I love how the price sits comfortably between the standard and banner, something for everyone at various price points now all they need to do is come out with an lg0 for the martin 15 series price bracket

I have a LG-0 and the word I would use to describe the sound of the small body Gibson guitars is jangle. There is a buzz, sizzle, and jangle to the sound of the strings even on the low notes.

Have the Gibson 50's LG 2 and LOVE IT ! ! ! It's like a shrunk down Gibson J-45 ( a bit big for a petite gal as myself ) :-) Yes..... ANY guitar needs to be played in to sound their best and that takes PLAY / GIG time . So PLAY those guitars ! ! ! Your guitar will thank you for it . :-)

How does the V-shape neck feel like compared to a J-45 standard's neck?
@kalvino67

This is one of the better sounding Gibsons that I’ve heard online. Ok I confess , I’m a Martin guy, but still it doesn’t sound as muffled as other Gibsons.
@BaktaBak3
@BaktaBak3 2 года назад
I'm a Martin gal , but wanted a Gibson. The 50's Lg2 has a thicker neck that I like . It's not like a baseball bat , (I have small hands) , but fits my hand well and I don't get cramps in my hand when playing long gigs. So , (for me) I usually go for the modified V neck in any guitar.
@kalvino67
@kalvino67 2 года назад
@@BaktaBak3 I'm assuming this is a short-scale which also makes it easier to play in comparison to Martins. I also have small hands so I might consider this one based on your response. Cheers.

sure that would be great here’s how the review will go with these two gibson fan boys. the gibson is wonderful , the neck is perfect its resonant the bindings are great the sunburst is classic . the taylor is great but its not a gibson and the gibson has the nitrocellulose finish. My guess is quentin doesnt even own a gibson

Out of curiosity, what thumb pick does Quinton use? Thanks.
@quintonking9960
@quintonking9960 2 года назад
Hi scottmayre and Chris - I've tried using the narrower picks like the FK slick, but coming from a bluegrass flatpick style, I've honed in on the Herco flat thumbpicks - medium or heavy gauge. That's what I'm using in this and other demos. Best part is that when I inevitably step on em' and break off the thumb wrap, I still have a perfectly good flat pick - thanks for watching!

Been wanting a ceo-7 how does this compare? I love NR and the Nightsweats and may need to make an exception
@quintonking9960
@quintonking9960 2 года назад
Hi ematt98 - you may know that after demoing a ceo-7, I was so impressed that I took it home with me - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CKD1dPiM9Nk.html I put a K&K Trinity Pro in and it's really performing well. To my ear, the ceo-7 was broader with a touch more low-end (which appealed to me coming from playing dreadnoughts). I play in a number of "bluegrassy" duets and trios where I feel like the lower-end helps me cover more tonal space as an accompanist. That said, I really liked this Gibson and I could definitely see many applications. The Gibson seemed more mid-range punchy which perhaps would let it cut through other instruments a little better for snappy rhythm and crisper solos. I would also suppose that with a good pickup (definitely like the Trinity Pro myself), the Gibson could be dialed in and some additional bottom end added and/or tweaked to whatever your preference might be. All that said, there's really no substitute for getting your hands on em' and just playing to get a feel - always recommend sitting in front while someone else plays too in order to really hear what's coming out the front. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either one of these options. . . good hunting and thanks for watching!

@@quintonking9960 Thanks for the review and the great response here. I've been looking for a small bodied guitar that "spoke" to me for a while, I tried a CEO-7 which is a great guitar but for some reason seemed "brighter" than what I wanted and I couldn't pull the trigger on it (ended up with a 000-28 EC sunburst). But now I'm back to wanting a smaller guitar and stumbled up the LG-2 Rateliff which seems to check so many boxes for what I want to do with it (think stripped down Rateliff, Fleet Foxes, Gregory Alan Isakov, Wilco, Lone Bellow and others), and the LG-2 seems like a warm, sweet-sounding ready-out-of-the box solution. Based on a few videos, and especially this one, I just ordered one (things being what they are, can't try before I buy - not available near me) and can't wait to get it! Do you think it would work even for a poor (low skilled) and mostly strummer guitarist like me?
