I love those Yamaha stands. I found that the Yamaha tom mounts will slide right into those stands, it was a game changer. I play a one up, one down with two rides a crash and hats. Two Yamaha stands and hi-hats. I used to gig with a Yamaha Oak custom. The bass drum alone weighs a ton. I was getting tired of lugging it around, so i designed a small gigging kit. I went from a 22" to a 18" kick. 18" kick in a rock/blues band? I took it as a challenge. I modified a 18" Tama StarClassic. I coated the inside with a truck bed liner (lol). The heaviest part of my small gigging kit is my DW bass drum stand. Replaced my Yamaha Oak 13" and 16" with Gretsch 12" and 14". To my surprise, the small kit sounds amazing and i rarely play the Yamaha now. I can set it up in 3-5 minutes depending on how crowded it is. I have tossed the rack idea around, but I dont think i can get a smaller/lighter footprint......... maybe electric?......eeewwwww electric. Subbed.
Listen to the track "Cliffs of Dover" by Eric Johnson. The drummer used an 18" kick on that record too! They record really well! I appreciate you watching, my friend, and thank you so much for the sub!
Dude the snare is quickly becoming a favorite! I wish I could’ve put in a little more/better info, but the video was getting long. 😅 Thanks so much for watching, Joey!
Absolutely! I wanted to get in more, but the video was just getting too long. Lol These racks are great! Highly recommend trying a rack set up sometime!
@@TheMichaelJadeDrumChannel This is my 2nd journey with them, had the 2 level rack in the early 90s.. I ended up getting GSVMS for the 2 rack toms and snare and the side GSSVR rack for everything for the floor tom side..Ride..china..crash etc..then a curved tube from the front to my hats/in-ears mixer.. Waiting for another T-leg so I can mount my hi-hat.. Sorry for babbling but yes there will be no legs around the kit, quick setup..
So nice video!!! love how it looks and the chance to add and move things fast (2 to 11??) looks great!!! Nice tips for all the gigging drummers around!!
It saves about a foot on width and about half a foot on depth, depending on how many stands you use and where you place them! It’s also great for freeing up floor space in general!
Cool setup! So, is there a funky bar that runs from the tom/hi hat rack to the snare stand? Is that what I'm seeing?? Please enlighten this e-drummer, lol! 👍👍
It’s funky to allow clearance for the driveshaft of a double pedal. 😎 The GSVMS stealth kit. Handles a 14” tom like it’s nothing! Also, the snare DOES NOT move. Lol no more ramming the snare into the bass drum hoop! The best part for me, was being able to solve the creeping hi hat problem. 🤯 Thanks for watching, Mike!
Nice vid and nice kit. I have those stealth racks too but when I do take them out I don’t take them apart fully. I’ll detach the legs and have the mid rack as is with the cymbal arms. More recently I’ve been using a Gretsch club jazz kit, which is smaller and quicker set up and just a couple booms. When you get older, you’ll do the same😂
actually, what I do now, is I don't tear down the racks at all. I just remove the cymbals and boom arms! Having a truck, and band trailer, definitely helps with this approach though. haha thanks for watching, man!
Good video. Thinking about getting two side racks myself for my Tama kit. Will my existing cymbal stands extensions fit into the Gibralter rack clamps? That would save alot of $$$. I have heavy duty Tama stands.
Yes!!! I ended up getting two of the GCS500H racks for side racks, and I love them! I also got 4 of the Gibraltar SC-RBA's, and make sure to go with the SC-GCSMC clamps!!! I'm dropping a drum kit/studio rundown video this week!!! Thanks for watching!
Most of my reso heads have the hole at the 7 o clock position, but I decided to try something different! I wanted maximum attack from the 26” kick when recording, so this almost makes it like there is no front head at all. I get plenty of resonance, but wanted more “click” from the beaters!
Hey brother, what are the models of rack on the drummers right side? Curved rack isn't the standard 18" tall stealth rack, but I think that's the rack I need. ALSO, good tips for less experienced drummers -- nothing more irritating than a drummer putting cymbals on/off while onstage. Anything that can be done - should be done OFFSTAGE.
Thanks for watching, man! It's the GSC500H height adjustable stealth rack! Super universal, and adaptable to any kit! I love mine so much, I bought two for side racks!
@@TheMichaelJadeDrumChannel nice. Thanks! I just ordered a Sawtooth hickory 6-piece but they don’t make hardware so I’m trying to plan something cool for hardware
So I can lift the legs of the hi hat off the ground, and give my double bass pedal/left foot more clearance. It also keeps the hi-hats locked in place, no matter what surface I'm playing on. One of these days, I'll invest in a legless hi-hat stand. For now, this set up works just fine though!
