I’ve run the lights once to get through a stop light separating my empty gas tank from the gas station. i’ve run them on Halloween before and yes, people did clear the way. With Great power comes Great Responsibility.
On older cars, the headlights are controlled directly by the switches (ON/OFF and low/high) and not by a relay. Switches wear out, overheat and melt. There is a fire danger. It is recommended to connect the headlights to a relay to avoid wear and the risk of fire.
Have you tried replacing that floor switch? It is likely just nasty and corroded inside, they get that way being where they are located. Just a few screws and one plug. Then you can also clean the connector a little bit before putting it back together.
Pretty sure the headlights are original to the car. Some kid must have tapped the switch yesterday and really threw me off for a bit. I hardly ever drive the car at night.
@@unfinishedstudios Cool, just trying to help. It may be only a matter of time until the floor button corrodes so much the lows don't work. Takes five mins and 20 bucks to fix.
