+Veronica Morgan Thank you. :-) Oh yeah, I would love to have seen that place 100 years ago. I can't even seem to find any historic photos of the place.
I agree, I don't understand why some people have the desire to destroy property. Like graffiti, a person spends a ton of money to build something and then some MORAN comes by and spray paints stupid words all over it. It's poorly raised people.
michael hallberg yeah, shame people go In and destroy these places. instead of leaving it alone. Them going in and "marking their spot" or whatever, ruins the original antiquity of it.
this last year I was prospecting in that area with my boyfriend in the trinity river I went down the road that goes to the cemetary and parked I looked over and noticed a couple of headstones I thought oh my god is that a cemetary then I noticed the sin Trinity county cemetary the weeds were so high starthistle and broken off branches and pinecones I was amazed at how many graves were actualy over there well it has taken about seven trips to rake and clean it up but im proud to say it looks amazing as many men that are in that cemetary that served in world war 1 and two in korea and the other ones it was worth it to me shame on trinity county for their not up keeping
Well you are a 'gem' Lisa. How many people really care these days! And you do and that gives me hope that maybe we aren't going loony tunes just yet. i know there are more 'out there'. My Dad was in the Korean war. All my men relatives except for one and myself, going back three generations were in combat, not just in service. One of my Uncles was on a ship when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.... but I want to thank you Lisa for caring. It means a whole lot!
"Take only memories, leave only footprints", concepts that totally elude the vandals, those that feel they have to destroy all they encounter, marking "their territory", much like a dog, pissing on a fence, or a hydrant, curs tthat they truly are .....
Hi EWU in one of your comment of some two years since said what would the folks who lived there look like OK... here goes.. i have old photos of my great-great grand parents standing on the porch with other folks related to me from weigh back ... the men wore baggie trousers waistcoat heavy boots large brimmed hat frock coat pocket watch on a chain .. my granny she always wore black frock down to the floor laceup boots --bonnet and wire framed specs my father was born in the year 1899.. my mother born 1903 thanks for great video i live now in Beverly Hills CA.. the photos were taken up in Utah ............Ed
Hey Guys, fascinated by your videos. We have plenty abandoned places in the UK but the vast open desert etc is mind blowing. Can't get my head around why vandals would want to drive out to some random desert place and trash!!???? Anyway look forward to each and every vid you and Emma do. Keep em coming .
It's not that far away from a few small towns. There is not much else around, so I imagine the kids nearby don't have anything better to do but trash the place. Very sad
I know this video is old but you guys should totally get a metal detector out there!!! (Or another old town). I think you guys would find some pretty crazy things!
Truly amazing! It's fascinating to think of these places in full bloom like Walnut Grove in The Little House on The Prairie - although a different location I know. Then through the 1930s to the 80s. Sad about the mindless vandals but this seems to happen everywhere. Well done keep them coming. Be careful as you know in these old timber buildings!!
I agree, it does have that Little House on the Prairie feeling, I only wish I could have seen it before the vandals arrived. Thank you for the support.
Postmarks on letters with that PO are collectible and depending on the dates and locations where they were sent to or received from can fetch a couple hundred bucks.
What a beautiful place. Wonder if the BLM would sell this town to someone who would restore it to it's former quaint glory. Could be an educational site. Besides it's so peaceful and happy. What do y'all think?
thank you for sharing your adventures. We have been stopping by Helena for about 30 or more years. the last God had other plans for us. Disappointing the! We always dreamed of buying Helena. The cemetery is th dirt road across from the bridge. Next to Helena. Old 1800's, some whole families. We would stop in a clean up the gravesites. The old miner had a pile of rocks, with a glass jar telling his life story. Always brought him a fresh rock. across the bridge is historical marker of Bagdad town. Hello fom Washington. Trinity area we brought our children on the same type of adventures. Now that we have some time, we will have to bring the grandchildren.
Not really a ghost town. Grew up in Petaluma CA not far from here. These are simply a couple buildings from the old times. Yet by no means is it a ghost town. They built a new downtown area not long after these buildings were built. Those other buildings are very much still in use and remodeled. I’m guessing these are on people’s land who decided to keep them to add character.
Love the video...Damn vandals..structurally these buildings stood up through all sorts of weather, then..Damn vandals...kids go play some football or something, lots of field to play there too..so you can bust up each other..rather than the treasures you felt you just had to bust up...The thing that's wild is being out at some place and there is absolutely nobody around...reminds me of post Katrina..where I worked (retired now) as a Lineman/Trouble shooter ......trudging through areas where water was finally pumped out...I mean Houses and cars in the middle of the street...On top of each other.....I mean...Nobody anywhere..things strewn on the ground...peoples personal belongings all about....things just made you think...about the people that lived there...Man,I could write a book about the sights..well, great video....God Bless &.....Be safe
Hey Bob. I must have missed this one. I really like it. It seems as though you are in a different part of the state. Thanks for the fine video. Regards, Ody
You should visit the town of Julian, in southern California. It's awesome because it's still a small town, the little downtown is protected as a state heritage site, and the town is still genuinely active. You can buy land out there still too, just like how the early settlers could buy a nice new plot for their homesteads.
Been watching your videos for the last week. They are amazing with all the places you travel and discover. This would be fun to discover, seeing history of old towns and buildings.
Thank you for the video, I love stopping there on the way when I drive 299. It would be so wonderful to see any of it restored, it is a hauntingly beautiful and peaceful space
Until I came across your channel I didn't realize there were so many abandoned towns and places out west. Is interesting to see all of your finds and appreciate you documenting them and sharing what you find with us!
Really liked this one! It does give of a "Little House" kind of vibe. Your videos are much better than the ones where they add "spooky" music. Thanks for making these!
Thanks for sharing your adventures with us! Love this stuff, unfortunately here in Massachusetts most abandoned places are posted so we have to admire them from afar. Keep up the good work!
I'm not sure actually something worth checking out. Mass residents are not very happy with ppl snooping around even if it's not their property due to vandals. Vermont is nice though, I'll ask neighbors if I can photograph a place beforehand so they have reassurance that I'm not up to no good.
I've never commented on your video's before but now I will,,, I really enjoy all your video's, please keep up the good work !!! I grew up in San Bruno Ca. Been living in Alabama sense 1975,,, please keep the video's coming our way !!!!!
Wow!!! Thank you for going n exploring that place. I always wondered about Northern CA n what was around there. A lot of History n how life was like back then. I wish I could have lived up there back then. I bet it was so interesting n wonderful. Thank you !!!
With all these ghost towns I just don't understand why someone has not repaired these small town so our homeless vets and their families have a place to live. It just seems like a waste of space especially when it could help our own American people. NOT FOR ILLEGALS.
My grandmothers house had an old sink like that in the kitchen. I replaced it when I took over the house. The original kitchen was from 1920. I had a new kitchen put in 2007. That sink really lasted.
That's pretty close to Weaverville. In the seventies my mother and step-dad had a gold mine in Weaverville. Be careful in those old buildings up there I myself found a rotten case of dynamite all covered with nitroglycerin in a cabin we were cleaning out. If I poked that with a stick or even breathe wrong we'd all been vaporized
They are blackberry bushes/vines. They are quite common in Northern California. The new canes grow on top of the old ones and the plant will completely take over a piece of property if allowed to grow uncontrolled.
you have to blur that graffiti out that's on the walls that's the reason they Ride along there and these places because they know that you're going to be checking them out and when you look inside you're going to catch a graffiti of written on the wall and you're going to end up showing that on you too so next time you explore something to ask graffiti lyric graffiti out and sooner or later they'll get sick of putting on it cuz nobody wants to see it
Just whatched this one the collapsed building was a old hay barn and the last building with the tree through the middle was probably a pump house to pump water from the creek i heard
If you ever get up near Montana I have an amazing place for you that dates back to early 1800s..it has a town a grave yard and a series of about 15 large kilns 3 miles up the mountain that fed the smelter that's still in town...
What a fantastic place and very interesting. Shame we couldn't see inside the old post office building. Parts of it reminded me of 'Little House on Prairie' for some reason.
Very nice video too bad that there is so much destroid i like too have a talk with those guys with me good old baseballbat lol The last house was ok tho.
Unfortunately a wild fire pass thru Helena this summer and burned to the ground. I was born and raised in Eureka and our family had a summer home in Willow Creek and we used to stop on our way to Redding.
I saw it on the Grit Tv station why it went down. The train never came to it 2as 1 story, bad corrupt sheriff a or something like that. Not sure if same place. The 1 I do recall was due 2 power misguided guy wanted it 2 be named capital of CA,so accused innocent man of shooting a man on purpose,& didn't care if was innocent. It was self defense. Guy got aquited just in time,4 original verdict was guilty & in those xs it was death by hanging. Anyhow, his petition was robbed by the lawyer, who was a good safe cracker & the saloon gal who paid 2 help him just as a good Samaritan,so the front page was changed by lawyer & petition of 2,000 or more signatures 4 that he took 2 governor 2 pardon him. The guy wanted 2 be a town that said not soft in criminals so it have chances of being the capitol of CA. It went 2 Sacramento who was in the running. Not sure of others were, as the old 1950's TV show did not say.
Love this place. I can't help wondering why so many beautiful places abandoned? Can anyone enlighten me. It seems so lush. Another question... someone at some time paid money to live live there. Ie loans to buy land and build a town. It just doesn't make sense or does it?
I don't understand why people want to vandalize and destroy things, just go look explore and leave it be! Like you guys do love your videos I'm obsessed with abandoned things
