness 30std and fps do they look the same? I would really appreciate if you answer, it would help me a lot
My recommendation would be the same because I didn't notice any changes after the update, but I haven't had the chance to double-check. FPS Sharpness 10 for blurry games
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Cause you have Lg C1 and I am using C2 difference is that I am on web os23 which was previous lg g3 where you made a video about locked settings. And in all presets accept std sharpness is set by default to 25 and color depth 65
Are you using the "SDR-in-HDR curve from piecewise sRGB to Gamma 2.2" fix for this? I just tried it out and the game was way too dark with 2.2 - would you recommend using that and then cranking up the Brightness setting to 70? It looks similar to me, but I cannot tell if it has raised/crushed black levels

Yo hice un bench con mi nuevo 14900kf y la 4090 durante casi 14 minutos y no tuve ni un solo dip ni stutter, creo que el mínimo 0,1% lows fue de 103fps teniendo el juego con vrr gsync + vsync a 116 fps. I tried nvidia’s filters to change gamma, shadow etc.. and I can say it works really well without noticeable black raise… give it a try. Also, they have fixed max luminance slder in this game..
Could you do more videos more for console users too man, there are already many ways of how to fix hdr on PC but there is not much for console. And believe me man I have watched all of your videos one by one. Currently you are making more videos of how to fix hdr games in general, how to fix the source so that everyone could fix their games not only LG customers, I totally understand that but could you make more videos about consoles too. I don't see the BT.2446 Method A settings section under Lilium's tone mapping menu, only the Dice and EETF one. Am I missing something? Also, I couldn't install that AutoHDR addon, as the game wouldn't start anymore. Thanks for the constant support!
You should do a video, of a crt vs lcd vs OLED on 30 fps. And compare how smooth it feels. That would be a good video idea Even if crt has double image, I would be curious on how smooth it would be
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 People have managed to get interlaced resolutions on a CRT and a Ps2. Causing them to run 30 fps games without double image. I’m not entirely sure about pcs being able to do this.
It's dark in buildings I have been using dynamic tone mapping and up the in game brightness a bit. It's great game using lg G4 144 mode. I am useing mouse and keyboard.

For HGIG, the HDR content needs to be great, or you'd have to fix it from the source, not the TV settings. Dynamic tone mapping is there, so solve that issue
Game is so dark on OLED. Had people on Reddit telling it was my fault and it must be my settings even though I pretty much use default + HGIG. The contrast is unbelievable aggressive.
Ariel have you tried with RTX HDR? It seems that it does not work on this game properly even if you disable in-game HDR , so maybe this is the best solution so far?
The game has always had this issue on all versions of the game. Especially on older OLEDs, I know this because I own all three versions and have played them all on my 55 inch B9 OLED.
I want to use Windows AutoHDR for my SDR Games, but on Reshade I only get the SDR Analysis tool on AutoHDR games that gives only % Values instead of nits. Can I still use it to measure and test my HDR output? It feels kinda odd because the graphs and values are no different without AutoHDR. And after watching some hours of your content, I'm confused what color profile I should use. The HDR-calibrated one or the downloaded SDR ACM: sRGB
For Win11 AutoHDR and SDR HDR content, use the HDR calibration app profile for originally SDR sRGB content and the ICC profile for Originally SDR Gamma 2.2 content
Ariel I was just curious, what tone mapping does lg ultra wide monitors use cause there is no option to choose so I was thinking is it using dtm or hgig?
They receive HDR metadata f4om some games and windows and they tone map appropriately as I showed in a community post with screenshots of a 240Hz LG monitor from a member of our community
Still waiting for that dual or multiple monitor support. Honestly not going to hold my breath anymore, I'd rather use Lilium's HDR shaders and auto-HDR anyway.
@@Simon_Denmark Not saying that I believe them but at least Nvidia support staff is promising that it's going to be fixed it in the future on Reddit. They started posting in the driver discussion threads recently.
@@MrHorst38 I know that they promised to fix it, they promised to fix it when they released RTX HDR. I waited long enough and RTX HDR is redundant to me now. Lilium’s/MajorPainTheCactus auto HDR is more than enough and I can do other tweaking too.
@@MrHorst38 RTX HDR isn't even the perfect solution. It's not native HDR, so no real 10-bit color depth, and the colors are mapped from SDR. HDR is an insane mess on PC, on every front, native or auto, it's just sad at this point.
@@OshadorinTrue. But also a mess on consoles. Auto HDR on Xbox uses wrong gamma and only 12% of games with hdr support use the hdr calibration settings from ps5 and Xbox hdr system apps.
Im using 3060ti 5800x3d, everything at high and Dlss performance at 4k. When using Fsr3 FG I dont get more frames and i dont understand why this would be? The frametime graph becomes really stuttery when turning it on. Is it because of Vram?
Hey, I just upgraded to Windows 11, specifically for auto HDR. The problem is that it doesn't seem to be doing anything whatsoever. HDR is working on Windows and my monitor as it has before, but auto HDR doesn't do anything whatsoever. I've tried multiple games and on some it doesn't activate, and on some it does activate but doesn't look any different than auto HDR off, and the HDR intensity slider doesn't do anything. Any help? I've tried troubleshooting as much as I could but can't seem to fix it.
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 I did get the HDR calibration tool and applied it properly. I get the auto HDR notification, but it doesn't look different at all :/
Hey man, do you have a video like this one for assassins creed mirage? Its waaay to dark for me when i am using HGIG. Its dark even during midday in the middle of the desert or Bagda. Playing on xbox series x
Not a fan of this shader, prefer cactus' auto hdr with lilium where you just have to input correct max nits and call it a day, without tinkering with sliders that could mine image fidelty
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 it looks fine on my ultrawide monitor(non hdr), but when I turn off hdr on the oled, it looks horrible compare to my ultrawide monitor. Im guessing maybe I need to set the tv settings to sdr mode or something?
