This stream has to be fished before the aquatic plants have streamers so long they choke the waterways, great for the fish, lousy for the fisherman. Again, it was sheer luck in video 4 from last year that I happened to stop for a breather exactly where a beauty had also decided to stop! End result a colourful 24” brown.
So back up again! Video 5 of this year shows what’s in the stream and other possibilities.
When we stopped to fish at the 1st hole, Albert said he was looking at a very large fish, finning directly below him. Because I couldn’t see the fish, I discounted to size and put his exaggeration up to excitement. Wow, was I wrong a few minutes later when I too saw what he was talking about. We fished for quite a while with no success but we will return as this fish has to be on a video by early July because after that, the plant growth will be too great.
So, off we both went upstream to catch something in order to have a video. And once again, Alfred sees another lunker and it’s coming my way! Well it never got to me as it stayed under some logs, never to reach my eyes. Again, no fish, no video.
Up farther as Alfred stayed at a hole, I walked up 100’ and caught the reason we now had a possible video! Beauty brown that came charging out for the pm.
And shortly thereafter, Alfred caught a bigger reason to continue with the video as he landed a 23” guy.
We had, or I should say, I had a tad of trouble with the landing and had it not been for Alfred, I could possibly still be in the bank muck!
You can see in the video how much water has left because of the broken dam, leaving the bank an unsafe area. Ugly netting resulted.
We saw quite a few browns, 18” and bigger. Took a lot of soul searching not to go up the next day. But soon, as it’s on our agenda.
And we didn’t even get to the spot where the big guy I mentioned in S2 V5 resides as we were time pressed…..I know, poor us.
Hope you like Alfred’s presentation. It was an absolutely interesting fun day with great results, some of which will certainly be repeated.
Cheers

Afternoon Bill. Just noticed your question. Streams look similar I think as I recall driving through the UP on our way to kenora. That area and northern Minnesota are beautiful. Your answer would be southern Ontario. We’re going through a heat wave presently with high humidity so my buddy and I are hanging close to home…too hot for us and the fish. Cheers..Rob
