Sorry I didn't have time to test more GPUs, but since performance seemed pretty good I just wanted to get out a quick video and let you know about the cool FSR 3 with DLSS feature.
I think is 3060 is golden gpu for relative performance for nvidia users.. by now many ppl who actually care, know relative difference between owned 2x,3x,4x vs 3060
I got through about 80% of the game on release, then got a PC and never completed it. Then went back to finish it on my ps4 a few months and forgot how loud my ps4 was and it felt like it was hardly hitting 30fps. Cant wait to get this with some proper performance!
I bought a PS4 in 2014 and just gave it it's first cleaning. Oh boy was it filthy inside! I have a new PC and the PS sat for a long time and I forgot how loud it gets too.
Nixxes is the gold standard of pc setting ports. Wish Arrowhead games had hired them to port Helldivers 2. Which is silly they didnt seeing as its also a Sony published game
Just remember that Nixxes is just one studio, they can't do all ports in a short amount of time. These take time, and rushing them will just lead us to back to the same PC port problems again.
@@kaoe145 yeah the emulators are turning out great but a full on port would be much better, native controls + ultrawide and the like. Also second son, no ps4 emulation (viable) yet:(
I love that the kids make an entrance into the videos. Please don't change that, it's awesome. Anyway, I've been waiting for a comparison like this for some time. Glad to see you're doing it. I can't believe my 2080Super can take advantage of AMD frame gen and FSR and still have a great looking game.
I think you meant AMD Frame Gen and DLSS Upscaling, right? but it looks like with a 2080 Super you can easily play on 1440p high settings with dynamic resolution with DLSS set to 60 and have an extremely good experience
@@elirantuil5003 I'm not debating on the art style, all those games look technically far better than ghosts. Ghosts art style is godly but it looks like a game that was made in 2014/15
The game also has visual bugs on AMD GPUs, mainly a blue flicker in some textures. Horizon Forbidden west has rainbow lights flashing in the distance when underwater. No one seems to notice that and it's quite frustrating.
Thank you for noticing that, everyone claiming stellar performance with their very high end X3D cpus haven't noticed that obviously but my Ryzen 5 3600 which is recommended for 60fps can't even hold it
This is one of the best PC port test reviews I've seen. Tying multiple settings and options at multiple resolutions and GPUs. Thanks to this video I can confidently know if my PC can handle this game
You can also mod FSR frame gen into games that have DLSS frame gen. You should try it its pretty easy to set up. I modded it into cyberpunk and it allowed me to play 1440p high settings with psycho raytracing at 60-70 fps on a 3060 12gb. There was no noticable input lag either ( I did have nvidea reflex on so that might be the reason). Also you can pair FSR framegen with DLSS upscaling.
I actually broke a personal taboo of mine and preordered this game on PC. I love Ghost on the PS4, and trusted Nixxes to make a quality port. Glad they proved me right. I’m currently on a trip and heading back home tonight. Can’t wait to boot this baby up!
This is some seriously impressive stuff. Most games needed the FSR upscaling rendering pipeline to implement FSR3 FG. And how do they do dynamic resolution on PC? Afaik DLSS, FSR and XeSS all provide a fixed resolution percentage. I hope this becomes the standard.
Great, informative video! Thanks Daniel! Glad to see that the settings for this game are quite versatile. The game looks well optimized with a consistently low frame time for the bit of the game that we saw in the video.
Sony is dumb for not selling the game at all in regions where theres no PSN... just sell it and say that multiplayer doesnt work in these countries... sony is run by idiots.
"Focus on the art design" YES! This came looks incredible because of exactly this. It's literally stunning at times, and lets not forget the sound design too!
Nixxes have always been the GOAT they even reached out to the 3D vision mod community to make sure the Tomb Raider games where working in stereoscopic properly back in the day. Pretty much unheard of. Sony knew what they were doing when they acquired them...
I was pleased when I tried this out and saw fsr 3 enabled for nvidia cards, I actually don't need any scaling for my main machine though this is a great port
Thank you for the review! Perhaps this highly detailed sceneries in games are Japan's way to commercial the country itself as well as level of quality produced nearly everything exported from there.
hi Daniel, when you say use DLSS+dynamyc resolution 9:03 , it might lead to think that DLSS will only active when the frame rate dips belows 60, but DLSS it will be always active! this is a great topic for a video. This matters because it will always be subjected to visual artifacts from DLSS , not just when frame dips under 60 fps! So, one needs to compare : 1) DLSS+dynamic 60 : DLSS from 1080p to 1440p all the time ( it will be worst than natural 1440p all the time) + set to 60 fps 2)NO DLSS+dynamic 60 : natural 1440p most of the time + a few times of resolution scale down (1440p to 1080P) from the game engine. when a GPU/game can most of the time( 90% of the time) it can reach 60 FPS but have a few dips Option 2 will be better, when it can not reach 60 most of the time ( like in the video video 8:54) than option number 1 will be better.
Nixxe doing Nixxe's stuff. Insane ports from them, this should be the standard for a product on day one, nothing less. Specially if they have the guts to charge you more than $60.
I don't know...a PS4 game running at 90fps (even if at 4K) on a 4090 doesn't sound too great to me...the assets are not that complex, the visuals are good because of art direction, but there is not all of that geometry to move around..
@@himanshumaurya428 the PS5 version is nearly identical to the PS4 one (it has better loading times, some textures are higher quality and all of the cutscenes are in realtime, look at Digital Foundry's video) though i guess if i compare it to how the PS5 runs it its not too bad, PS5 gets 60 fps at checkerboarded 2160p which i would think its close to how 1440p native would run so the 3060 getting around 20% less performance at high settings 1440p is not horrible.
Consoles to pc ports will never be 1 for 1. Ps5 runs this game at near 4k (I think it’s like upscaled 1800p to 4k I think) 2. Devs who care get to really fine tune for console. It’s more of a mystery box on pc
Absolutely right. The 4090 is 40 times more powerful than a PS4 and only runs this game 10 times faster. Even when halving the raw power number of the 4090 to more than account for console specific advantages, the 4090 should get at least 150+ FPS at 4K, while it gets 80+ FPS in reality.
The best implimentation of frame gen is Grayzone Warfare , it literally feels as good as with no FG barely any noticeable latency increase which up to now FG naturally inherited. Might buy this game, anyone who played the console care to comment if there is much combat and open world exploration ? Personally story is not essential to me but i love large amounts of content for combat and side quests in open world.
On 3060 Ti If you aim for 60 FPS, disable AMD Frame Generation, it works terrible, disable vsync, and instead, force vsync through NVIDIA control panel
Game is awesomely optimized.. even on my old RX580 i have around 90-100FPS everything on high, this is first game in long time i´m happy that i bought..
Even though I have the recommended Ryzen 5 3600 CPU overclocked to 4250mhz all core I still can't get my 1080 to 100% usage even on max settings, dipping on some places even below 50fps with ~70% GPU utilization
I'm glad to know it's performing well. I unfortunately have it crash on me in the startup screen every time I launch it. From what I can tell, it's only a select few AMD GPU users that are experiencing this (I run a 6700XT), but it sounds like enough that it should hopefully be patched up soon. Really enjoyed this game on Playstation, now just waiting for it to work on my PC lol.
90% certain that one of the next patches to GoT will remove the ability to run DLSS+FSRFG without any workarounds. Performance is also hit or miss. Seems to run well optimized on the systems that can run it, while in over 100 countries, no matter the hardware specs, people will not even reach 1fps, since Sony denies them purchase with threat of a financial damaging ban if their PSN location is spoofed.
Nice video man! I appreciate it. Could you please let me know how many FPS you get if you run the game at 4K on ultra graphics with DLSS quality on a RTX 3060? I hope it hits the minimum of 30FPS Thank you
I know you mentioned stuttering and what not at the beginning due to your capture setup, but that frametime graph is mighty bumpy. When you switched over to the 3060 and locked to 60 is when you really notice it. Surprised that wasn't mentioned.
I don´t get why you would play the game with DLSS Quality and FG disabled on your 4090 in 4k. I´m playing the other way around on 4090, because that way I can preserve the native resolution, which looks better to my eye than upscaled (playing with controller on 65" TV, 3 meters distance). I would be interested in arguments to play your way :-) Thanks. Great Video!
Man with some many good games coming out, I really am having a hard time waiting to buy a new PC. When would be a good time to buy it? Wait for new GPU launches so I can get last gen cheaper?
About your woes with (your kids) ambient noise leaking into your recording: Just run your mic input through RTX Broadcast with a light noise removal filter applied. It really won't mess with clarity unless something nearby is loud enough to drown out your voice entirely (i.e. bandsaw in next room) and even in that case it degrades to "Whatsapp call on poor bandwith celular network" in terms of roboticness when the filter is maxed and noise level insane to the point where you probably won't be able to hear your own voice.
Framegen just gives me problems on my 3080 right now. Once I turned it off I could limit my fps and stopped crashing. I capped at 90fps without framegen and been having a great time.
reflex doesn't work when using fsr 3 with dlss. nvidia performance overlay when reflex is on shows an average pc latency value. thats not the case while using this
Performance ans options look pretty similsr to Horizon Forbidden West, which they did not too long ago. Just about to finish that may have to look into this as ive heard its a great game
Unfortunately high fps kills this game so I have to lock it to 60 fps. The game runs fine but one of its cool features is the standoff attack you can start before a fight but if you have anything higher than 60 fps then there is very high chance it will not work. Ever since I capped it to 60fps I haven’t had that problem.
It would be interesting to see what the fps is if you were to match your settings to what a PS4 Pro does in quality mode with the popular CPU's and GPU's as reported on Steam.
How is it possible to run AMD’s frame gen without an AMD GPU or driver? If I remember correctly, AMD’s frame gen is called Fluid Motions Frames. And that is a driver-based tech. Does it mean that the NVIDIa GPU handles the AMD frame gen processing? If that is the case, then what’s left for AMD if NVIDIa can do what an AMD can, but AMD GPUs can’t do what NVIDIa GPUS can?
Try Win calibration tool for hdr maybe it's an aid for this one. Trully, it seems that as it's the same studio who ported H:FW hdr was broken as well in the begining.
I mostly play on 1080p and even with just an rx 7600 paired with High settings Im getting 90+ fps which is very good Maybe even my old 1070 will get 60 fps on med-high at the same resolution
I have a 3060ti and play 4k dlss performance. When I enable FSR3 FG it does not even give me more frames, just more input lag. Why would that be is it bugged?
So there's one thing no one has talked about in ghost i don't think.. Native res with TAA vs XeSs vs fsr3.0 vs dlss. Still no dynamic or frame gen and still native is key. Which AA is best?
