Wow thanks for doing this! Dan Huff is one of the most underrated players of all time. And it's an absolute crime that this album isn't more famous. If it had come out four years earlier Giant would've been the biggest band in the world. Thank you for putting so much effort into a video which (very sadly) isn't likely to get many views. In the more just parallel universe this is a super famous song and your video has five million views. Fantastic tone and to my ears you nail every second. Just joined the patreon, which I'm using as a tip jar. Not sure how long I'll stay but will be at least three months.
Thank you so very much Matt 😃👍🎸🎸 I really appreciate it. Thanks for your patreon membership too 🙏 Yeah indeed, they would have deserved more attention worldwide 💯 Dann's the man ❤
Me again Juha, the old crotchety drummer. Dammit dude, you go thru uncharted waters. Giant, with their top shelf line up is a band I thought was not easy to emulate. Untouchable like Captain Beyond. But here you are, killing it. So very well done Juha, You should be proud.
Thank you so much Jonathan 😃👍🙏 That could also be epic failure...recording anxiety, camera shyness and a person watching when you try to do the take 🤣🤣👍🙋♂️🍻🍾🎸🎸🎸
This is such a great cover, I can't stop watching it, trying to figure out the parts. Dann is one of my all time favorites...you should do more Giant tracks.
I'm a believer in your talent, Juha. As a huge fan of Dann HUFF and GIANT, this is a treat. Your playing is so inspiring and inspirational. You're carrying the flame of excellent musicianship, and attention to detail and nuances. Thank you for this and all your videos.
The iconic bandmaster! Remember these from back in the 70s along with the Bassman many guitarists used them back in the day! Did they ever reissue them? Ya make it scream sir,I really enjoy your tutorials
Wow! You really nailed his tone and playing. Amazing work as usual my friend. This song is truly a masterpiece. I love the guitar layers on this song. And the intro solo pretty much speaks for itself. But my favorite part of this song is the bridge section after that second smokin guitar solo. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve replayed that part every time I listen to this song. It’s so catchy and melodic. Anyways it’s not only one of my favorite Giant songs, But it’s also one of my favorite covers you’ve done on the channel. You certainly hit a home run with this one.
Yes!!! Great job Juha! Those bends in the intro solo are crazy 😜, and I love those slurred notes at the end of the intro. You got that intro solo spot on, must have taken a little time 😃. Those initial chords after the intro have a U2 feel, and you also captured little licks and sounds that I wasn’t hearing. What a superb performance! 👏🏻🎸🎶🔥
Hi Brian. Thank you so very much 😃🙏Few really big bends...like the one on fifht string. Two whole steps...you Don't do thst everyday 😉👍 Dann makes beutiful guitar arrangement on every Giant song...so much going on everytime...jingle parts like he says 🙋♂️ The Biggest job was to transcribe all the guitar parts down and write them on guitar pro 👨💻👨💻👨💻👨💻👨💻👨💻 Many hours of work. Actual playing was quite easy part this time. Somehow this song felt really familiar to play even though i haven't played it before 🎸🎸 Have a great weekend 🍻
@@JuhaAitakangas yeah he’s such a great musician. You did such an awesome job, a lot of hard work but it paid off. Have a great weekend as well Juha! 🎸👍🏼
Blown away!! There's nothing you can't do! Very impressive, especially layering in multiple parts. Do you ever learn tricks or techniques from these covers? Seems like you could now incorporate Lukather or Huff into your other playing and writing.
Thank you very much Brian 😃👍 I have become so much better player by doing these videos. Learned so much about rhythm playing and i have stole so many good solo ideas to my own playing 😉👍🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
No ihan mahtavuutta taas...Dan Huff🤩Sä olet kyllä lähes ärsyttävän hyvä/taitava! Itse osaan soittaa "Jänis istui maassa" ja kömpelöitä mollipentatonisia blueslikkejä! 🙄😄
Guitarist Dann Huff went on to have quite a successful producing career. Back in the day he put out one of those video instructional series, it's here on youtube (that's where I saw it). He also had a signature James Tyler guitar, which very few people seem to have heard of (the signature guitar, not the James Tyler brand).
@@Mr.Tabs.Guitar.Lessons yep, it was yellow, though I recall it being more of a TV yellow type than a bright yellow that you'd typically see from the 80s. It also had Dan Huff's signature on the upper horn where most signatures on signature guitars are up on the headstock.
After watching most of your Lukather-related videos, it's nice you're branching out to other great players, thank you Production wise I guess this video was probably one of the more difficult ones to do, bringing all these guitar parts together ?
Always lots of work to do when there's so many guitar parts. Transcribing and then you have to learn to play all those parts 😅👍 and of course shoot the video 🙋♂️
I don't think I ever heard that tune. In '89 I think I was listening to Alana Myles, black velvet. Probably Heart,... . Wonder if he took the hook and name from the Monkees, I'm a believer. Great cover, they were supposedly known for some power ballad tune. This is a better tune though.
@@JuhaAitakangas no he probably watched them as a kid and had the hook rattling around in his head for years. They were a Saturday morning show, for young kids and teens.
