Nashville, TN - 1-night reunion of Giant (Dann Huff, David Huff and Mike Brignardello) for a benefit for Todd "Todzilla" Austin, a music figure in Nashville, who lost a lot of possessions and his cats in a house fire recently.
Dann Huff is one of the best triple threat guitar player /singer/songwriters ever, its like having Lou Gramm that can play like Steve Lukather and write like Mick Jones .Unbelievable how much talent one person possess
Wow. Even after sitting in the producer's chair and playing country sessions the past 20 years Dan hasn't lost hardly anything off his fastball. Very impressive.
Yes man...Dan is such an underrated guitarist and vocalist man..Though the new guy nails it too. But Dan and the bamd deserved so much more. I feel bad for Dan and Vito Bratta of White Lion...Such underappreciated gems of musicians.
@@ashiqurrohman7731 Dan produced some of the biggest modern country records from the last 20 years. From Rascal Flatts to Keith Urban. He’s VERY respected as a producer. Not like he fell into obscurity. Brig too. Plays on a ton of sessions in Nashville with everybody. They’re doing very well for themselves. It is a shame that Giant had their time cut short by Nirvana and grunge. Amazing band.
LOVE Giant! Worked at A&M Records in the 80’s, and was a huge fan! Just thought about them all these years later. I was 24 then, they are STILL rockin’! Love it!!! One of the best!!!
All I have to say about all the negative comments about the singer, “when you’re standin in the spotlight, some people always take a shot but it’s only jealousy...only jealousy” anybody asked to sing with Dan Huff has to be pretty damn good because Dan could probably choose any singer in Nashville he wanted and they would jump at the chance. This is not an easy song to sing because it’s so dynamic. I thought the singer did a great job!
flowride68, he is a very talented guy and I look forward to what he does in the future. It really passes me off how so many people are so quick to negatively criticize someone like this poor guy was. I figure if Dann had him come sing in his place then the guy has to be pretty damn good, and he really is. People shooting their mouths off because he's a heavy guy...really? Who gives a rat's ass if he's overweight! Not me. I'm a singer who happens to be overweight as well...so isn't Meatloaf and Ann Wilson but listen to them. They are both great singers!
The ONE and ONLY BAND I NEVER SEEN IN THE 80S. GIANT... DAYUMM I WOULD OF DRVOE FROM DETROIT TO SEE THIS. DANGGG DO SOME MORE DAN!!!! SOUNDS GREAT GUYS.
Dann, take some advice here. Get Giant back together, get back on vocals and play Rockingham in the UK. It will be the best thing that you have ever done, trust me.
I'm guessing he can't sing like he used to. Like even the live footage from back in the day he struggled vocally live give him a break. I do think if they were to your they should get a different singer with a bit more rich voice this guy is good and he sings well but the feeling is very different than Dan.
@Joe Kinchicken He was a session musician for nearly every 80s pop star and a few glam metal acts, then did a Rock band influenced by Journey and Van Halen. Guy was always mainstream. Thats not a bad thing, rockism sometimes is stupid and a lot of Pop is very good music, its like saying Spielberg is bad because hes specializes in connecting with audiences.
Just took a road trip with my new puppy in October...in an old Jeep that only has a CD player...and I found this CD. My new puppy probably listened to this album 20 times, if not more. And the singer is crazy good despite a few missed notes. Dann has his reasons and I think they found someone worth listening to.
Obviously there is a reason that Dann isn't singing. I have no idea why. Maybe some of you critics should just accept that and enjoy it. This guy has a good voice and actually sounds quite a bit like Dann. I think he did a great job.
Absolutely, man. The man's name is Bryan Cole and for those unfamiliar, I'd suggest checking into his solo CD, Sands of Time. Not only can he sing, he's a double threat like Dann Huff. He's a badass guitarist, too. Just sayin'!
OH HOW I WISH GIANT WOULD PUT OUT A NEW ALBUM WITH THIS AWESOME LINEUP!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST BOUGHT THE REMASTER OF LAST OF THE RUNAWAYS RELEASED BY ROCK CANDY.... THAT ALBUM WAS/IS SO AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, one of my favorite bands of all time, so wish I knew about this brief appearance of Giant. Was a little disappointed that Dann wasn't singing, but the fact that him, David and Mike were also playing made up for it, and the singer they had did a REALLY nice job with this. Giant has 3 albums worth of brilliant songs, it's a shame they can't put some time aside to do a proper tour. And if Mike can't make it, I will happily step in ;)
OK he doesn't sing on this song which is a pity because he was such a great singer... But the singer here does really a great job, you cannot say that it's worse than what Dann did before. I think Dann wants to be more at ease on the stage by concentrating on his guitar playing. It's not easy to combine both. And honestly, he doesn't have to prove anything anymore. The fact that he's still playing great, means that he's been playing guitar all his life - despite the many productions that he did. And maybe he cannot reach those high vocal notes anymore, but then again, who can at his age? Besides Glenn Hughes there's not many left - look at Robert Plant, Ian Gillan, David Coverdale etc.
With Dann's insane production schedule, I bet it felt good to get out of a studio and exercise the chops a little in front of a crowd but at times it looked like he could play those songs in his sleep. Brig looks asleep behind the dark shades, dude, you are in a basement for cryin out loud.
Dan Huff reminds me of Dennis Quaid in this vid. Yes, he should be singing, but maybe he can't hit those high notes anymore, who knows. Smokin' guitarist.
What is this crap? This isn't the true Giant. For a start, Dann Huff should be singing, not some unknown guy. Also, what the hell happened to Huff's guitar tone and guitars? He used to play super strats with a massive 80s rack sound, but now it's the bland, bog standard Strat into a dry amp sound. He no longer looks like a rock star either, but a regular Joe. How a once mighty band have fallen. I was a big Giant fan, but this sucks.
