I was literally taught how to make a "ghost photo" in my highschool photography class. All you have to do is take a long-exposure photo. The person poses for half of the time the lens is open and then gets out of the shot for the rest of it. The first cameras took a long time to take pictures so the same thing could've easily happened by accident.

I love how she mentions double exposure once and never again, when absolutely all old ghost photos (guaranteed pre-1960s) were done using double exposure. It was a thing that is historically known was done during the Victorian era, when ghosts and seances etc were back in vogue. People would ask for a photographer to take a picture of them with their ghostly loved ones, and whether known or unknown to the buyer, the photographer would produce a photo with double exposure of the person or a similar person in the background.

TL;DR on the Amityville house: the Lutz family bought the house for way more than their budget, they knew about the deaths, they (allegedly) skipped out on their loan payments by running away and claiming supernatural causes. The Lutz famliy has said their recounting of the story is true, but the book and movie exaggerate. Other's who were involved claim almost none/none of it was real.

My dad told me a story where him, my uncle and grandparents went to Japan and the hotel room toilet door suddenly locked itself. They asked someone to fix it and a guy came and tried to unlock the door but it didn’t work. Then the guy started to talk to the door and then the door magically unlocked itself. So I mean……

The part of the Amityville Horror story that was partially made up is the part about the family who moved in and were haunted by the souls of the Defeo family. The part about the murders that took place there was 100% true.

Being a photography major and watching this is so funny. Like, there's so many reasons behind why certain photos look the way they do, but then people think there's ghosts. You can notice how almost every ghostly picture you see, it's from a long time ago. They had pretty crap cameras back then, it's wouldn't have been too hard to point at something and say "oh that looks like a face haha".

I am from Hawaii and there are Native Hawaiian Ancestors who roam different parts of island as groups called Night Marchers. The school I work at has definitely given me chills in certain rooms. These photos remind me of one time when i wasn't wearing my glasses, and i was looking up into a window, and i was like "why do those people have a ship's wheel in their window?" and my brother was like, "that's a cat."

The only ghost I saw caught on HD camera (and idk if she sent them the photo or not) but me and my friend were on a ghost tour in Savannah Georgia. It was the Blue Orb ghost tour. We were by the cemetery and there was a playground built right beside it. The guide was in the middle of telling us about a virus that swept the orphanage and how ghosts can be seen playing on the playground. Well, a lady took a photo of the house that was overlooking the cemetery and said "look at how beautiful this house is." Apparently it was abandoned too so after she took the photo on her phone she started freaking out. When we looked in it, there was literally a ghost--body and all---leaning against the window looking at us. People started taking photos and no one else got it but after that the tour guide made some phone calls because apparently they had no idea that place was haunted. I mean I've had paranormal experiences all my life but that one takes the cake

As a photographer that has worked with multiple types of film photography, including 35mm, large format view camera, and pinhole, so many of these are so easily re-creatable.

I worked at a haunted school once. The school used to be a school for the mentally challenged. A boy had died on the property and had a memorial plaque on the playground. One day when I was closing down the school, I went into the bathroom to check for items left by the kids and to turn of the lights. Under one of the stalls I saw feet that had brown shoes on. In between the cracks of the stall I saw what appeared to be a boy with brown hair. I thought," Oh no, a kid must've hidden in here from his parents". As all the parents had picked the children up. I went to open the stall door and when I did, nothing was there. I freaked the F out lol. I told my colleagues and they thought I was just seeing things, until another teacher had an experience of her own.

My friend is from mexico, she says in her family they tape or glue pieces of bread to the ceiling so demons are 'absored' and can not roam your house. Also that when an owl flies near you, they have to pray so the owl doesn't trick you with its beauty and steal your soul. Making you a ghost/spirit. Anyone else do this or heard of people doing this ? I feel like she's pulling a joke on me.

my niece actually caught a weird photo on her Iphone while being alone in the mountains. She took photos as a guide to find her way back and all of a sudden there was like this huge black shadow on one of the photos and she ran back. Might have been just a camera error (most probably) but it still looks weird af.

My sister actually took photos with a HD camera when she visited an old house, and it looks like there's a ghost dog down a corridor

Most of this can be attributed to matrixing, where the little dots/pixels of a photo create an image and your mind translates it into an actual object. If you stare at a randomly assorted wall of dots, you will eventually start to see things (characters, people, objects) in it.

I’m a 6 foot, 5 inch tall security guard with maybe a bit too much empathy about other’s beliefs. One of my coworkers works at a post across the street, same company. He is a 6 foot, 9 inch tall security guard and in much better shape than me. He actually asks me to check his building for ghosts whenever he’s on site. We both work overnight and I’m familiar enough with his post, that it’s not a BIG deal. They hired him because they can see him hanging out outside and know he won’t sleep on the job. The real reason is, he’s terrified of sitting all alone in there. 😂

Hi, friendly history buff here! The Lincoln photo is a cabinet de viste. They were a standard size hence the framing. They were often given to friends and family so they were purchased in "sheets". Also, hour-long exposure captures a solitary moment then they leave it for an hour to capture the details and lighting better since much of that was lost in the development process.

The picture of the “ghost” upside in the honorable mentions is a real picture. It’s not a ghost it’s a body of the previous owner of the house the family bought who was “missing”. During the picture the ceiling got weak due to the corruption from the body and finally gave in and the body fell through the ceiling as the picture was being taken. It’s a sad case. The Case of Angry Computer Ghosts: My husband had problems with random computer shutoffs for years. We did everything to try and fix it but no dice. After a few years I started telling people he was haunted by angry computer ghosts. Three computers in a row would just randomly shut off with no explanation. The first time around, we replaced every part of the computer except the motherboard and cpu. Then said screw it and bought a new computer. That was fine for a while until the same problem started happening. We moved it around the house and replaced outlets. We separated the monitors, speakers, etc. into a plug on a different circuit breaker to reduce the electrical load. Nothing solved this problem. We then started replacing parts in the second computer. A few years of living with it later, my husband bought a third computer. It was fine for a few months until it, too, started being haunted by the ghosts of angry random shutoffs. Finally, after years of struggle and shutoffs, a friend of mine asked me to check the wattage for my husband's UPC(uninterruptible power supply). 200W. I don't even know where he found a 200W UPC. Moved the PC plug onto a regular surge protector and it has not shut off since.
