My husband's grandfather grew a 300 pound pumpkin once. When the guys came to get it to take it to the fair, they started to roll it but pa threatened to knock them in the head with a cane if they rolled his pumpkin. He made them load it with a blanket or something but anyway he had a fit on them for trying to roll his pumpkin.. 🎃

On the family farm sixty years ago we had a drought. I found the one Mellon that was large enough to pluck up and take to my wonderful grandmother. When she cut it open dust flew from the danged thing. It was a drought to remember!

Looks like it may have had anarobic bacterial plack forming in the air pocket. Common to many fruits that form true berry type fruit usually overtime. It probably would weigh less when cut than at first weight. This is why fresh is best.
