Thanks for watching, this epic blitz was a very rare occurrence, and yes Bluefish blitzes do happen but what made it even more rare was the fact this was up in the bay which usually doesn't see this type of fish, or fishing.

Dude, out of all your vids, this is your best video by far. Some of those shots were incredible. The underwater ones blew my mind. I'm still trying to learn saltwater fishing and just seeing this makes me want to drive all the way to Montauk. Nice man, keep it up. You deserve more than 11k subs.

Frat Boy Fishing thanks man yeah I was lucky to get the underwater footage but that's just how many fish were there. I must of had 30 or more blowups in front of my camera to get three decent clips of fish chasing my plug. I do love freshwater fishing but I couldn't live without saltwater fishing haha tight lines.

You earned my like. Here in the mid-Atlantic seaboard, they say that April/May is a good time to go shore fishing for blues and striper in some of the estuaries and bays. There's a pier in the bay I live near that just got reopened (it got smashed by Sandy back in '12), and they had photos of big blues caught from it.

Great video! It's videos like this that inspired me to start my own channel. Well done! I caught my first chopper bluefish a few years back in the estuaries of Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Rare for here in the south. Man what a fight!!

Your Bluefish is very similar almost identical to a file here in Australia known as Taylor. Here when freshly caught, bled, filleted and fried in pan they taste great. Awesome fighting fish.

Great vid thanks, down under we call them Tailor. Big one's greenbacks and small ones choppers. Never caught one that size though, my biggest was 9lb and I thought that was a horse! Love your work!

I have caught them in a few countries, but the biggest tailor I ever saw in my life are in Oman. Their seas are untouched. But they are smart, and take a bit of angling to catch.

Love fishing there. Blue's are like piranhas. I've always said that you can catch a blue on a two-by-four and a hook when they're feeding. Lots of fun!

It prob took 20-30 blowups right in front of me to get those perfect three on video going after the popper. Live to fish fish to live tight lines!

It’s 2019 blue fish wasn’t that strong this year down by my hole over at breezy. It’s a shame this will be the last time being able to fish there. I am moving over to Staten Island, I haven’t heard much about the fishing. That gets me nervous 😟

I Used to Fish down SANDY HOOK on the JERSEY SHORE since i was alittle kid back in the early 70,s,me n my DAD had some GREAT TIMES together n I Miss them days alot.I havent fished since 98 and im very sad since i havent been there in over 20 yrs, im gonna take my dad to SANDY HOOK one of these days and just walk around with him looking at our old spots we fished at but he lives in DELAWARE NOW and so do I so its a good 2 hr ride

If he’d only known to cast further out… The biggest Stripers lie just beyond the blues cleaning up all the injured bunker. They’re safer further out and able to also snatch up injured blues too.

Bunker? Bluefish? Those are names we use in the Northeast/NY I fish out of Jamaica bay Queens. Where was this? July/August 2016? I know this is an old video but man you know you cannot cast a lure without a wire leader when dealing with Blues. They will snap your line in a second with those sharp teeth. Blues have no problem taking bites out of their hooked buddies too.

I was catching them that size off of Chappaquiddick back in the 1970s. I caught the real big ones in the race down at the bottom. an old timer showed me the secret. Don't use a whole bait use a chunk and drop it to the bottom and hold on lol my biggest was over 14 pounds

Those bait you called bunker, was quite expensive here in philippines, and not all people can afford to buy those fish everyday in a public market, we called it here in our country as "matambaka" very delicious to fry and good for soup recipe too... you are so lucky and blessed and the abundance of fishes in your country is amazing particularly on that spot you can even catch them (bunker)by bare hands so amazing. And also If that happen here, catching that giant/big bluefish, it could be a celebration to grill and make soup out of that bluefish and have feast with the family and kids,

So you were really blue hunting without using a steel leader' ? You do realize blue fish are one big really sharp tooth right ? I caught a 27 LBS blue off the fantail of a small tanker that deliver's heating oil to the islands off the Maine coast a few year's ago He was the biggest thing I ever caught I used a Diawa 2600 Silver series with 7 1/2 ugly stik 20 lbs test and a 3 ft steel leader on a big plug ..caught between vynel haven & metinacus rock

go with 2 feet of good fluorocarbon 40 lb or braid 80 and swap the stock hooks on your plug for good treble hooks like Mustad Ultra or Yo-Zuri. Problem solved.

I uses a weighted Treble hook and snag a pogie and the bluefish would hit it. you could see the seagulls attacking the fish pieces. they would come down the beach and leave the other way.

With all that Bunker in the water, why would you anything but Bunker? And quick tip, always use a steel leader with Bluefish. It will save you money in lures, and save the fish.

there is nothing like getting into a school of Blues and catching them on light tackle i use a 6'6 fresh water rod and 12 lb test on my bigger fresh water reel.....your forearms burn what a blast!!!!

last summer in the indian river I caught a 37 inch blue cant tell you the weight but it swallowed a 13 to 14 inch jack whole ........... didn't even bite it in half . and it was summer time with no mullet run going on .

I hate the way people in Florida put their hands inside the fish gills. In the PNW that sort of fish handling is highly scrutinized, the fish will be feeling those wounds for a while. Its not necessary with a bluefish to hold them like that, and it doesn't look cool or make for good pictures. hold by the belly and tail and have a happy fish.

surely some of hte best bunker and bluefish footage ever. never seen them shake their heads like that. very intelligent behavior. that's how they cut bunker, and soft plastic jigs and and leaders, in half. sharks shake their heads like that. so do dogs. bass shake their heads to shake off plugs. blues do it to cut bunker in half. or your line. wild.

I've caught them on just about everything from a top water plug made from a broom stick handle to "believe it or not" a empty beer can that I crushed and tied on.

Not to mention, hook the bunker in the tail. Bluefish have teeth and bite the tail first. For Stripers who have no teeth, you hook the head first.

Bluefish are one of the best fish to be on. They are like sharks. I only ran into a feeding frenzy like this once. They were smaller blues but was really fun.

That's when a bunker snag or weighted treble hook is the ish, if didn't have a net that's a dream scenario, people chase bunker pods with boats to get on bunker to get to the stripers, it's the bait shop of the water.
